Awesome! Yeah the two drawers have been super helpful. Especially when I'm doing dual narrow band and I switch it out for either nothing or my UV/IR cut filter.
I have the Askar 71F, and have been loving it! Just upgraded to a 533mc pro and also got an Svbony filter drawer. I see you indicated needing to calculate backfocus in your setup. Is that really needed? Or was that just for demonstration purposes? Thought the 71F didn't require backfocus adjustment. Just curious as to which way I'll need to go. Thanks!
Nice setup! The 71F has been amazing. And yep, I mentioned the 55mm backfocus just for demo purposes since most setups will require it. As for the 71F, you are correct that you don't have to worry about backfocus UNLESS you use the reducer. The reducer changes the backfocus requirement to the standard 55mm. I have a video on the reducer here where I talk a bit more about it: ua-cam.com/video/oTw8ESwtpZM/v-deo.html Feel free to reach out if you have questions.
@Naztronomy Really appreciate the reply dude! I figured that was the case, but then started to question myself haha. But I didn't know that about the reducer, I was thinking of picking one up, so that's good to know! I'll check your video out on that too! Have you checked out the Askar Color Magic C1/C2 filters yet? Just snagged them to go with the 533MC pro and excited to see how they perform!
I am curious to hear what you think about the color magic filters! I almost got the S2/O3 one (C2?) but decided not to spend any more money. I may get it in the future but for now, I'm sticking with the Optolong L-eXtreme for Ha/O3 which I've had for a long time. If you're on Discord, feel free to join our server, the invite link is near the bottom of the description. There are a few other 71F users in there but I don't think anyone else is using the Color Magic Filters.
Yep! In that case, you just replace the 16.5mm spacer with the OAG. I should have shown how it attaches in the video. I may work on a follow up video showing the full imaging train with the drawer and an OAG in a few days.
I'm planning to but this filter drawer for my dslr telescope setup, purely for imaging purpose using Antilia 5nm 2" filter. Plz help to understand is there a thread after the filter drawer to mount the extension tubes for attaining focus. I will unmount the 20mm extension tube and keep the other 2 extension tube to maintain the 55mm gap for focus as I belive the filter drawer has 21mm width.
There are threads on both sides. On the camera side it's M42 threads, on the telescope side, it has both M42 and m48 threads. there's a small ring adapter that you can attach to make it M42 and take off to make it M48. And correct, the filter drawer is 21mm width. Let me know if you have more questions!
@Naztronomy My setup is Nikon d5500 dslr + T-Ring + field flattner + 55mm extension tube , after the FF I mount 2" baader uv ir cut filter and swap it with Antilia 5nm filter. If I follow the concept of mounting the filter drawer immediately after T-Ring, and the larger thread size of the filter will 'not' mount on the field flattener as FF also has similar threading size of filter drawer i.e. M42 in the side that goes in the t-ring and the other thread M48 that goes into extention tube. What is your recommendation in this scenario
As long as you can give it either M42 or M48 threads, you'll be able to attach it to your mirrorless and your telescope. You'll have to calculate back focus though. For the RedCat, since it's a Petzval, I don't think it has a back focus requirement but I'm uncertain about the FF107.
I bought one on black Friday and already have it mounted.
Excellent quality and love that it included two drawers.
Awesome!

Wow! Including a 2nd drawer is awesome! Great review!
Thanks! I almost wanted to say that the equivalent price of a ZWO was $105 if you wanted a second holder.
Excellent, they are coming out with some great products, great video…👍🏻
Thanks 😊
This is a great review :) Very thorough and informative! I've used Svbony accessories for a while and am generally pleased with their products.
Thanks! Same experience for me and I'm hoping competition like this pushes other manufacturers to decrease their prices.
Nice. Did not know that filter drawer existed. Will be considering it.
Awesome! I have a few parts made by SVBony, and I think they are well made. It’s always nice to have options!
Totally agree! Especially if it's a nice budget friendly option.
Thanks for the review.
You make great videos.
I appreciate the kind words! Clear skies!

Just to be clear, will this work with an OAG *if* I use 2" filters?

Will this work with a Canon mirrorless camera on a telescope ? ( red cat 51,and ZWO ff 107 )

Thanks . I’ll be using a low profile camera adapter to achieve 55mm back focus with Canon RP .
Great video !! I’ve subscribed!!
