  • In this plugin Walkthrough I'm looking at the famous Pultec EQ which is a Universal Audio plugin for UAD cards. The plugin is very well modeled after the original hardware, as most UA-plugins are. It captures the tonal qualities of the original including the harmonic distortion caused by it's components.
The legendary Pultec EQ is a well known 'passive' type of equalizer, so the controls and functions might be a bit different than what you're used to. In this video I'm doing a complete walkthrough.

By the way, I know Waves also has a version of the Pultec as a plugin available as vst. (I'm not sure if it will sound the same as the one by Universal Audio though, which are known for making pretty complex and good emulations of original hardware)

Excellent, thank you. The different sections of the Pultec have always been confusing before. Now it makes more sense!

Hi there, the pultec EQ plugin is modeled and 'emulated' after the hardware Pultec Equalizer.
It is made by Universal Audio so you will need to have a UAD card or an Apollo Audio interface to be able to run these plugins. (*Their plugins run on the DSP on these cards so they actually don't use the dsp processing power from your computer.) Hope that answers your question.

Thanks a lot Wim, I am glad you like it!
I have been working on the second book since Januari, and I recently have made some new things for it to make it more complete and I try to have it about the same amount of pages as the previous book. (Which is a lot of info about frequencies!) I do try my best to complete it soon, but think it will take me at least a couple of weeks to have it online.

You should pimp your wears out to some companies...Steinberg, Native Instruments and whoever else comes to mind and get them to pay you to make tutorials :)
