You might be referring to the (too many) munchkin cats in the video. They look cute, but rarely have a fulfilling life, other cats treat them like handicapped, and couldn't ever survive on their own.
I have a neighbor who “walks” his cat. Pretty sure they’re still in the learning phases because they never go past the mailbox, but mostly the cat just wanders around the front yard on a leash while the guy stands vigilantly behind it. I’m not a cat expert but it sure looks happy to me
I once shared a house with someone who had 2 dogs and a cat. I loved taking the dogs for walks every afternoon. At some point the cat decided to join, always keeping to the side a bit but followed the same path I took the dogs.
My dad lives alone and has 3 strays he took in. He takes each one for walk with leash daily. They line up by the door and patiently wait for their turn.
My cat simply hates going out past the front door. I can literally leave the doo open and he will either not care or sit and stare outside. Actually gives me more confidence without the worry if he would ever escape.
You’re so lucky. My cat likes to go out… but he doesn’t want me to find the “Hangout Space” so he will slip out when I’m not looking. And when I call him to finally come back home, he has the nerve to want me to move away from the doors and windows…so I can’t see which way he came from 🤨 My husband says that my cat has a girlfriend he doesn’t want Mama knowing about 😂😂😂 He might be right
@@Lokey21cats are so funny😂 my cat is so determined to escape every time the door opens. When he does get out he runs into the yard, gets scared and then starts yelling for me😂 I try taking him on walks with a harness and sometimes it goes fine, but a couple times he has escaped and he runs straight back to the door
How I did it: 1. Create a bond with your cat at home (play with them, give treats, etc) 2. Get your cat used to the harness, then add the leash (encourage your cat to follow you, use treats and play) 3. Go in your garden or a quiet space outside with the harness on, see if your cat can follow you in a new space, look at their behaviour - if they are curious, keep going. If they don't feel comfortable maybe just leave them at home. Some cats prefer to look outside of a window rather than go outside. 4. Go on a short walk with your cat 😊 Once you've been on walks with a leash, you might consider taking the leash off. I started off in my back garden to make sure I know how my cat acts without a leash outside, and once you decide to go on a short walk without a leash in an open space I suggest a tracking device just in case they run away. You might also want to teach your cat a few tricks. "Come here" is very useful on walks. I also use "wait" quite often. Other than that tricks can also be a fun way of bonding with your cat. For people new to cat tricks, you should always start with the command "sit". It is the easiest to teach and you will be able to see if your cat is willing to cooperate with you and do things you tell them to. A good tool to use would be a clicker, and if course rewarding with treats. I taught my cat to walk off leash around my area within a few months. I still keep her on the leash when it gets busier though, just in case. Some cats are easy to train, others are almost impossible, so keep that in mind - don't force your cat to go outside. Wow. That turned out longer than it was supposed to be 😅
Most people just let their cats go outside on their own (unless it's in the middle of a big city) as they are smart enough to come back home every time
Bro yeah FR like my cat was would go out everytime itself and would come back everytime and one day it left on her own while we waited for days for it to come but it just never returned 🙁💔
