Troubleshooter looks to be a hidden gem kind of game. It's not nearly as popular as games like Fire Emblem or Triangle Strategy, but this it the third or fourth time I've seen a UA-camr mentioning Troubleshooter in a top 10 or top 15 list. I may have to toss that one on my Steam wishlist.
I have it on my steam deck and it's by far one of my favorite tactics games. The way you build your team based of your preference is awesome so many possibilities.... Also I rather comment on UA-cam but thought it was worth telling someone about this game
I was very surprised at how much I was invested in 13 Sentinels. I don’t like visual novels at all but the way they told the story through them was incredible. The battles were so engaging as well, loved it!
Only two weeks ago I was able to touch FE3H for the first time and I just fell in love with it! I'm already through the two houses and I really like the plot. The battle system is quite easy but pretty nice, although I value this game so much for the social links between the characters of the game. This system is really great, and because of it you know, that the world isn't just about you, other characters too have their lives, troubles, joys and relationships. And it's really nice compared to my beloved Persona series, when social links are just between the main character and the other guys. I highly recommend to play Fire Emblem: Three Houses if you haven't already.
Never played it before, but I bought the remake of 1. I'm waiting for the remakes of 2 and 3 to release before I start. I'm not a fan of mechs, but I'm starving for quality SRPGs. The genre has been ignored for far too long.
I think Symphony of War is easily the best on this list. Fire Emblem continues to be a solid experience, but I don't think 3 houses and especially Engage... They are not that great. Honestly, sometimes Engage flat out sucks, the story and characters are laughably bad, the combat system carries the whole thing
Yep, engage story is meh. But since i love fire emblem for its tactical combat experience, I feel like Engage offers the best combat experience at the moment. As for Three Houses, well, i just love life sim experience like persona (and also the high replayability value), so yeah it's a bit of a biased.
@@JoelRPG Yep, the Persona gimmicks in Three Houses are entertaining, but goddamn this game drags on. Not every character sucks like in Engage, there is some nice characters here and there, hence why the Persona gimmicks works in 3H, if Engage had Persona gimmicks... yikes. That Marvel card game is an example, terrible written characters interacting in a Persona wannabe, it just doesn't work
Relayer is decent. The story isn't very interesting, and it's told through Visual Novel scenes. The battles can be pretty samey. They all take place in a big square grid, with little variation. Still, I got a decent amount of enjoyment out of it.
@@konstantinos-iliasstrempas4594 Yes, but then people actually played it, hated the characters and story, and the poor word-of-mouth made it sell much less.
Whats the deal with ranking Triangle Strategy very low on every list?Does it have bugs? Its a game from 2022 with one of the best retro looks i have seen. And in a way games like this are art. Story driven art. I would not even bother, if its not a Fire Emblem, Shining Force, Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle or now this SoW game. Mechs and Pokemon seem to be so out of place. Maybe more accurate lists can be done in the future. Like using High fantasy and Science Fiction categories and how the gameplay really looks like. Would anyone really compare a Tactics Ogre Reborn with a Pokemon game? Come on! Just a suggestion to improve the quality of your content!❤

How does it play on steam deck?
@@rafaelrodriguez9371 it plays very well in my opinion I have had no issues
Nice list. Would also like to recommend SD Gundam G Generation Series.
I'm not sure if it's considered a modern tactical rpg, but I really love Stella glow on the 3ds!
Triangle Strategy, Tactis Ogre and Symphony of war❤️

What? I didn't even know about that Pokemon tactical game!
haha most people didn't know about it either
i'll put Browndust 2, i know it's a typical mobile game full of microtransaction and stuff but the story and the graphic sells it for me
Nice recommendations, anything on diofield chronicle?
Unique combat approach, but that's about it. Not quite resonate with me
I want to see The Lonely League on a rank like that someday ❤
Ogre Battle 64!
Atlus published 13 sentinals, Vanillaware developed it
What game is the thumbnail character from?
super robot wars 30
no shin megami tensei V?

@@guruthosamarthruin4459 thanks a lot sir
I can only really recommend Valkyria Chronicles, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses (hopefully the series recovers from the tragedy that was Engage).
engage was very good and it had more pre-orders than three houses
@@konstantinos-iliasstrempas4594 Yes, but then people actually played it, hated the characters and story, and the poor word-of-mouth made it sell much less.
why does everyone hate engage? It looks better than boring houses
@@yhwach1 Terrible characters and story.
@guruthosamarthruin4459 but easily superior gameplay. No idea where all these people came from perfering story over gameplay in a videogame.

Fell Seal? Serious?
I wish I can play fire emblem engage on pc
you can play on emu :)
Glad to see no FFT
I know "modern" technically means "recent", but I do not expect to see 2D games on a "modern" list...
JRPG's are so dumb... pass...

then stay on the woke west trash
Engage and 3H is the best 👌
