It's pronounced "oo-boo-n-too". The word originates from a Zulu name Ubuntu, meaning 'I am because you are' or 'humanity'.
Glad someone explained it
It's such a fitting name for open source. SA to the world.
Haha to say that linux is just a kernel is like telling someone that a ferrari is just a internal combustion engine usually v12-16 bolted to a frame usually made of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials... meaning.. although your answer is absolutely correct; if you are trying to explain what ubuntu and linux are, do you honestly think that person is going to know what a kernel is??
the videos background music is so loud your voice is getting diverted.. i had to put lot of effort to understand what you are trying to say since the music creates lot of diversion. pls consider this.
That Dota 2 intro got me.
that's how they catch you these days
Hey thanks for the video. this convinces me to use Ubuntu. i have never used this before and am looking to use it for c++ programming for virtual reality gaming. do you think this would work? ill be using Unity / UE4
This is the first time I've ever seen someone answer a question with a sneeze.
@@CELTICSAVAGE32 , LOL!! AHHHHHCHHHOOOO UBUNTU!!!
Ubuntu sounds like the natural evolution of a command line based operating system to a graphical user interface.

WPS Office is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend Google Suite for cloud office, if your employer doesn't already use Office 365. For mail programs, check out Thunderbird and Mailspring, or just log into your mailbox from your web browser. For the desktop environment, I would suggest going with Plasma (which is the desktop for Kubuntu). It looks very Windows-like by default, but for people new to Linux, it might be safer to install Zorin OS (which is also Ubuntu-based). Kubuntu can look however, and I mean *however,* you want it to look, but for some people, the sheer number of options can be overwhelming. If you want super easy, Zorin has the ability to morph its desktop to look like Windows, Mac, or "Linux" fairly easily, and it comes with Wine preinstalled, which will help you run a great deal of Windows applications. Don't go straight for using Wine though - you may be disappointed. You're always better off using an app that's made for Linux.
it's the first time in my life i heard anyone familiar with computers pronounce each letter individually for GNU.
I imagine It's a way to sidestep potential criticism if you kept the G silent or not when just saying it conventionally as a single syllable.
but your approach is, ironically, the most awkward sounding! 🤣😂
Thanks for an otherwise great video.
bro if you trynna play steam games on Linux DO NOT get it steam has an abysmally short and underwhelming amount of games for Linux and is surprisingly hard to download a configured version of windows on Linux to get those windows games
The only thing I understand in this video is dota2
There is no "best Linux distribution". The best Linux distribution is the one that fits your particular use cases.
I may be an exelent ape - All I understand from this I can Download on win10 Ubuntu and play great games like in win10. Or I am wrong?
You got it a bit wrong mate, you don’t simply “download” Ubuntu. Ubuntu is an operating system. In the same way that windows is what you see when you start up your comp and all you do on your machine is an extension of windows functionality, Ubuntu would have to take window’s place on your machine (unless you’re using a virtual machine, which is like an artificial computer inside your computer). Also, Ubuntu doesn’t have every game steam has, steam is simply compatible with Linux and has compatible games, but basically every game dev is focused on windows compatibility foremost because windows is still the operating system most people use.
Not clear
OMG u play DotA ? U should do a Linux tweaks to run DotA better video then.
GaNew
and still I don't understand it.
This isn't the history of ubuntu, you're just telling us what ubuntu is.
Zzz...
Yes. A might play this video in the background as a method to put me to sleep.
This monotone voice is perfect.
