I came back here to say how much I enjoyed tonight's concert of you two in Saffron Walden (24th Nov). I meant to tell you in person, but both of you looked so tired at your desk after the performance, we felt we better leave you in peace and tell you here. The Schubert was absolute magic, more so in life than in recording. But the Stravinsky, well, no performers have quite managed to make my English friend and me (both music lovers for decades) listen to and enjoy Stravinsky. But you did. It says everything about musicians if they reach the ignorant listener with music that they don't normally enjoy that much. Thank you so much for that fantastic experience. I'm very grateful to have discovered Pavel in September in Wigmore Hall, his Chopin concert was a birthday gift for me (Chopin lover here), I knew nothing about either of you before. And here I am now, came all the way from Leipzig just for 2 days to see your concert. 😅 Thanks again for bringing that fantastic music to life. And please, record more! 🤓 PS: Come to Leipzig!
Thank you so much for your kind words and coming all the way to Saffron Hall ❤❤ actually, before that concert we have just done our next duo recording in Paris which will be released in June next year on Harmonia Mundi. Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans in our calendars in Leipzig right now, but will come to Berlin on February 2nd for the Into The Open Music Festival 😍🎹😍
@MrSamsonT Thank you for responding. 🙏 Wonderful to hear about the recording!! For the concerts, my English friend lives in Saffron Walden, so I will be able to catch some of your concerts in UK now and then. Berlin is fine, too! Take care, wish you both a wonderful Christmas time and a great start of 2025! 🤗
Incomparably magnificent playing. I just received the Schubert/Desyatnikov album yesterday, and the ensemble playing is marvelous-almost supernatural in its perfection and beauty!
The collaboration is special, and the duo are self evidently lovers of this timeless masterpiece. I really enjoyed it, though I wish they’d slowed down the lyrical middle section. Overall though, wonderfully enthusiastic music making.
They are partners who live together in north London, which as with Britten and Pears and many hetero couples brings a tangible sense of intimacy to their playing.
NY Times article brought me here. Can't imagine a better performance of this pinnacle of four-hand piano. Of course, Schubert's last few months seem like one pinnacle after another.

Like one person with 4 hands. Such sensitivity and passion in both of them! Love their 4-handed work!
