  • Today, October 21, 2013, at approximately 5:38 a.m., LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Las Vegas Boulevard to investigate reports of a shooting inside a resort nightclub. Arriving officers were met by property security who advised the suspected shooter was taken into custody.
A preliminary investigation by LVMPD Homicide Detectives indicate that the suspect who was later identified as 41 year-old Benjamin Frazier walked into Drai's Afterhours Lounge where a dispute ensued between Frazier and a front door security host over the cover charge. Frazier drew a handgun shooting the host and then another security door person. Frazier then exited the front doors into the casino where a patron tackled him from behind. The patron wrestled Frazier to the ground and sustained gunshot wounds. Frazier was taken into custody by assisting security personnel.
The victims were transported to UMC trauma where the heroic patron succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims were treated for non-life threating wounds.
Benjamin Frazier was transported to UMC with unknown injuries and has been booked in absentia. He has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
A previous booking photo of Frazier accompanies this release. The identity of the deceased and the exact cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Was getting back the price of admission worth life in prison? Las Vegas is actually a really cool place to live. We have cheap rent, lots of freedom, low taxes and tons of entertainment. Why ruin all that over nothing? C'mon people let the ego go, call it a night, go home and live to enjoy another day. Our prisons are already full of tough guys who couldn't let it go.
