    This is 1 of my top 10 favorite albums. Her voice just makes you feel so good!

    I saw Maria sing this many years ago at The Ash Grove in L.A.!! She was, and still is amazing!!

    It just doesn't get any better than this. No one has the pitch, tone and inflection and phrasing of Maria. She is in a class by herself and this song is classic--the best version that will ever be sung.

    A totally unique and unmatched voice. This is her very best. An incredible gift.

    I've loved her singing since "I'm a Woman" with Kweskin. I don't think I've heard Sebastian do this country blues style before (with a hint of N.O. jazz) and I really like it!

    "Red rooster says, "Cock-a-doodle-do" Richland woman says, "any dude will do". What a great line.

    He has his guitar tuned a half step low, so it comes out as the key of B, though if you could see his left hand, it would appear that he's playing in C. The basic progression is F - C - G - C

    A knock out by Maria Muldaur. (Never heard of her; what cave have I been in?) What an interpretation. Who-eee, c'mon, Mama. Sebastian's tasty guitar licks are a generous bonus. Loved his Lovin' Spoonfuls. Thanks for this post.

      My favorite was her version of "Any Old Time", for the same reasons.

    "Midnight On The Oasis" lady. Played fiddle and sang in the Kweskin jug band in the 60's.

      Richland Woman Blues was on the B side of Midnight At The Oasis-incidentally. Maria first met her husband Geoff in the Jim Kweskin Jug Band originally.

    Fabulous Maria! I'm convinced that "There's nuthin' you can't sing"...it's gotta' be a Gene Soul Thing! Woooohooo....now write that down, it rhymes - love how you bring
    our own gifts out. Yes, that's when you know that you have "connected"...Thank you.

    Been a fan since "Midnight at the Oasis" right up to Tuba Skinny; she's sung in many genres and with an array of great musicians. Why the hell is she not in the Musicians Hall of Fame goddamn it?

    @bcxcheersx8 yes, I think it was Deirdre la Porte, on Stoneground's 'Family Album'. A gem. I've still got the vinyl disc but it's a bit knackered.

    I'm glad to discover this woman there is so much more to her than midnight at the oasis . The cd collection of her music is now growing fast. So much better than the stuff you here and see on the X factor

    • @11carbuff19572011
      @11carbuff19572011 5 років тому

      What you hear & see on the X Factor TV show is verging towards the progressive/AOR and is enough to make Saturday night TV viewers drowsier than before.

  • @tombreen55
    @tombreen55 11 років тому +1

    Agree, I like the Jim Kweskin version a bit more. Think the sublime guitar playing might also be better in that version (not that there is anything wrong with John Sebastian compared with the rest of us).
