Kate was just being a good protective mother looking after her newborn! Love the name Jupiter. Not only planets, but Neptune was the Roman god of the sea; and, Jupiter was the Roman god of the sky and thunder. Awesome legacy for the new calf! Really appreciate you pointing out the mistake made that could have turned out more serious! Even the most docile cow can wreck havoc when it’s protecting its offspring! Great reminder for the viewers Tom!👏👏👍👍
@@micpotato8158 you dont want to crush a cow in calf, its comfier for them to not crush them, as well as allowing them the freedom to be able to lie down ETC....
Totally made my day seeing that little baby being born and coming to life with mom taking care of him. At that moment all the world is right. King Neptune lives on. Thanks for sharing. Spencer
At the ripe old age of 65, I am delighted to continue to learn from Tom who has a natural feel for using his cameras to show how to do assisted calving.
Being a Scot seeing these baby Highlands are just gorgeous hopefully one day IL get to see these lovely beauties well-done Tom and family great job as always 😊
I've worked with Highlands on a farm which had a small petting area attached my experience has been that Highlands are great mother's and very patient animals however those horns are no joke and if they want you to really move then they will move you. I've seen a Highlands carry 3 portable fences on her horns across a yard when it got separated from its calf due to a emergency vet call.
Congratulations on the new arrival of Jupiter. He is absolutely gorgeous & delighted Mum & calf are doing good. Neptune has definitely left his legacy on the farm. Thank you for being honest Tom about what happened. As mentioned, she was just protecting her baby. A good reminder for us all about not getting too complacent.
Congratulations on the new baby Jupiter. Great job Kate !! She is a protective mom that’s awesome. Glad you are ok Tom and showing what can happen. Love your channel.
Fair play to ya Tom for leaving that insistent in your video. It's a very real part of farm. Life stock are not pets at the end of the day and no matter how well handled they are you have to watch yourself are your animals. 👍🏼 Great to see another healthy halfbred highland. 👌🏼
You're a rockstar. Kate is a wonderful mum, and baby Jupiter is precious. Such a wonderful, educational, and entertaining vid. Thank you for sharing moments like this!
I turned 54 last week, and I can easily say this was within the top 100 best moments I have been witness on UA-cam. Does not exactly come close to the birth of my children or any other children in my family or friends, but f*ck new life and a happy mum made me smile and shed a tear. Thank you for capturing and sharing this video, again sad to say I never truly understood the life of a farm until began watching your videos
Happy to see a fuzzball all healthy and full of beans. Kate wanted you to give a safety disclaimer. What a great mom. Ginger Warrior looked pleased as punch too.
Highlands are very protective mother I once got flattened by one while I was trying to untangle her calf from the fence, when I had freed the calf the mother realised and came over to me with her head down and gave me a little rub as if to say sorry and thank you
Love watching your videos. Glad to see the baby calfs. Also glad you didn't get hurt. Thank you and family for taking such great care of your animals God Bless
Bravo - well done. We just had to do the same thing yesterday with our heifer. What a stressful experience but so glad we could help - no vets around, so we're on our own here in Canada. Mom and calf are fine now.
This is why I love your channel, you're so honest, on the realities of dairy farming. A lesson was learned and you were not seriously hurt, thank goodness. Jupiter is a great name, calves are cute
Oh Kate! Protecting the one she loves most from the human who loves her most and saved her life. Just a reminder for us all. To be fair she she did hold back her charge quite a bit which is great for Tom. Thanks Tom for leaving the incident in the vlog. Bet family and staff were glad she was by the house. Creature comforts.
Congrats and for being honest leaving the 'nudge' in. Jupiter very appropriate, it's in 'opposition' and brightest on 19th August low in the South East skies after sunset, between Preston and Southport, seen from Lytham... Also Jupiter close too, got some good views in my 'scope in the back garden. Use binoculars if to hand. Anorak now hung up! 🔭👍😎🇬🇧
Went to your farm shop on Wednesday and met your dad. Great guy! Saw your beautiful highlands with their calves. Also got a few items from the shop and had the Yorkshire pudding wraps, amazing!!! Also the raw milk was delicious and so creamy! Coming from Scotland we can’t get raw milk.
always found new calved heifers and older bulls to be more likely to charge. Heifers can get a big adrenalin rush post calving that can come out as anger towards farmer or even calf. If a new calved cow sniffs me whilst i'm near them i back away straight away it's usually a warning sign in my experience! My neighbour learn't the hard way with his first highland heifer, it threw him over a wall.
Kate is a great mum best thing to do by stepping in did you spray his naval at same time as didn’t see great addition to the farm welcome to the world Jupiter your a little belter and I love your colouring well done Tom for stepping in when you did take care stay safe x
Well done Tom, appreciate your honest intro about farm safety. Few folks realize how many are injured or worse on farms. Would be funnier, if she didn't have horns that could go right through you. You looked a wee bit shocked.
Congratulations beautiful colour calf showing the mother protecting her baby is real life education. Be proud Tom your love of your animals is rewarding.
Another great video Tom always lovely to see a calf born outside instead of a shed far healthier. It's a mazing the danger we are beside very day and we can take forgranted
Accidents can happen so easily with such big animals. Glad it was just a warning shot, and that you listened! Even the most experienced farmer can make a mistake and things can go wrong with even the most routine of tasks (from experience).
A proper family affair that. Jupiter looks so cute. Glad you got off lightly with that "gentle nudge" you got, your relationship with them probably helped that I presume so good warnings for others.
Nice to see somebody using a vink calving aid as they should be used- seen too many people think it's a race and pull pull pull, which don't do mum much good at all, tearing her etc. I always used to compare a tight calving to landing a big fish- take the slack, ease the end the jack down real slow letting the cow strain, move the end of the jack up, pull the slack, rpt slowly, patiently. And a live calf from a tough calving was always the reward from patience and caring for the cow n mum!!
I'm over here typing Pluto out before you even say it. I love how the name i picked last time was the one you went with. The planet theme is definitely amazing. Need some cows to enter that planet theme now Tom.
What’s ginger guys favourite saying danger never takes a day off glad she just gave you a warning and didn’t take it any further another cracking calf and a great little video keep up the good work
Amazing to see someone for once accept their mistakes and show other people to prevent someone from injury or potential death - well done Tom 👍!!!

So lovely that your whole family is around and involved, you’re a lucky guy!
It looks like she was keen to continue the astronomy theme by launching Tom into space.
Good one 🤣 👍👍
😂
Always a high risk situation .you may think that they are pets but when their hormones change it is a different story
Ahh he's gorgeous. Welcome to the Pemberton family Jupiter. Glad your ok Tom. 💞🤗🍀
I just love it seeing new life on the farm my angus gave birth a couple weeks back calves are just too cute good to see neptune lives on

You did a great job Tom. Proud dad you are. Now we all get the joy of watching Jupiter grow. How exciting for us.
💕Love how Kate had her eyes on you💕She don’t trust you around her baby yet💕
I stopped by the farm today to see the new arrivals. Just so beautiful - both mammas very proud

Compared to the Holstein I'm used to, they look very muscled and definitely know how to use their horns to good effect.

Congratulations on the new calf! And thank you for leaving the mistakes in. Proves you’re human lol.
Congratulations on your new addition... another handsome Neptune highland mix...
Have a good day 🌻🌻🌻
Saw Jupiter and Bruno yesterday whilst at the farm shop. Cute lil things 👍🐄
Jupiter is adorable. Mum definitely had a surge of mothering instinct. Glad you were not injured.

Just like us, sometimes emotion gets the better of you, especially when your child is in danger.
So lovely she 'apologized!'
Glad it all turned out for the mother, calf and yourself !
Tom, stay safe. I have had 4 customers hospitalised and one killed by either a bull or recently calved cow. STAY SAFE

We use to have highlands but we’re never aloud to be in the field with them, as they were still completely wild
Very honest of you to leave the incident in Tom 👏🏼
Great to see the highland herd growing Tom
