Tom don't apologise mate you've got to remember it's a family business first youtube last right at the end of the list. My heart breaks for farmers a lot of shit goes on and farmers are the ones who always get the worst of it. So glad you've sorted it.xx
Tom! Farm comes first! First you handle it, then you UA-cam it!!! Also that way we get the whole story, not the first reactions!!! Hugs! Hugs! Hugs! I very much admire how J was handling it! I sure she was terrified! I don’t know if I could have stood there and carried on as gracefully as your wife did!!
Know how you feel locked up with TB from March tested every 60 days since 5 with TB the first test tested 60 days late 1 with TB tested 60 days late 6 had TB testing on Tuesday 19 fingers crossed
You are so lucky Tom a little bit of tb we had foot and mouth and lost everything now I’m driving a large truck to Europe and back weekly I felt suicidal when it happened so you and family keep your chins up pls thanks kev
Devastating news, hopefully you’re completely clear now. Thank you for posting these videos and letting people see the good, bad and the very ugly, of farm life
No he absolutely did the right thing by making this video. If he had tried to hide this sort of thing it would have been the wrong move. Things like this would have gotten out and been a scandal of sorts. Typically i would be critical of Tom and bash him and his father for letting this happen. But its not needed.
Sisters in Wellies, also recently got the dreaded TB test results.... Tragic all around 😣. But the war on TB is still a hot conflict. I grew up in the Era of mandatory yearly chest x-rays at school. I've visited a country side TB sanatorium. We never want to return to the days when those things were common-place.
I'm not a farmer, but I have a fair understanding of how devastating TB can be (I work in the NHS). My heart just sank when I read the title of this video. Hopefully you guys are coming out the other end of this. Thank you for sharing this video as it has educated me on how the screening process works and I sincerely hope, no.... check that, I know that as a farm you will recover from this and as you say you have come through the other side.
Man, that must have been tough what with all your other commitments going on at the time and having us all asking about the new parlour. Always put your family and business first mate. Your YT extended family all support you. Feel for any farmer who goes through this. 😢
I remember commenting on one video how he was looking stressed and putting it down to the parlour, bale milking etc. Goodness it must have been devastating at the time. Tom is such a positive young man, he's done such an incredible job bringing the farm to where it is now and coped with more obstacles than most, covid, the jump in feed, fuel and material prices, the reality of becoming a father shortly and he gets this thrown in. I have so much respect for him. I'm so glad he is having such a happy end to this year, the safe and healthy delivery for Jo of Harvey, the parlour being everything he wanted, and by the sounds of it getting a handle on the TB, he deserves it.
@trippinggauntlet4520 Very well said. This young chap has his head screwed on, and his parents have raised a very well-balanced young man. He is a credit to not just British farming but to farmers worldwide with the struggles they face on a daily basis to do all those thing and then document it all on social media is incredible ❤️
Sorry to hear your news Tom. We'll never forget the day we went down in a big way, 43 cows lost on our annual test. Over 2 years now, 108 cows lost. Skin tests every 60 days and 2 gamma tests later we're still not clear.
TOM, you, your dad, and all your family and staff work incredibly hard to make your farm and business the best you can. Please never apologise for doing the right thing, sir. We could all see how devastating it was for you all. WE, your subscribers and followers love the way you share your life, warts, and all, for that we Thank You.
Absolutely heartbreaking, you can see how gutted everyone was which just goes to show how much care you give to your animals. Farmers in the UK are currently fighting so many things from not getting what they are due from those they sell onto, the pure amount of red tape to get funding they've been promised and the myriad of diseases out there. I hope and pray that you're clear at the next round of testing and never apologise for anything Tom.
Fair play to you Tom for showing this. And well done Lizzie for being on camera and explaining everything. All your videos are a great watch, this one not so much but you know what I mean.
` I don't think I've watched a Farm Life video that made me cry before, but this one sure did. Tom's clear devastation and that poor cow walking off to an early death just broke my heart. I can't imagine how hard this must have been for the whole team. So unexpected on a well run farm. 😟Bless Tom for his willingness to share this painful journey with us. As horrible as this is, it will also be interesting to see how the situation gets resolved.
I don’t think you can underestimate how useful and educational this content is. Where I live there was a huge amount of uproar regarding the Badger cull, where people didn’t grasp how serious the rise in TB is and how damaging it is. Clarksons farm touched upon it and I thought that was very useful info and now you’re educating us from a slightly different angle. I choose to eat meat, drink milk etc, part of that choice comes with a responsibility of understanding how that food gets from field to plate and all of the “not so nice” farming practices that come with it, controlling wildlife populations being one of those practices. Very much looking forward to the next two instalments. We progress far more effectively when we’re out of our comfort zone or when we’re met with exceptional circumstances, I bet you’ve come out of this as a fitter and stronger business and you’d have gained new and invaluable knowledge along the way. Step back, take stock of the last couple of years, I bet you give yourself a pat on the back 👍
My heart breaks for the farmers who do everything right and still have this devastating diagnosis. Hold your head high, you did the best for all concerned. Your You-Tube audience should be the least of your worries. We will continue to support you because of your honesty, integrity, and devotion to your herd and family.
Totally shocked that you had such a horrible thing happen to the farm and the family 😢 Thank goodness your family is so supportive of eachother. Our love and prayers to you all that this gets over with and that it never happens again ❤
My cows was tested on TB a few weeks ago but thx God they are ok. I can't even imagine what you felt at that time and now. So sorry for you.. sending love!!
Wow the devastation on your face when you find out Tom. It made me feel sick. It instantly broke you in half. Thank you for putting this video up and like people say it happens. It’s not your fault and you are one of the best livestock farmers around. Don’t stop being you Tom 👍
Absolutely gutted for you Tom, it’s a crying shame such a fit healthy animal, this is why we all love your content so much you show the true ups and downs of day to day farming 👍🏻
Thank you for showing this. My uncle is a dairy man in the south west. In recent years it's been celebrating the times when they aren't restricted. Selling to orange markets or tb isolation units has become normal.
I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with this! Funky Farmer had to deal with it as well, I believe his came from some badgers or wildlife in the fields. Hope you guys can bear through all of the testing, processes, losses and carry on without too much damage mentally and in terms of the herd.
i dont think we have the same disease here in the states but deer carry some nasty stuff that can kill a cow in as little as 24 hours here that theres no treatment for just vaccines
Tom, you should never have to feel obliged to share anything on UA-cam. It should be entirely your choice, and if you don't share something, no one has a right to judge any less of you. That said, we appreciate you showing the world what a stress the whole TB issue is to us livestock farmers.
I’m literally crying as I’m sure you all were with such fear that you could have lost all your beautiful animals. How on earth have you carried this stress around you as well as the dairy build and the bale? Thank you for sharing this so that we all understand the devastation it can bring. Hopefully now you are on the other side of this but not something you will ever forget. Love to you all ❤❤
We are SOOOO sorry this happened! An absolute nightmare for any farmer! This comes waaay before UA-cam. Glad your dear wife is okay now and you have sweet baby boy. The family business is so important too. Our hearts break with you.
so sorry to hear the news tom,and family , but you will get through it ,our farmer butcher we use went through similar last year,he lost his pedigree bull and 7 others to it, but as you found out ,he was still able to sell meat ect ,its great your sharing fully as it will help the non farmers understand as well
Brilliant video Tom, very honest and the truth about Tb. I had the terrible job of collecting Tb cattle and had full grown men crying on my shoulder, it absolutely ruins farms and family's. 90% of cattle that are slaughtered on a skin test don't have it. Also as you are a closed herd, how has one cow out of 300+ reacted, surely it would wipe through your herd as they have no immunity against it. Like how only one cow. I hate Tb the test is rubbish and I needs looking at. Tom you did a fantastic job showing how it effects farms and also how little sense It makes.
32:16 when Tom is not looking at the camera. Massive lump in my throat totally felt for him. The comment about couldn’t be arsed to film I just wanted to give the lad a hug😢
Tom, I can't imagine what your family is going through. Fingers crossed its just a Big glitch. Hang in there!! We all know you take good care of your herd.
Tom, Andrew and family, as someone who grew up on a livestock farm I fully understand this nightmare that you have gone through. It really is very, very disheartening and a huge worry. Whilst your immediate locality will have learnt of this news via the grapevine almost as quickly as you learnt about it, you are still very courageous to inform the wider world. I salute that courage and your transparency and good old fashioned honesty. Especially as you know as I that there will be customers to the farm shop that will stop coming, saying things like "just to be on the safe side" but what I would like them to know and I hope this video will educate is that if the meat is in the farm shop or any shop, it is on the safe side. Very much so. There are many faults with the UK, but adherence to regulations by farmers, veterinarians and food testing is not one of them. Even if there was a rogue in the midst of this chain, they would still be found out in one of the other steps in the process. This is why the consumer should buy British meat. With the government's backing of re-wilding the countryside and an ever increasing ban on culling, I am afraid that the cases of TB are going to increase. I am not a fan of the daft hunting in fancy clothes on horses for the sake of it, but you absolutely must have controlled culls of wildlife populations to retain a balance and a healthy domestic livestock flock and herd. Re-wilding and culling go hand in hand together and the general public need to understand this. These videos are very important Tom. Very important.
Wow. Just wow. You could really hear the disbelief in your voices as you discussed the initial result. Absolutely heartbreaking. Nobody wants to see something that horrible happen to you, especially given the amount of money you have been spending on the farm. You are showing some of the rawest realities of farming, and that can't be easy to do, but in the name of public education, I'm so glad you are.
I can see from your reaction how much of a shock this was and a massive kick in the nuts. Business always comes first but i am really grateful that you shared this story with us. Farming isnt always rainbows and sunshine and this is real life. As you said though, its happened and now you have to move on. For me the reaction of the whole team shows just how much this situation affects you all and just how much you and the team care. Keep your chin up lad
Oh Tom, we found that so hard to watch. Having followed you for quite a while and even visited you farm shop we just felt so bad for you. Could just seem that pain you was going through.
Tom from experience this year I went down with tb this year in Ireland and the cow got tested when she was being blood tested she never had tb so we spent 4 months locked up before we could get out even though never had it
Wow Tom 😢 my heart sunk seeing your face mate!! But what an incredible story you have shared with us all the wonderful things that really happens on a day to day basis on a fantastic farm I’ve watched you grow and not agreed with you on everything you have done 👍 but to put out this video for you and your dad was embarrassing 😳 for you all but at the same time you have a duty to inform and educate others like us none farmers thank you to you for one and your family for the understanding of how the ups and downs of farming can be Tom 100% bro 👊 keep up the hard and heartbreaking work you all do and thank you for your service and milk I enjoy every single day!! ❤
You have done what you always said you will tell it as it is. Thanks from WildWoodFarm Canada. We raise a small heard of Galloways and love working them.
Tom my heart go's out to you n Ginger, my grandfather suffered a great loss many many year's ago from tb ,he was only a small farmer & suffered a great loss from foot n mouth . The government came onto the farm dug a massive hole into ground n one by one the whole herd was slaughtered. He did recover as the government paid him so much for the loss. So watching your video brought bk these memories. Hopefully fingers crossed your nightmare ends soon
Tom you have nothing to apologise for your family and business comes first. What you have done to promote farming since you have started on UA-cam is outstanding. Also the knowledge you have shared with farmer's is first class as a part time farmer I thank you and your dad for all you have done so far chin up enjoy the Christmas with your new addition
Gutted for you. I live in Devon and we do get a lot more down this way and I have worked on farms that have been subject to restrictions. It's very difficult when it happens, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Hold your head up high and keep doing what you're doing. As difficult as it is, the public needs to be aware of how traumatic it can be. Never be afraid to show your emotions. It shows how much you care about the industry in general and your animals in particular. Keep doing what you're doing. It's why we all follow your videos. 👍
Such a heartbreaking thing. Its sad that you have to hope you sent a cow to slaughter for no reason, cos the other outcome is devastating. Please never feel you have to share everything, especially straight away. Alway give yourself time to come to terms with things first and only share if and when you want to. In a way missing the notification deadline was a blessing in disguise, it gave less time for TB to hide.
I’ve no farming background at all but I’m fully invested in the content you create! I’m blown away by the work you guys do to keep the farm running and expanding it in the way it has over the last handful of years. I’m sorry to hear about the s**t you’ve had to deal with regarding this video but remember Good Days wouldn’t exist if not for the s**t days 👍🏼 keep raising awareness and keep doing what you’re doing. Unreal work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Took me back to our own problems this spring Tom. A bought in heifer (who had tested clear on her previous holding) went down as a reactor. She tested clear sfter slaughter but then . got an inconclusive who had to be quarantined for 2 months before she passed. Like you we had never had a problem before. We missed the store sles in the spring and had to graze silage ground .Hopefully by next spring we will be back on an even keel. The look on your face reminded me of how I felt that morning. Delighted to see you're out the other side, but it tests your resilience thats for sure. Wewll done for putting this video up.
Tom - even the best folks with the best practices, who do everything right, and work to learn more to keep improving, still can be felled by chance or luck. Different animals in a different continent, but with horses - sometimes it's as simple as pests getting into feed somewhere in the supply process and contaminating things, which can lead to diseases that are difficult, if not impossible to treat. I can't say I understand TB since it's not one I've encountered - but my sympathies to you, your father, and your staff. It's never easy. Taking the time to do due diligence, inform those who are impacted by it around you, was the right thing to do as you said - youtube videos are far down on the list with something like this. Never apologize for taking your time releasing something like this. Thank you for taking the time to show us, and educate us about the process. Wishing you and all peace and good fortune going forward. xx.
That was very brave of you as a family to share in your sad news. I look forward to your future content as you put this behind you and grow stronger for the experience.

I was amazed to hear your dad has been farming for 65 years. He doesn’t look a day over 45! He’s done well to stay in such good shape.

Talk about 'keep calm and carry on.' We had no idea what you guys have been going through.
Good that your showing this because its not being dealt with correctly by the farming authorities
Wow! So much more than milk. Thank you. You do a great job showing the heart in farms.
Tom no need for apologies. You are a farmer and carer af livestok they get sick and you caut it. Tank you for sharing your life.

I’m happy you have posted about the TB. As a non farmer find this interesting. Onwards and upwards Tom x
My heart breaks for all of you! I can't imagine what you are going through.
This video shows how much you love your cows and neigbours!
You have done what you always said you will tell it as it is. Thanks from WildWoodFarm Canada. We raise a small heard of Galloways and love working them.
Tom I can see the devastation in your face regarding the TB diagnosis. I am so sorry.
You are the BEST Farmer. Hang in there ❤️
Such horrible news with so much work you put into animals and from. Be thinking and sending positive thoughts and energy your way.
the All Creatures Great and Small series had TB on a farm and it gave me an idea of what could happen to your farm. I'm glad you have come through it.
I felt your pain . You and dad was so strong . I nearly cried .🤗
Gutted for you Tom. I hope it all pans out for you
Such a heartbreaking thing.
Heartbreaking for you and your family Tom. Its outside the door Tom. Hopefully ye get clear soon
how horrible, can't imagine the stress you , Ginger , the rest of your family and employees are under, I do hope the rest of the testing goes ok
I’m so sorry Tom, just when everything is going so well something like this drops on you
I’ve no farming background at all but I’m fully invested in the content you create! Unreal work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Tom hopefully she is a negative in the factory we will keep the fingers crossed blessings to ye all 👍
Poor 78! Sorry you all had to go through this. Looking forward to the follow ups.
Seeing all sides of the farm, seeing life, it opens our eyes, thankyou for sharing with us Tom. 🙏🙏🇬🇧
So sorry that happened at your farm. Least you found it quick. Chin up you guys will carry on.
I am so sorry Tom, I am devastated for you!
Horrible thing to happen Tom but Thankyou for bringing awareness of it and how it truly affects farmers
Full marks for being brave enough to put this out there Tom, I know it’s a stressful experience for you all. Keep up the good work fella.
I am so so sorry. I have been following you for such a long time. The way your government handles TB is so sad. I just can’t say I am sorry enough.
