  • Exploring down the rabbit hole that is a rusty old car. I cut the dash off and find rust. I cut the cowl shoulders off and guess what.... more rust. That's okay. It's what I signed up for.

    Not looking to bad in there. That's a relief.

      Yeah, I'm glad the inner shoulders aren't too bad. Little patch here and there and I should be replacing the cowl soon.

    I don't think I have read what brand of body panels you are using. Are you trying to use the same brand for all the panels? I have seen videos where people swear by the AMD panels, but I haven't found a source for those in Canada yet.

      I'm using whatever is readily available. The toe boards were AMD from Classic Industries. Everything else is Dynacorn from my local shop.

    What ever you do, DO NOT use butyl on your window. Use urethane. When your car sits in the sun if using butyl the glass will eventually sink lower and lower into the channel where the butyl sits. I had butyl when my 70 Z28 had the glass replaced in the front and rear and both sunk and there was about 1/8” gap under the window molding. But it’s your car, do as you please.

      Right! I couldn't remember which one was the good stuff and which one was crap. Luckily that job won't happen for a while. You may have to remind me again. Cheers!

      Ha ha ha that would be a real tragedy. I'm a true packrat and never throw anything away. I shouldn't lose it, but thanks for the reminder.

      I am just starting a 68 firebird …I’m in Cochrane ..not far away
      Rebuilt a 67 firebird 5 yrs ago but sheet metal was more plentiful and cheaper back then

      Did you find Carmine was pretty fairly priced compared to classic industries
      Or other Canadian companies (early-birds or Camaro depot)

    • @ElrodsGarage
      @ElrodsGarage  Рік тому

      Yes, I thought his prices were comparable to other Canadian sources. As well, I like supporting local businesses whenever I can. Ordering from the US is a pain because of shipping + taxes/duty + exchange rate = $$$$.
