I think a lot of these were a consequence of iracing’s lack of tracks in 2009-2010, you could really tell they were working hard to increase the track count by any means necessary
Can confirm for Pocono, all of the old configurations were raced. Pocono South even had to get an update because it was possible to cut the track through the pit lane and run faster times. On Hell Short, I think the hairpin roundabout section is used for driver training AND for training people to teach driver training.
The weird "access roads" on Hell RX are frequently used in drivers ed to simulate stuff like roundabouts and junctions found in Norway. they are also used as access roads during events of course.
To my knowledge Stafford themselves got rid of the mini oval too after they had to end the race under a red checkered because the legends cars literally could not pace without wrecking. It was the weirdest race I have ever seen
I ran an Irwindale outer inner modified race sometime last year. There was only like 3 cars in the lobby, so definitely wasn't popular, but certainly is a fun track!
Yeah I think it was like two or three seasons ago SK Mods ran there I actually had some solid fields in it. It was a lot of fun trying to set up the runs to get a pass I to Turn 3
All four of the Pocono Road courses were using during my time as a PCC rep, when the series was only Pontiac-MX5. A few were even used as recently as 2019/20 IIRC
Love this new type of content Justin, has much more personality and I couldn't enjoy it more. I predicted Oxford's mini oval correctly, those dirt mounds were wild in week 12.
According to legend, there was a celebrity enduro at Irwindale that ran the outer-inner layout back in '99 or '00. I've literally never seen this documented anywhere, other than someone correcting me in the YT comments section somewhere like 6 years ago, so take that with an ENORMOUS grain of salt
Irwindale was my home track when I raced NASCAR and I don't think outer-inner either. I've seen plenty of demo derbies run the figure 8, inner oval races for the clown cars, trailer races and such and obvious I raced the outter oval, but never a combo of the outer oval plus inner oval.
I remember about half of those from getting bored and looking for obscure configurations to test on. But I never actually knew there was configurations only available during Test Drive maintenance, that's crazy lol
Living in Southern California, and attended many Irwindale races, I can confirm I have never seen the "Outer-Inner" configuration actually ran IRL. They do run a "Kidney bean" layout for Sport Compacts. Similar looking the that of the Mid Ohio Alt Oval. I did, however, run an SK Modified Official Race on iRacing using the Outer Inner layout of Irwindale. I believe it was 2022 Season 4 Not sure the week. And thanks for the great content.
I'll always remember pocono south as the place I won the bertil roos rookie camp in 2009! It absolutely was used in real life, by bertil roos racing school a lot and presumably other car clubs. I always ran it counterclockwise but i think it could be run clockwise in real life too. However the pit road was typically the exit of the oval pit road, you would drive straight onto the oval front straight then make a u turn to the pit road. Summit point oval is a joke if you've seen it in real life there is no way you could ever race on that. Even the summit point short is not really raceable in real life, I don't think either of those configurations has ever been used.
Hey Justin, just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed you adding a little more humour to your vids. A chuckle with iRacing content? What more could anyone want?!
One track I never understood why it's not races is Daytona backstretch oval. You can run it in test drive, but not anything else. They also ran it in real life.
Kinda sucks that we can't race on the Stafford mini-mile. It's a legit legends track in real life and Stafford is a historic location. Glad to see the Oxford micro oval get some love.
I've raced on most of the Pocono roval layouts. Unfortunately they were total garbage. The track layouts are actually fine, but the implementations in iRacing were extremely poor. The trackside objects were garbage, the kerbs were garbage and basically nothing worked very well. Layout wise, they did have a few sections which were way too skinny. The current real life track has actually fixed that quite well.
I believe I still have the world record in the Pocono south layout you could just cut the pit lane and it would be faster than running the whole track by like 6 seconds I made a video of it to show iracing they eventually changed the pace speed down 10mph There was a time between Pocono rescan and legacy Pocono being free for maybe 2 seasons where Pcc or grand touring cup would run all the Pocono layouts was a great time I have a lap recorded somewhere I’ll have to find I believe it is on the old forums
Pocono use to have a small oval, also check out the track from japan forget the name, but it has like 12 layouts and one is a mini version of the others
I can name another lost track that is a legacy track from Papyrus' NASCAR 99 (Paprus/Seirra became the predecessor to iRacing)...... Evergreen Speedway in Monroe WA (Nicknamed The Super Speedway of the West!) hosted the Craftsman Truck Series in its first 5 seasons as well as Winston West for many seasons and the Late Model NASCAR NW Tour also! The track also hosted a Local Saturday Night Series on its 3/8 Mile Egg Shaped oval as well as Figure 8 racing that shared the front stretch with the 5/8 oval!......... I think iRacing could do this track most of the NASCAR series cars!
One of the Road Atlanta alternate layouts is absolutely cursed, can't remember the name, but its the one with all the added chicanes. A lot of the bigger road courses (places that host/hosted F1 races e.g. Brazil + Imola off the top of my head) have very obscure moto layouts where chicanes have just been added at strange places, and I don't think I've ever seen them raced. Oran Park also has a quite a few very obscure layouts that look completely undriveable on anything larger than a Skippy. Another one is legacy silverstone, one of the layouts (international I think but not 100% sure) is actually pretty fun to drive, but the pit lane entry is completely broken. It got raced a few times back when legacy silverstone became free, and before legacy content was paywalled, but I can't imagine its seen much action before or after. I have also raced most of those Pocono roval layouts, they were used a fair bit in lower class road series when legacy Pocono was free.
I just checked up on the Test Drive page today and there's seemingly no sign of Oxford Plains Mini, just the normal track. Did they remove it already?? lol
My dad got to go to a racing school on the turn 3 course at Pocono driving Formula Fords and one guy at the school wanted to drive around the oval. He told me he had a CD but didn’t know where it was
can you please make a video of UNRACEABLE COMBOS ?? LIKE for example the CTS-V on Summit Point, i mean come on, whatever your skills are, 25 mins driving these BOATS on such a narrow track is just... well,, you get the idea!
The Stafford mini mile would be great for TQ midgets. That, one on the backstretch at Oxford, Infield Legends at Iowa, and regular legends ovals. First time I ever used stafford mini mile was like 2 seasons ago, wonder how long its been in.
They have plenty of tracks they could hold drag races… a guy can dream ya know Figure 8 racing would be fun, and great for people that like crashing folks
They need to bring back the Oxford Plains (Mini) I know so many people who want to race on that little track but can't because it's not an actual track. They also should add the short track at Stafford because it's an actual track they use in real life for champ karts, legends, wild thing karts, ect...
I remember running Grand Touring Cup (pre PCC merger with The Mustang, Jetta, Slowstice) on Legacy Pocono South back in the day. Basically every car was the same pace because the track was so short 😅
If you were on the service when it was retired, you got it free. Then a year or so later, it was added to the legacy content and new people had to start paying for it.
On Hell Short, I think the hairpin roundabout section is used for driver training AND for training people to teach driver training.
hahaha if you cut through pit lane, then it just becomes an oval
7:28 Knocking noises...on a door that's clearly open... 😹😹😹😹
Yeah they exclusively use it for go-karts now
You know you made some bad design decisions when a safety car makes the course less safe _in real life_
The oxford mini oval is for go karts. Raced there a few times irl. Not surprising it's never been used in sim
I ran an Irwindale outer inner modified race sometime last year. There was only like 3 cars in the lobby, so definitely wasn't popular, but certainly is a fun track!
Interesting good to know!
came to the comments to say this, definitely was on the schedule last year
I ran that race in SK and SK Fixed. Was actually a fun race with an 18 man lobby. Would be fun to run that again... was really technical for an oval
@@DJYeeJay I want to say I ran some official races there in late 2012 early 2013, but can't remember for sure.
Yeah I think it was like two or three seasons ago SK Mods ran there I actually had some solid fields in it. It was a lot of fun trying to set up the runs to get a pass I to Turn 3
Just happy to bring awareness to the Hell RX road course and show how terrible it is.
Big fan
It is hell after all lol
That corner is literally the Roundabout from Hell (or Traffic Circle from Hell if you want to be American)
Ha ha ha. Love the mix of data and humorous face time on screen. Hollywood may come a calling, lol keep up the great work.
I appreciate it John!
All four of the Pocono Road courses were using during my time as a PCC rep, when the series was only Pontiac-MX5. A few were even used as recently as 2019/20 IIRC
I feel like the Pocono north RC was raced in the Kamel GT series, since IMSA raced there in the 90’s.
lmao 10:30 was even more funny with the Larson poster in the back.
Shame he got screwed by Almirola not taking tires today
I gotta have a scandal so I can come back a CHAMPION!
Love this new type of content Justin, has much more personality and I couldn't enjoy it more. I predicted Oxford's mini oval correctly, those dirt mounds were wild in week 12.
Thank you! I’ll mix these type of videos in as often as I can! It takes a lot of effort to try to be funny 😂
That was genuinely funny. Had me loling a few times, especially the alt right. Keep it up.😂😂
Irwindale was my home track when I raced NASCAR and I don't think outer-inner either. I've seen plenty of demo derbies run the figure 8, inner oval races for the clown cars, trailer races and such and obvious I raced the outter oval, but never a combo of the outer oval plus inner oval.
They should run a Monza-style outer-outer-inner-inner double oval there sometime, for even more chaos.
Justin you’re killin it with these videos recently!
Thank you best reddit shill!!!
Another obscure one is the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Infield courses. I didn’t know they existed at all until I had to race them for Screen to Speed
I remember about half of those from getting bored and looking for obscure configurations to test on. But I never actually knew there was configurations only available during Test Drive maintenance, that's crazy lol

Hey Justin, just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed you adding a little more humour to your vids. A chuckle with iRacing content? What more could anyone want?!
I second that! Love the comic relief mixed in with some quirky iRacing data.
One track I never understood why it's not races is Daytona backstretch oval. You can run it in test drive, but not anything else. They also ran it in real life.
What is it called in test drive? I can't seem to find it
There's also the Battle at the Beach oval that was never implemented for some reason.
In real life the inner Pocono layouts are used for drifting events. The more ya know!
Kinda sucks that we can't race on the Stafford mini-mile. It's a legit legends track in real life and Stafford is a historic location. Glad to see the Oxford micro oval get some love.
The mini tracks at Oxford and Stafford are go kart tracks irl, the one at Stafford still operates, the one at Oxford hasn’t since 2013
I had a league race on Irwindale outer-inner, kinda like a baby Darlington, actually enjoyed it quite a bit
The SK Mod serie did run the Irwindale Outer-Inner layout a few seasons ago
That Irwindale outer inner was used for the tour mods two seasons ago
I've raced on most of the Pocono roval layouts. Unfortunately they were total garbage. The track layouts are actually fine, but the implementations in iRacing were extremely poor. The trackside objects were garbage, the kerbs were garbage and basically nothing worked very well.

Good channel Just subbed 👍
I don't even do iRacing (too expensive) bit I love your vids. Top work!
Glad you like them! I appreciate it
I've always wondered about that summit point oval....I just don't have the dedication that you do to actualy try it.
Can confirm Pocono road courses were raced, but haven’t seen them since late 2018
10:23 killed me
Stafford's "mini mile" is where i used to race karts and thats pretty much all it used for irl
I absolutely LOVE these types of videos. Triroval was hilarious lol
Thank you!!!
I liked the lighthearted goofiness in this video
I believe I still have the world record in the Pocono south layout you could just cut the pit lane and it would be faster than running the whole track by like 6 seconds I made a video of it to show iracing they eventually changed the pace speed down 10mph

Very cool! I'm glad it actually was raced then, unfortunately all those layouts are probably not going to be run much in the future :(
I remember doing an official on Pocono South!
I ran all these Legacy Pocono road courses a couple years back in a league with the Pro Mazda. They were fun and difficult!
Pocono use to have a small oval, also check out the track from japan forget the name, but it has like 12 layouts and one is a mini version of the others
12:35 Camera is focus hunting, put it on manual and prefocus.
Ty fixed it
I can name another lost track that is a legacy track from Papyrus' NASCAR 99 (Paprus/Seirra became the predecessor to iRacing)......

I think iRacing could do this track most of the NASCAR series cars!
I loved those expansion packs. I'd drive there and Hickory and Flemington.
This was good watch thx Justin
R.I.P Daytona 500 Legacy that you could race for free
One of the Road Atlanta alternate layouts is absolutely cursed, can't remember the name, but its the one with all the added chicanes. 4:58 Sounds like a perfect '34 Legends track for a League Race...
This is Kyle Larson
Pocono international was raced in 2021S3 (I think, could be S4) in GT1/2 series, it won community meme track vote :D
Irwindale Outer Inner ran in the late models 4 years ago
My dad got to go to a racing school on the turn 3 course at Pocono driving Formula Fords and one guy at the school wanted to drive around the oval. He told me he had a CD but didn’t know where it was
What about the old daytona layout that was used for battle at the beach?
I’ll look into that!
Outer inner is fun as hell with street stocks
Yes, the Pocono international layout was indeed used in stuff like the rookie Mazda series.
@DJ Yee-J the Oxford mini oval was the go kart track
I want a series where they just run really obscure tracks like these with the most unsuitable car imaginable for each of them, simply for peak chaos.
What about Tskuba Right Oval?
can you please make a video of UNRACEABLE COMBOS ?? LIKE for example the CTS-V on Summit Point, i mean come on, whatever your skills are, 25 mins driving these BOATS on such a narrow track is just... well,, you get the idea!
I’m planning to make a video on the dumbest combos to go official!
So what I'm hearing is the next meme race is at Pocono legacy south.
2:55 irwindale spedway da track from da mrbeast vido about cars!!!!!!?????????
I have raced Pocono south road coarse in the ir18
I remember running Irwindale inner-outter
Perhaps a race with the track/car combo that produces the fastest lap times is in order.
IRWINDALE OUTIE INNIE
Stafford Mini Mile would be sweet to have...
There was also supposed to be a Stafford Roval too I guess.
Crazy that you used to be able to run the short Oxford oval because that was, irl a kart track
Wait y'all actually do your taxes???
Yes! I do my taxes! Like a good citizen! are they still listening?
@@DJYeeJay I think they’re gone now.
0:57 Riangle
Clearly you call it a Pocoroval!
Good one!
The Stafford mini mile would be great for TQ midgets. That, one on the backstretch at Oxford, Infield Legends at Iowa, and regular legends ovals. First time I ever used stafford mini mile was like 2 seasons ago, wonder how long its been in.
I believe couple years ago they actually hosted a TQ race on that track IRL
i would also put tsukuba 1000 outer in this list of cursed ovals
That was in the plans before I learned about summit point haha
They have plenty of tracks they could hold drag races… a guy can dream ya know
Figure 8 racing would be fun, and great for people that like crashing folks
I think now the know where another cursed race will take place
They need to bring back the Oxford Plains (Mini) I know so many people who want to race on that little track but can't because it's not an actual track. They also should add the short track at Stafford because it's an actual track they use in real life for champ karts, legends, wild thing karts, ect...
When are you gonna talk about Tsukuba 1000 outer for your right turning ovals?
That will probably be an addition in the next iteration
AAMS ran (a pavement dirt midget league) I think ran irwindale inner outer
Maybe it was something else but I know I raced it. If it wasn't aams maybe something with TNT on NRN
I remember running Grand Touring Cup (pre PCC merger with The Mustang, Jetta, Slowstice) on Legacy Pocono South back in the day. Basically every car was the same pace because the track was so short 😅
You should host a league w all these random tracks! I would join
Technically it's not "right after turn 1". It's "left after turn 1" 😆
little tip (RX) stands for rally cross
Yooo irwindale is my local track😂
No road course layouts on Pocono, really? They do track days all the time.
You look like you could be Joey Logano twin
Thats a new one I usually get child of Chase and Larson lol!
SRF did North pocono layout. It was mostly club cars I saw doing it:
ua-cam.com/video/O7ttZAQ00N8/v-deo.html example broadcast of it
7:26
I have never driven Irwindale outer inner.
...isn't legacy pocono free??
It was for a few years, sadly not anymore
If you were on the service when it was retired, you got it free. Then a year or so later, it was added to the legacy content and new people had to start paying for it.
Rippp
