You should probably put that in the description too, youtube seems to have a new feature where if you put timestamps in the description it shows them on the actual video's timeline.
Minor tip: start your bookmarks with 00:00 in your discription an youtube will make timestamps in the video :)

I basically sold my entire synth setup to get this synth. No regrets. It’s absolutely amazing. Best synth I’ve owned. Pairing it with an Minibrute 2, Argon8, Microfreak, and MC-707.
What an excellent dive into the Pro 3. Best one I've seen. You not only know the Pro 3 inside out, but you know synthesis principles and have interesting soundscapes and patterns to demonstrate the Pro 3's capabilities, limits, and how good this synth can sound.
This one and Tinez' deep dive are both great
You exaggerate your flattery.
Started my (fancy) synth journey with an ob6. Seemed (and is) easy to get amazing sounds. This was my next pick and while the presets got me to awesome places I was definitely feeling over my head. This video made me fall in love with it. You basically made the perfect video for someone who doesn’t have a strong handling on sound design. I’ve took the tools from this video and the Pro 3 has become a huge source of joy in my life. Thank you very very much ❤️
Hey Jeremy, this actually made me buy this synth. I watched this video months ago and fell in love with that sweet and tender patch you showed in the beginning. I got mine now after months of saving and am really happy with it. Thank you!
32:34 , that sound and sequence gorgeous!
Lol love the name of you last patch! I work down the hall from the guy who discovered the Kuiper Belt. He leaves his door open and blasts black metal all day long, no joke. He's a rad old dude.
thats rad
@@RedMeansRecording he received some international astronomy award recently and he met the king of Norway and told him he should use Black Metal to promote his country. He's like a Monty Python character, his name is Dave Jewitt.
Thanks for this. Best Pro 3 video I've seen so far. Lots of great sounds, but 35:00 is fabulous! The phaser really does crush it. Nick Batt should check out your video; he didn't like the Grunge feature, but might change his mind after hearing what you did with it.
My favorite synth purchase in a long time. The sequencer alone is enough to put it over the top, but once you start realizing all the modulation routing possibilities it's pretty mind-blowing.
Absolutely no doubt.
And now you get to bring us amazing content teaching us with it 😊
Watched your Pro 3 vs Matriarch vid. I went Matriarch since I already had the Grandmother and love the freedom of getting lost for hours in sound design with modular.
Fantastic overview! I am playing my Pro 3 SE at this very moment and I am having a blast with it! I’ve had it for a few weeks now and it is an incredibly versatile, beautiful and powerful instrument. I’ve spent days on end with it and I feel like I still have so much more to explore. I’m currently using it on several albums. I feel that it really can do just about any genre under the sun. Sequential has an instant classic on it’s hands.
Thank you! Probabibly the best Pro3 overview on the web...I can see true love!
Awesome video. I just got a Pro 3 a couple of days ago. I was able to figure out a lot of what you did here by playing around with it, but I definitely picked up some good knowledge. Especially on the sequencer! I had no idea that it was so good. The next thing I need to learn is how to make and import wavetables. Being able to bring in some of my favorite wavetables from Serum will really take things to the next level. Also, being able to create a wavetable with 16 drum hits would be amazing. Then I could import my own, custom drum kits. I never thought of this possibility until watching this video. Your sound design is imaginative and inspiring. Rubberbutt! LOL
I’ve been eyeing this synth for ages; your video is the one that pushed me over the edge; gotta have one. Buying it tomorrow 😁
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the Pro 3. Those are some great RMR patches! I've not added a synth to my studio since 2015 with the Sub 37, but this year I was compelled to pick up the Pro 3 and the Hydrasynth as well! Both are amazing instruments and really illustrate how far technology has pushed commercially popular synth designs over the years.
I love how you have a really good focus on the controls. Trust me makes it so much easier to follow and understand.
RMR it’s my first Sequential synth too! The sound just won me over and if it is truly Dave’s last mono as he has stated, we got a good one. Thanks for the post, I’m exploring now.
omg that wavetable drum sequence... I would get lost in that for DAYS - please make a BANGER track using that patch
Absolutely loved this video. I enjoyed very much the presentation style and those patches are absolutely mental. Love everything about the synth. Great job Jeremy
Such an incredible synth. Someday it will be mine :) Thanks for the review and great sounds 👍🏻
I own this synth and this is the best video I've seen so far that helped me wrap my head around it more.
just pressed play, and can't wait!!!
I think this might be my dream machine, those crazy low end sounds are what I've been looking for.
I just ordered my pro 3!!!!!
I am more excited about this synth than any I have seen in a loooong time. I am currently saving up for one. I figure one will be in my hands by February. I can’t wait.
Happy to see what you've been doing with your Pro 3! Haven't really cared about DSI synths before, but I'm legit tempted to reduce my studio to just a Pro 3, a drum machine, and a DAW.
Have been drooling over it for months. It excels at the types of sounds I love, makes patch design an easy and even performable process, and is incredibly expressive and versatile. Had been considering a Peak or Hydra, but I think this would be a better fit for me since it's so good at going between nice and nasty, and because I typically stick to stacking mono parts.
... even got as far as rearranging my studio to make room, and writing a proof-of-concept song to make sure my plan should work. It's the most recent song on my channel. Now I just need to actually get the thing.
Having both the Hydrasynth and the Pro3 I can say they complement each other suuuuuuper well.
This synth represents the pinacle of modulation possibilities on an analog mono synth. I have the mopho and evolver, they all had amazing mod possibilities but this is the next level. This synth can be almost like a modular and you can still save every setting on a preset.
I was gonna save for an ob-6, but this thing, minus the polyphony, is much more versatile, and suited for my tastes. The sound design possibilities make this the only monosynth you’ll ever need. It would make an interesting companion with my P12. Oh, and great video btw. I especially loved the percussion sequence. That was sick. Can’t wait until I can afford this monster.
I can tell you personally....the Pro 3 combined with the Prophet 12....they are the ultimate combination of synths.....I’ll sold tons of my synths but I’ll never sell my Pro 3 or Prophet 12....they are the ultimate synth combo. Beyond Perfect pair
Sold my OB6 for a Pro2. No regrets. OB6 kinda overrated.
I owned one for a minute, and had to sell for financial reason. I dearly miss it. I think it’s one of the greatest mono/paraphonic synths ever made.
i wholeheartedly agree
A magical device with a mythical price tag!
Great video, on my favourite mono of all times. Its travesty to even call it mono, with those 3 monster oscillators. I just love this synth so much, both this and Pro 2. Totally different beasts, but I find them in action almost all the time, while Subsequent 37 and Matrix Brute are collecting dust. Yes, ladder filter is not 100% moogy, but its still super awesome, If i have to choose one mono only, I would go with PRO 3.
Lots of mono's have three oscillators. It's the single filter/vca that makes it mono
@@reecedeyoung6595 I know what makes a mono synth:) I know that it has nothing to do with the number of ocillators, rather, voices per osc/filter/vca. It's just that you can tune this into chord, modulate the chord, or go paraphonic. I have Prophet 10, REV2 and OB 6 and really, I hardly need any synth on top of these 4 (well, I still use Super 6 for more crazy stuff).
Well with my back and forth obsession with acquiring the filters of choice for my setup I don’t think it takes 40+ minutes to answer the question as to why you love this synth. 24db ladder, prohpet curtis, oberhiem SEM, with audio input, and 3 note mono/poly ability, then all the rest of the features, nuff said...now hit it!
Fabulous. I had a pro 2 for a fair few years and only got rid as I felt it was a bit too much with 4 osc plus the sub. This seems a more reasonable architecture but also more capable in many ways.
Still the happiest sound I have ever heard. Thank you so much 👍❤️
Thanks for the video, ive got mine waiting for me when i get home in the next few months!
This addition to my collection was a surprise. I heard some of the first demo's from Namm, and it seemed like every sound coming out of this thing was fantastic! I placed an order for an SE and it finally arrived this week! More of a guitar player, but I think between this and my Sub37, I am set for mono synths. Thanks for the demo's. I have more money than talent, so I learn a lot from these video's. Keep up the great demos!
the last minute was bliss 😍
37:40 actually made me lose my breath for a second! I just... whoa, man. Just whoa. 🤯
Arriving tomorrow, this video has me hyped!
The three note round robin-ness of the paraphonic mode reminds me of the Korg Wavestate (or Wavestation) with its lanes cycling through notes.
maybe the next synth in my setup - i use the pro one since years - a great synth too - but the pro3 is complete different - thx for the upload ! best greetz from austria !
Rubberbutt is possibly the best named preset ever; so onomatopoeic. Good video BTW, the Pro 3 is possibly the best mono ever
At 20:00 we're ALMOST reaching Reading Rainbow levels and it's giving me good brain sauce. Thank you for synthesizing dopamine : D
♫Butterfly in the skyyyyy!♩
Thanks Man. A thousand Kudos to you. Good walk around.
Looks like the mono Evolver is back. :-) The sequencer is the most interesting part of any of the DSI/Sequential keyboards, and no one seems to get that.
i think i need to integrate this with my modular rig and have it be a wild chonky friend over there.
Cool. I really enjoyed this. It has indeed been fun for me. I hope it was fun for you. Thank you and godspeed.
28:30 on...those lovely harmonics when you open the filter...
Dang it. I need one. Great demo - thank you!
Looks pretty sweet! Nice video/demo.
I spend a day with your great overview over the hydrasynth (cause I´ve got one) and was totally overdosed, came hear just to relax a bit and felt spontaneous love for the power and the sound of SP 3....now I am in trouble :-)
That first, intro passage reminds me of the Look Around You background music, but under distortion!
my take on the knobs vs my dsi rev2, as i own both:
the rev2 knobs have a great build look and feel. they dial smooth, and are perfect for my studio when adjusting settings. the pro3 knobs are meant for jamming and grabbing and have enough resistance that you won't over dial on accident. just look at that big cutoff knob! this physical interface is meant to get physical. i might even sweat on it. i wouldn't want to sweat on my rev2, just because it looks so polished.
I just bought a Moog Matriarch. I love it. I also have a Tempest. This looks interesting, but I can't justify a trade in
That’s a great combo! If you gear fits your sound, that’s all that matters.
13:15 is there a way to change the knob setting to Catch instead of Direct, so that it doesn't abruptly jump?
this is one chonky synth
Same. The chonk is immeasurable.
Btw can jesus come over to play?

LOVE the Pro 3, it's our next synth. Hope to see you at Synthplex 2020 (cross fingers) in October. Thank you for posting this!
Awesome machine, awesome demo. Thank you very much.
Loving the freeform :) Lovely job with the runthrough.
If the body is metal and the knobs have the kind of rubberized feel of the knobs on my Nord keyboard, I'm sure the build quality is more than solid enough.
I’ve always wanted an MFB dominion but could never get my hands on one. This seems very similar and even better perhaps. I will know when it arrives in a few days.
Thanks for another good, informative and entertainig Video! Its always fun to watch your stuff, still!
I’m sold. Going to grab one right now! Just can’t decide between this or the SE version. I actually don’t care about the wood but think I’d really appreciate the articulating control panel. I feel it might encourage longer sessions if I’m more comfortable.
Great overview of a killer synth!
This was awesome. Thank you for doing what you do!
Wow , lots of mixed feelings about this synth, personally I love it. Drooled over it the minute I saw it. It's an amazing instrument, hats off to Dave and his team. Just what the doctor ordered. Many, many hours of fun and exploring, especially if you have a modular set up. Some people say it looks bad and the knobs are cheap and the sound is thin, you must need your ears checked and eyes looked at. ha! Trust me it's a killer synth. It has an amazing modulation matrix far superior to many synths and in my opinion is good value. Great vid. thanks
I do wish that you had the ability to use more than one filter at a time. Shame you cannot do that with such a beast of a synth like this one.
So the 4 CV inputs - you can essential have 2x pitch and gate combos coming in max then.... and it will round robin around those as needed? I wish eurorack interfacing was covered! If I can use this with Eurorack without needing a VCMC or similar that'd probably make me go buy one right now :) Cheers
I can see why you just told them you wanted one lol. This would be a fine first Sequential synth to me. Gotta save up for this.
Great flow in this review! Thank you!
whats not to love 🎹🖤
I now want a YEAR of just this...
Plz N Thx
The Moog Matriarch does that round robin thing with its 4 oscs and it's one of the more mindblowing things a synth can do. When you realize what's happening it's like "whoa hold on".
The Mono/Poly does this as well as the Vermona Perfourmer.
I'm curious which would be better to get? The Pro 3 can save presets. Can the Matriarch? I own the Grandmother, which I love, but no saving of presets. I love playing and creating live.
@@Lainer1 Yeah no presets on the Matriarch. It is more of an experimentation platform. Basically just an expanded Grandmother. You can save 12 sequences, but patches are all freeform.
@@wingoshack Same as my Grandmother version then.
Ok fine I’ll buy it
Good review, thank you 🙂
I will sample little bit to my PO KO because sound of this synth is dope 🤙
I keep trying not to buy this. You’re not helping.
I could not even scratch the potential it offers, but it looks and sounds so impressive.
Oh man I couldn't agree more. I have other stuff I need more but I'm pining over the Pro 3 now I've tried to not look into it because of the price. I was also looking at the Moogs but gash darn this thing is all kinds of great! BTW Synths aren't what I need more of but I just want them.
@@roryjineffect the only thing bothering me is the color scheme and knobs look like something off some early 00s blah-tier synth
@@azurebluu well, hopefully someone is so turned off by the looks that they post it for sale at half price and I can do them the favour of taking it off their hands. Because I am such a nice person.
let yourself go
Nice ! could you explain how to cross mod to get some fm stuff please ?
Sounds amazing. Unique. I like the sequences/arpeggiator evolving aspect of this synth. Add drums and you have a compete sound.
The noise on that Pro 3 sounds good. Some crunchiness in synths sound like peaking bad noise but the Pro 3 noise sounds useful musically.
Nice synth mate sounds great! I just bought the Novation Summit so im messing around with it to!
@Red Means Recording hey, so how have your feelings developed thus far in regards to the Pro 3, do you still have it and utilize it? I am mainly into Eurorack, but also have a Hydrasynth (Desktop) and a Polybrute, but just can't shake the desire to get a mono, I am stuck between the Pro 3, MatrixBrute and the Matriarch.... just can't decide despite watching countless videos and reading countless articles. Would love to hear your thoughts, cheers.
Me: "Meh, I have too many synths"
Red: 33:16
Me: "I MUST HAVE THIS"
Amazing demo 😎
wonderful ! the Goom bass is best of all
Have you considered publishing a little patch library for the pro 3? Even though I am quite happy with my results I'd be really happy to have a look into your work like the sequence you showed in the beginning
Yes I plan to next year!
oh that thing got some sweet sweet bass in it
Alright, I want one now. And it’s primarily for that feedback
I do love this and I have many reasons I want to buy it but I keep going between this and the Matriarch and the new Subharmonicon Mother 32 combo. I know they are very different but I keep wanting that sound although with the ladder filter and all the sequencing possibility this Synth seems like it might be a cheaper option. What do you think?
I vote this
I agree with you. The Matriarch is a lovely instrument. I have the Grandmother and the sounds are so lovely. The Matriarch takes that further. I would love a comparison video of these two synths. Something about that Moog Bass sounds, so deep. This is more digital and scrunchy to me, but it does have its place in music. Combined, they would be unstoppable, but I would LOVE to have comparison videos to see what each can and cannot do.
Nice video , yes the round robin and the endless modulation are what really attracted me when I first saw it. I sold my Ob-6 to buy this , it was totally the right move. I can’t see myself ever outgrowing this one.
My only wish build wise , was if they weren’t going to screen print the standard version , they gave a choice of legend. That way they could of made a cost saving move a feature.
Would love to see a "What can you do with a Pro 3?" :)
Have you considered uploading some of these patches to preset patch? I totally got what you meant by the Doom sound track stuff, that's where this synth really shines, the dirty end of things which is what I wanted from it.
The panel looks so blue in some photos and this video - but in others it looks a really nice grey. Can't work it out. Does this have a live panel mode like the OB-6 to make the sound instantly mirror the current pot settings?
I had been hoping for a while, that Seq was going to make a keyboard version of the AS-1. I love that engine and feature set, but I prefer a more complete instrument. This is that, and then some x10. Was shocked that it has a legit wavetable oscillator instead of the single cycle waves ala Prophet VS and the Evolver series. This might be the most impressive mono Dave has ever made. ALL those filter options.
philip jones23 parallel VCFs in a full analog signal path is not something that you see, almost ever. Andromeda and Chroma are the only true poly analogs with parallel filters that I can think of, while the Matrixbrute has parallel filters as a mono. So I wouldn’t consider this “strange and limited” at all. In fact, its almost ridiculous the feature set we have here. At what point do you stop? With the Matrixbrute, its a behemoth, and I have no desire to have that monstrosity in my studio. If you meed parallel filters you can go with the Matrixbrute or just use digital synths. Especially with a monosynth, I have a hard time seeing parallel filters as super useful. You can always just multitrack patches and get the same or even better layered effect provided by parallel signal path/filters.
Why does 0:00 to 1:20 remind me so much of the Portal 1 & 2 soundtrack?
vince clarke has got to be making the next yazoo record with a pro 3. right vince?
I love the sounds of the Sequential Pro 3 for a monosynth. I like the Rev2-08 as well - especially it being polyphonic. The Hydrasynth also speaks to me for obvious reasons. I haven't played any of them as I'm not able to for now. I plan to create space & ambient music for projects. Less menu diving is better for me. Polyphonic would be preferred but the 3 note paraphonic is fine too. Thoughts or suggestions regarding the Pro 3, Rev2-08 and Hydrasynth? The new Hydra releases are cool but I'll probably stick to the original key or desktop if I go that route.
Yep, nice run through. I bought one three weeks ago and I play it every day and running through all kinds of analog gear, i.e., Focusrite red six Mic pre EQ, JBL UREI compressor, BBE sonic maximizer and my favorite digital secret weapon Fractal Axe Fxii.
It gets really dirty and grungy, I love the three different filters on one unit, I almost bought an OB-6 but I’m glad I waited! Thank you for making a great demo!
You need a dsi tempest
@@ordinarypablo I'll check into it, Thanks!
wonderful in terms of routing, but doesn't it sound muffled? (sorry for the nagativity)
That is one dirty gritty sawtooth. Love it!
sweet! thanks for sharing!
Because of that videos I bought one. But still interested in the Hydra. How do they compare?
They're very different and I would argue compliment the other
I really do like how dirty it sounds. Was shocked when I heard the distorted guitar. Sounds like Robot Rock. Edit: Release the Beast.
