Thanks again Pete and Martin for doing this list here are my top Scorpions deep cuts: - "Another piece of meat" - Lovedrive - 1979 - "Evening Wind" - In Trance - 1975 - "Yellow Raven" - Virgin Killers - 1976 - "China White" - Blackout - 1982 - "Don't make no promises" (Your body can't keep) - Animal Magnetism - 1980 - "Crossfire" - Love at first sting - 1984 - "Girl I'm leaving you" - Love at first sting - 1984 - "Love on the run" - Savage Amusement - 1988 - "Hit between the eyes" - Crazy World - 1990 - "No pain no gain" - Face the Heat - 1993 again this was hard but these are my favorites
1. Drifting Sun- Fly to the Rainbow 2. Night Lights-In Trance 3. In Your Park-Virgin Killer 4. Crying Days-Virgin Killer 5. Lonesome Crow-Lonesome Crow I’m mostly a fan of their 70’s albums.
- Fly to the Rainbow (Fly to the Rainbow) - Life's Like a River (In Trance) - The Sails of Charon (Taken by Force) - Is There Anybody There? (Love Drive) - Dynamite (Blackout)
Lots of great "deep cuts" for Scorpions! -Action - jazzy with a boogie section behind 16 yr. old Michael Schenker's ripping solo! -Drifting Sun - the first real taste of Uli's "Hendrix" fixation -Evening Wind - hauntingly beautiful -Catch Your Train - still one of my favorite Uli solos! -Yellow Raven - jazzy, mellow and atmospheric then ends with that heavy classical-like section -Your Light - makes me happy every time I hear it; I've never heard a more beautiful strat sound! -Always Somewhere (does this count as a deep cut?)...probably my all time favorite Scorpions ballad -Hold Me Tight - one of Klaus' most emotive yet heavy vocal performances -Now! - tears your head off! Such a great heavy sound on Dieter Dierks' production -As Soon As the Good Times Roll - great melody from Klaus on the bridge -Love On the Run - another great rocker; awesome solo bleeds into Klaus' harmonized vocal ....plus lots more!
in no particular order: - he's a woman she's a man - alien nation - china white - don't believe her - falling in love - can't get enough - humanity - crossfire - when the smoke is going down - drive (cars cover) kinda cheatin' here but i only found out about it a year ago. it was a surprise but very well done.
- They Need A Million (amazing acoustic intro, amazing melodies from Klaus) - Longing For Fire (with the two guitar solos in this one Uli really was years ahead in terms of phrasing) - Yellow Raven (Dark and beautiful at the same time) - The Riot Of Your Time (Dark but hypnotizing stuff) - Hit Between The Eyes (This one really shows what great HEAVY songwriting is about)
1) They Need A Million (from "Fly To The Rainbow" (1974)) 2) Life's Like A River (from "In Trance" (1975)) 3) Longing For Fire (from "In Trance" (1975)) 4) Catch Your Train (from "Virgin Killer" (1976)) 5) The Riot Of Your Time (from "Taken By Force" (1977)) 6) Only A Man (from "Animal Magnetism" (1980)) 7) Animal Magnetism (from "Animal Magnetism" (1980)) 8) Woman (from "Face The Heat" (1993)) 9) Wild Child (from "Pure Instinct" (1996)) 10) The Good Die Young (from "Sting In The Tail" (2010)) Couldn't restrict myself to 5 and there are actually a lot more Scorpions songs that I love and that are pretty much unknown to anyone but die hard Scorpions fans.
Evening Wind for me (from In Trance), love that song. I also think Dark Lady needs mentioning (from In Trance). Glad you mentioned China White, excellent song. Great intro. It is slow like you said, but it's a pretty heavy riff. It would sound good live. But I can see how it would conflict with The Zoo since both are slow and heavy, although I wouldn't mind hearing both. Have to also mention Is There Anyone There and Coast to Coast from Lovedrive. Though Coast to Coast might have been on their live album, can't remember.
- Action (Lonesome Crow) - Speedys Coming (Fly To Rainbow) - Longing For Fire (In Trance) - Backstage Queen (Virgin Killer) - I've Got To Be Free (Taken By Force)
My Top 10 10. In Search of the Peace of Mind 9. They need a million 8. This is my song 7. In your park 6. Evening wind 5. Longing for Fire 4. Yellow Raven 3. Born to touch your feelings 2. The Riot of your Time 1. Drifting Sun
For me, the Uli Jon Roth Era was the best Time of the Scorpions. 👍👍👍
1. Your Light (Taken By Force, 1977) 2. Is There Anybody There? (Love Drive, 1979) 3. Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep) (Animal Magnetism, 1980) 4. Dynamite (Blackout, 1982) 5. The Same Thrill (Love at First Sting, 1984) 6. We Let It Rock...You Let It Roll (Savage Amusement, 1988) 7. Crazy World (Crazy World, 1990) 8. Hate to Be Nice (Face the Heat, 1993)

•Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep) My favourite from Scorpions, one of the very few Matthias Jabs songs. •In Your Park •Hour I •Lovedrive •Now •Crying Days •China White •I'm Leaving You •Wild Child •Arizona
What a prolific writer Martin is! I don't use this term much, but OMG. I appreciated his in-depth analysis. He was a great partner for this episode, Pete!
I don't have that many Scorpions albums, but "Love at First Sting" remains my favorite for sentimental reasons. It was my first real intro to the band. Still enjoy listening to it.
I started just after it with World Wide Live, which is full of songs from the albums just before Sting. Savage Amusement is pretty comparable too, if with an updated hair metal sound. Crazy World is a notch below that overall, and after that the albums get weak IMO.
Here's some suggestions Coast to coast - Lovedrive Don't stop at the top - Savage amusement To be with you - Crazy world Deep and dark - Unbreakable Woman - Face the heat
MARTIN, thank you for making me listen to CHINA WHITE after such a long time. :-) The song is even more relevant nowadays than it was back in the day: 'How long will it take till everybody will understand that we need to fill out hearts with love again?' Enough said!
Hard to consider anything on Love At First Sting as a 'Deep Track' however Coming Home is one of those songs I can't get enough of and try to blow my speakers with.
Deep 5 in chronological order: 1. Inheritance from Lonesome Crow 2. Far Away from Fly to the Rainbow 3. Evening Wind from In Trance 4. Yellow Raven from Virgin Killer 5. All Night Long from Tokyo Tapes
Proof that the Scorpions are great: the hits were great, and the stuff that weren't hits were great also. Nothing bad by the band from 1972 to 1990. Who else can boast such a fantastic run?
Dynamite, Arizona, China White, When The Smoke Is Going Down...that's right, side two of Blackout. Back in the day, my buddy got the lp, we listened to the whole album, never played the first side after that, didn't have to the radio played it.
1. Hey you 2. Now! 3. The Same Thrill 4. Media Overkill 5. Stone in my Shoe I figured most would pick from the early years so I went with some later choices

Bigger fan of 70's Scorpions; here's my Deep Dives Inheritance- Lonesome Crow Top of the Bill- In Trance Pictured Life- Virgin Killer Fly to the Rainbow- Fly to the Rainbow We'll Burn the Sky- Taken by Force Sails of Charon- Taken by Force Falling in Love- Animal Magnetism You give me all i Need-Blackout Lust or Love- Crazy World Every Minute,EveryDay- Savage Amusement.........
HELL YEAH Pete!! man! i'm so stoked that China White was a picked- that's my #1 deep cut but the funny thing it's always been SO popular with me and my friends here in Indiana from day one that from my point of view it's really kind of a hit. one thing is for sure-that track STILL kicks ass-love the riffs and the tone especially on the whole album, post Uli i think it's the best Scorps album by far!!!
Hi Pete and Martin. You guys selected 4 of my 5 deep tracks. I will give you 5 more. 1. Inheritance - Lonesome Crow 6. Dynamite or You Give Me All I Need - Blackout 2. Drifting Sun - Fly to the Rainbow 7. As Soon As The Good Times Roll or Crossfire - Love at First Sting 3. Catch the Train or Pictured Life - Virgin Killer Not deep Enough? 4. Coast to Coast or Can't Get Enough - Love Drive 5. Make it Real- Animal Magnetism
I remember the wait between Love at First Sting and it. And them talking about it a lot in interviews. It's like they were finishing up a masterpiece. Good album though, I like it.
Great show! Being an ardent Uli fan, I am partial to his songs and era, though that should be obvious by my screen name... My picks are: Drifting Sun Sun In My Hand Yellow Raven I've Got To Be Free China White I saw Scorpions open for Rainbow(with Riot as opener) in 1982 at Glens Falls Civic Center and they did not do China White. I think that they did Animal Magnetism and definitely The Zoo.
1. Yellow Raven 2. Lonesome Crow 3. In Your Park 4. Crying Days 5. They Need A Million 6. Animal Magnetism 7. I'm Going Mad 8. Pictured Life 9. Evening Wind 10. Night Lights and... 11. Living and Dying
5) Hit Between The Eyes ~ Crazy World 4) Love On The Run ~ Savage Amusement 3) This Is My Song ~ Fly To The Rainbow 2) Evening Wind ~ In Trance 1) The Riot Of Your Time ~ Taken By Force
The version with the cover you described of Lonesome Crow was on Heavy Metal Worldwide. My version had a woman in a jeep stuck in the sand, it was one of the German pressings on Brain records.
Scorpions- Deep Cuts Lonesome Crow- Leave Me In Trance- Evening Wind Taken by Force- Sails of Charon Lovedrive- Is There Anybody There? Love at First Sting- Crossfire Savage Amusement- Walking on the Edge Face the Heat- Unholy Alliance Unbreakable- Blood Too Hot Humanity Hour- 321 Return to Forever- When the Truth is a Lie
Can't stress enough - In Trance (1975) is almost all deep cut dive gold because it wasn't widely distributed in the USA. I recommend: In Trance, Dark Lady, Life's Like a River, Top of the Bill. Much different than Rock You Like a Hurricane, but if you call yourself a Scorpions fan, you've got to go back further and hear the Uli Jon Roth stuff as well. This album and Taken by Force are amazing.
Another Top 5 Deep Cuts Drifting Sun (Fly To The Rainbow 1974) Living And Dying (In Trance 1975) Riot Of Your Time (Taken By Force 1977) Only A Man (Animal Magnetism 1980) I'm Leaving You (Love At First Sting 1984)
Really surprised and pleasantly so to see Martin pick up Don't Stop At The Top. Totally underrated great Dieter Dierks creation, he was following Mutt Lange yes, but the song is 100% Scorpions. Rudolf and Matthias really kicking ass and Klaus great melody.
Money and Fame from Crazy World, also title track from that album. Walking on the edge from Savage Amusement, Arizona from Blackout, Coast to Coast and Is there anyone there from Lovedrive. Just off the top of my head.
A few deeper cuts from both Uli Roth and Matthias Jabs eras 1 Virgin Killer 2 The Riot of Your Time 3 Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep) 4 Only A Man 5 I'm Leaving You 6 Crossfire. 7 Chinawhite 8 Media Overkill 9 Don't Stop At The Top 10 Kicks After Six 4
You got some great ones here. I know some of their albums well, but need to dig deeper in their catalog: 1. I've Got to Be Free = 4.7/5 Has several nice features. I love the funky riff, the pace, the soloing 2 minutes in, and the catchiness of the lyrics. Seems like a bridge between their earlier "In Trance" work and the more popular stuff to come. I should listen to this whole album. 2. It All Depends = 3.5/5 Funk/Blues jamming song that I would never believe to be the Scorpions in a blind test. 3. Falling In Love = 3.6/5 Reminds me of other songs they did from the 80s, but this one doesn't grab a hold of me in the same way. Decent but unremarkable. 4. Longing For Fire = 4.5/5 This is one of my favorite Scorpions' albums. None of my friends knew about this album. This cut has a great upbeat shuffle, unique guitar solo, and harmony vocals. Great choice, Pete! 5. China White = 4.5/5 Slow thumping beat throughout but keeps your interest because it develops as it goes and has good vocals and several unique guitars riffs and solos that play against the steady beat. Good one, Martin! Apparently China White" was used as entrance music for the professional wrestling tag team The Skyscrapers in World Championship Wrestling. 6. Your Light = 4.8/5 The riffs aren't just an homage to Hendrix, they are some of the best riffing in that style I've ever heard, including Stevie Ray and Robin Trower! Love Klaus's singing - especially in the parts where he goes into a majestic higher register. 7. Don't Stop at The Top = 4.5/5 The opening lyric about the wind against your face goes perfectly with the feeling that the song gives me of riding in a car with the windows or top down. It has the sound that could have made it a successful single. It's only flaw might be its similarity to some other songs that were huge, but it's very enjoyable. My favorite part of the song is about 2:45 which leads into the solo. 8. Hold Me Tight = 4.7/5 Love the intro that mixes sounds that are almost industrial with their typical sounds. The vocals have an "animal" nature that the album title suggests but no suggesting sexual come-on like the Scorpions do sometimes; instead they have bitterness as Klaus talks about his love turning to hate and that his woman wants him out of her sight. A very different cut. 9. Blood Too Hot = 4.2/5 Great main riff. I like that the chorus is a little subdued rather than an anthemic shout that's fully upfront in the mix; just a little different touch. Around 3:20 it takes on an almost Judas Priest riff that's been slowed down with nice screaming. Almost as if they were going for a little Alice in Chains guitar sound as well. A nice departure. Love em or Leave Em has that sound as well (since that was your alternate, Martin, I'll comment on that too). That song is more commercial sounding that Blood Too Hot. 10. The Same Thrill = 4.5/5 The pace is all out burning rubber, ramps up into high gear with the drums going manic, then it puts on the brakes and you end with sounds that remind me of a Harley that's still being revved while its slowing down to a stop. It is a thrill.
You're Light is definitely my favorite deep cut and Uli Jon Roth jammed so much! It's also got some Christian leaning lyrics which does not deter my admiration at all.
And talking about lyrics, there are a couple of really good Scorpions lyrics in my opinon: We'll Burn The Sky, Crossfire, Under The Same Sun and The Good Die Young, just to name a few. And for the cheesy ones... Well, I don't listen to the Scorpions for their lyrics and a lot of lyrics by bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or AC/DC were no better. And these guys were native English speakers, unlike the Scorpions.
Interesting choices guys! Great stuff. Martin....Savage Amusement came out in '88 not '85. In '85/'86 they were still touring Love At First Sting/Worldwide Live.
My 5 deep cuts are : 1. Now ! (Blackout) 2. Lust or love (Crazy World) 3. Blood too hot (Unbreakable) 4. Love will keep us alive (Humanity Hour I) 5. No limit (Sting In The Tail)
Face The Heat album from 1993 is filled with deep cuts, such as: No Pain, No Gain, Alien Nation, Unholy Alliance, Someone To Touch, Under The Same Sun, Woman, Daddy's Girl
Twentieth Century man (One of my Favorite Scorp songs of all time) Another piece of Meat China White ( Favorite song off this album from day one) Dark Lady (except its on Tokyo Tapes)
I'm in agreement with Pete; I don't usually listen to much of their catalog after Savage Amusement - ....doesn't hold the same "magic" for me. My picks: 1. Animal Magnetism 2. As Soon As The Good Times Roll 3.We'll Burn The Sky 4. Longing For Fire 5. Crying Days.
Better to turn people onto the early catalog then the later years imo! 1. Falling in Love 2. Always Somewhere 3. The Riot of Your Time 4. Crying Days 5. Evening Wind

Though Coast to Coast might have been on their live album, can't remember.
You are a great team :-) Nice to see a good vinyl collection, too

Hey Pete, I like the new Sea of Tranquility profile picture name artwork, hope that design is what might be on the proposed t-shirt.
Hard to consider anything on Love At First Sting as a 'Deep Track' however Coming Home is one of those songs I can't get enough of and try to blow my speakers with.
I like the new logo. Cool!
The song "Far Away" from the Fly to the Rainbow album is very underrated, as is "New Generation" from the Unbreakable album.

Great episode! Don't have 5 tracks, but I really love Inheritance!
Hi Pete and Martin. You guys selected 4 of my 5 deep tracks. I will give you 5 more.
1. Inheritance - Lonesome Crow 6. Dynamite or You Give Me All I Need - Blackout
2. Drifting Sun - Fly to the Rainbow 7. As Soon As The Good Times Roll or Crossfire - Love at First Sting
3. Catch the Train or Pictured Life - Virgin Killer Not deep Enough?
4. Coast to Coast or Can't Get Enough - Love Drive
5. Make it Real- Animal Magnetism
Your Light is about Jesus Christ - Uli has commented about that before - makes me smile! One of my favorites.
Savage Amusement was 1988.
I remember the wait between Love at First Sting and it. And them talking about it a lot in interviews. It's like they were finishing up a masterpiece. Good album though, I like it.
@@bobs3302 Yes, that was when bands were putting out albums every 2 years and 4 seemed like an eternity to wait.
Great show! Being an ardent Uli fan, I am partial to his songs and era, though that should be obvious by my screen name... My picks are:
Drifting Sun
Sun In My Hand
Yellow Raven
I've Got To Be Free
China White
I saw Scorpions open for Rainbow(with Riot as opener) in 1982 at Glens Falls Civic Center and they did not do China White. I think that they did Animal Magnetism and definitely The Zoo.
1. Yellow Raven
2. Lonesome Crow
3. In Your Park
4. Crying Days
5. They Need A Million
6. Animal Magnetism
7. I'm Going Mad
8. Pictured Life
9. Evening Wind
10. Night Lights
and...
11. Living and Dying
5) Hit Between The Eyes ~ Crazy World
4) Love On The Run ~ Savage Amusement
3) This Is My Song ~ Fly To The Rainbow
2) Evening Wind ~ In Trance
1) The Riot Of Your Time ~ Taken By Force
The version with the cover you described of Lonesome Crow was on Heavy Metal Worldwide. My version had a woman in a jeep stuck in the sand, it was one of the German pressings on Brain records.
1- In Your Park
2- Living and Dying
3- They Need a Million
4- Yellow Raven
5- I'm Goin Mad
Scorpions- Deep Cuts
Lonesome Crow- Leave Me
In Trance- Evening Wind
Taken by Force- Sails of Charon
Lovedrive- Is There Anybody There?
Love at First Sting- Crossfire
Savage Amusement- Walking on the Edge
Face the Heat- Unholy Alliance
Unbreakable- Blood Too Hot
Humanity Hour- 321
Return to Forever- When the Truth is a Lie
Speedy’s Coming, Dynamite, I’m Leaving You (sorely underrated song!), Media Overkill, Crossfire, Top of the Bill.
Media Overkill and Top are f-cking great!
Another Top 5 Deep Cuts
Drifting Sun (Fly To The Rainbow 1974)
Living And Dying (In Trance 1975)
Riot Of Your Time (Taken By Force 1977)
Only A Man (Animal Magnetism 1980)
I'm Leaving You (Love At First Sting 1984)
1. Action
2. This Is My Song
3. In Trance
4. Lady Starlight
5. We'll Burn The Sky
“In Your Park” from the
Virgin Killer album = EPIC!
Hey Pete ,love the channel,do a deep cut dive on Toto or Rush
Really surprised and pleasantly so to see Martin pick up Don't Stop At The Top. Totally underrated great Dieter Dierks creation, he was following Mutt Lange yes, but the song is 100% Scorpions. Rudolf and Matthias really kicking ass and Klaus great melody.
Money and Fame from Crazy World, also title track from that album.
Walking on the edge from Savage Amusement, Arizona from Blackout, Coast to Coast and Is there anyone there from Lovedrive. Just off the top of my head.
both of you & Eddie Trunk should do a show on jeopardy with just music categories. I wouldn't miss that one.
Action.. this is my song... Sun in my hand.. yellow Raven... Suspender love
We Were Born To Fly. Animal Magnetism. Don't Stop at the Top. New Generation. Coast To Coast.
Don't Stop at the Top
Walking on the Edge
Dynamite
As Soon as the Good Times Roll
Don't Believe Her 👍
Virgin Killer is the best album artwork of all time.
salozmen29 Wasn’t it banned in recent years?
@@martyndunn6337 It was years back in the US & UK I think
A few deeper cuts from both Uli Roth and Matthias Jabs eras

I agree that 2004’s Unbreakable album is excellent! A stand out song from that album is “Through My Eyes”
In search of the peace of mind
Drifting sun
Living and dying
Crying days
Blue dream
ohh heck Drifting Sun!!!!!!!! best FTTR tune
Far Away, Yellow Raven, Riot of Your Time, Drifting Sun, Living and Dying
I'm glad that Martin chose some of the later era stuff. I think the album he was talking about was Eye II Eye.
Fly People Fly, Robot Man, Steamrock Fever, You Give Me All I Need, As Soon As The Good Times Roll
China White
Catch Your Train
Lonesome Crow
321
Alien Nation
1. Arizona
2. Robot Man
3. I've Got to Be Free
4. Falling in Love
5. Lady Starlight
Yeesss, Falling in Love, that'd be my pick, with the title track
You got some great ones here. I know some of their albums well, but need to dig deeper in their catalog:
Fly people fly . Classic

That Lonesome Crow pressing was on Heavy Metal Worldwide I believe. I think my copy was on clear vinyl.
Mine too, I think is a 1982 reissue, with the Rodney Matthews cover.
@@mutant_blues Yep, that was the one!
1. I'm Goin' Mad
2. Your Light
3. Lady Starlight
