Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G For more donation options, see: Lifeprint.com/donate Thanks! - Dr. Bill
I have a kid, and definitely have a use for "I love you, go away" :p And I already use "only 1" _all the time_ as it is endlessly useful at work, such as in the phrase "only 1 remaining".

"Never?" Hmmm... let's just go with generally don't use cutsie signs when yo uare trying to be serious. If your love for someone is "dead" and you feel the need to communicate that I recommend you just be clear and direct and sign somethiing to the effect of "I NOT LOVE YOU NOW. LOVE DISSOLVE." (excuse the caps -- they are for ASL gloss) See: ua-cam.com/video/ILhWVxV7aNQ/v-deo.html
I started learning sign language not long ago, I was wondering if it mattered which hand is used, like for the alphabet, does it matter if I use a certain hand for some, none, or all of them?
I recommend you pick a dominant hand and stick with it. See: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-layout/rightorlefthand.htm For more info, see: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/topics/ambidextrous.htm
Typically respect can be shown via effort and ceremony. The ILY sign is very low effort and is also fairly shallow in terms of commitment. The version of love that crosses the arms over the chest requires more effort and evokes a sense of deeper meaning. ua-cam.com/video/lRIRPw5EdSU/v-deo.html Language evolves based on trends and usage. If enough people do something in an unconventional way -- it eventually becomes conventional. In other words the strange is only strange until it isn't. "God be with ye" evolved into goodbye. Perhaps ILY will eventually replace the arms crossed over the chest version of love in more formal situations "someday." Time will tell -- but for now I recommend signers use the arms crossed over the chest version of "love" when conversing with Deity.

Thank you.
Thank you
Thank you
Very cute and funny video 😅loved it!!!🎉
Very good & great job 👏 😊😊
I missed the proper formal use of “Love” in prayer.
I recommend the crossed arms over the chest version of "love" when signing prayers.

@@sign-language Thank you!
I told a new terp at a get-together that ILY is "I loathe you"😅 When she was leaving, I waved ILY to her....she gave me a...look😂
(snicker)
How about this in ASL, "Jellyfish, if it beg, what-happen? Concussion~", jellyfish classifier jokes seem to be a low hanging fruit~
"My love for you is dead." this expression is meant as sarcastic? never serious statement right?
"Never?" Hmmm... let's just go with generally don't use cutsie signs when yo uare trying to be serious. If your love for someone is "dead" and you feel the need to communicate that I recommend you just be clear and direct and sign somethiing to the effect of "I NOT LOVE YOU NOW. LOVE DISSOLVE."

@@sign-language Thank you!
you might need to place the screen with more gap betwen you your body was blocking the information
Not fully, I could see it fine.
Question: Why is it not appropriate to ILY God during prayer? What instead?
Typically respect can be shown via effort and ceremony.
The ILY sign is very low effort and is also fairly shallow in terms of commitment.
The version of love that crosses the arms over the chest requires more effort and evokes a sense of deeper meaning.
