Mine came today 5/4/24 and it is absolutely incredible, The tone is amazing ... I haven't even conditioned the fretboard yet or had my tech do my usual setup and out of the box it rails! I have always been a Gibson purist and this is my first Epiphone. A big reason I bought it is that I have always wanted a triple pickup SG like Glen Buxton of the original Alice Cooper band used, but never was willing to pay the price for one as I am a Les Paul player primarily. But what sold me was the real open book Gibson headstock, which is an out of the park home run, real Custombucker pickups which alone cost $$$ and, the ebony fretboard. It did not disappoint and as I've said I haven't even taken it to my tech yet! That happens on monday. Win Win Win !!!! 🎸
Epiphone is no longer the "Cheap Gibson". They're making great guitars that I would gig with in a heartbeat.
These run $1299 so not entirely cheap but worth it considering the specs
Epiphone has always made good guitars. They are just the little brother of Gibson living in a different country. LOL I have 14 Epiphones and love all of em. I just ordered this one on back order I hope it comes soon I'm dyin over here LOL. When they came out with this IBG line they really hit the nail on the head in this economy. Who can afford THAT MUCH fora Gibson ? Gigging don't pay all that much and my Ego isn't so huge that I can't be seen with an Epiphone, John Lennon did and he was really famous. These guitars feel and sound like Gibson's and they look like them too now with the open book headstock. If I'm splitting 4 grand between 5 guy's once a week I can't be blowing it on super expensive guitars the crowd don't care about any way unless they are guitar snob's. This is a really pretty great sounding guitar no question about it, I have a 59' LP Dark burst also from this line and a LP custom in beige and gold and they are both great guitars, I know I won't be disappointed in this one either. Just can't wait to get it even Epiphone didn't have one in stock.
These r 1300 odd quid , Gibson SG Standard wi miestro r bout 1699 the now last time I checked, maybe better with the Gibson for resale value , but the spec on that Epi is impressive, I got Indonesian Epi casino worn blue Great guitar £400 .
@@taluntthis 1299$ ones are actually better than some Gibson out there and are premium guitars on their very own. Those USA Gibson custom pick ups they introduced alone are worth 500$. The upgrades to the previous Epiphone model are a premium hardshell case included, Gibson cabelage and upgraded electronics, Gibson Custom USA premium Pickups, introduction of Mother of pearl, introduction of maple on the top, introduction of Gibson iconic headstock and lastly a full binded neck in C shape. This is all add ups and upgrades to the previous Epiphone models which had already a good build.
Cheap Gibson is exactly what they are

@@stephendevine2455 I just checked and they aren't in the Epiphone section , the only one was the Joe Bonamassa and I don't want that one. I called and they haven't even made their order for them because Epiphone is more than a month behind in production. American is waiting on the last months order and if it comes in I am on that list. Epiphone didn't even have one in stock they sold out that fast.
It's unfortunate how people are knocking these for the price but these actually very very good tour/professional level guitars

I didn’t have any issues. As long as you don’t go too hard on the vibrola it should stay in tune.

Man, have your guitars properly set up so you don't have to part with them. Make sure you got a correctly cut nut for the string angles and if you got a vibrola, either get the tune-o-matic dressed/filed so the strings can move properly or just replace it with a roller bridge. Trust me, you'll be able to practically dive bomb them and it come back it tune like it's nothing. And you get to keep a sweet guitar.
Locking tuners will make a big difference. @MrDokek gave great advice, too.
@@johnnywomack548 Mine is on back order and I was wondering why they wouldn't include locking Grovers on it for the price, but they are trying to keep the cost down and Locking Grovers are expensive. Either way I am going to replace them with locking Grovers myself I already ordered them.

Did this need a set up? I bought two IbG 61 Les Paul SG’s, two have huge neck now and the last didn’t intonate properly beyond the 12 fret. Maybe I’ve had really awful luck with SG’s but damn, I want this one!
I feel like every new guitar needs a set up, but I do all my own set up work. It was pretty good out of the box. It belongs to a friend though I was only checking it out.

In all honesty I did not buy one. I was checking out one that belongs to a friend. Overall it is really good for the money. I do wish it was a gloss finish rather than a matte white. But overall it is a lot of guitar for the$.

Nope. It is pretty balanced.
All SG's are going to have a degree of neck dive, I use a locking strap and don't sling it too low and I have no issues with the neck. you just have to be aware of what guitar you are playing.
So how much does the middle pickup get in the way? 😂

It feels a lot like a Gibson SG standard.

It’s still an epiphone……cheap hardware, electronics, etc……revisit it in a couple of years
Actually they put Gibson Custombuckers, CTS pots, and switchcraft switches in these.
Yep Pete is right, all the hardware is Gibson , CTS pots ,Switchcraft switch etc.
Epiphone was restored back to high end guitars back in 2019/2020 by JC Curliegh I have three 2021 High end Epiphones and wouldn't have it any other way...
