Strange habit I have: whenever I see a woman out walking alone I automatically note what she looks like/is wearing/direction she is headed/time just in case she goes missing. I blame true crime
Same! Also kids! I live right next to a middle school and high school, the same high school and middle school I went to & and so many kids walk home and I don’t trust anyone. My kids are only toddlers so they are always with me but I teach them stranger danger all the time it’s so scary, especially with how many creepy people are in this world.
Scary story- Coming home from the pub, with my desi driver who collected me, a girl wearing next to nothing stumbled on the road, we just missed hitting her with the car.. we pulled in front of her after swerving to see of she was okay, but she just opened the side door, got in, and passed out. I went though her bag to find her ID, we dropped her home, carried her to her door. We could've been anyone. Since then I have been so scared for women out drinking at bars/clubs/pubs.
I feel like the ring was a clue to her siblings that she was forcibly taken. She left it there for them to find so they knew her abandoning the car wasn't part of her trip.
Its so incredibly sad. I cannot imagine going through everything Leah went through. I'd probably have dropped out of college for some soul searching as well.
I can’t help but think of that Sylvia Plath quote: “Yes, my consuming desire is to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, barroom regulars-to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording-all this is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always supposedly in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yes, God, I want to talk to everybody as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night...”
A man is in danger too when he is somewhere by himself. But woman IS always a target even in a group of people. Women, you should always remember about this!
I hope we will live in a world that Mile Higher can cover endless "recovered people and solved cases brought to justice" true crime content. This poor girl.
You didn't need a passport to enter Canada til 2008. All you needed was a drivers license. So the theory is possible she could have crossed the border.
Not only that, but our border is open most of the country. If she had tried to cross in a wooded area it would not have been that difficult. I can literally walk through the woods, cross a small river, and be in the USA, from where I live. (Not that I would because well, fuck that, y’all’s county is messed up)
People need to stop traveling alone, or at least don't tell people you run into that ur completely alone, makes you the most vulnerable person in the world.
I agree . I think you have to be especially safe nowadays. I love Mike Higher and I am hoping that Kendall will cover missing and weird circumstances surrounding some real estate agents. It seems to be more of a dangerous job every year.
Personal opinion: If I wanted to leave everything behind, completely reinvent myself and start completely new, I would leave the ring behind too. If she was on this journey she probably also realized she doesn't need the ring to keep her mom with her but selected to not be reminded as soon as she looks at her hand. And putting it under the floor mat reminds me of a friend who left her valuables under her floor mat when she parked her car so that random people looking into the car don't see it. People would rather look through the glove box than under floor mats.
I would absolutely leave that ring behind if I was going to be leaving forever. But I dont think she would have done this. Saying she did is basically saying she dangled her family with hopeful carrots of her ever coming back. Leaving them tortured forever. Also leaving my family by choice and not telling them at all, just seems so impossible to me after the losses they had.
She was traveling a road or hwy that is mostly log trucks and what not. What if she broke down? Did anyone check the gas tank? How much gad did she have? Someone could have stopped and perceived her vulnerable and bam. Done taken away from the area after ditching her car. If someone stopped and I realized I was alone and vulnerable, I'd hide my precious ring to while they popped the hood to "help" . Terrifying.
And says... Cat: Where are you going? Alice: Which way should I go? Cat: That depends on where you are going. Alice: I don’t know. Cat: Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.
So basically she said "bye everyone I don't give a crap how much you will worry about me or that you'll almost definitely call the cops and report me missing, I'm gonna be selfish and be a super ultra mega free spirit cliche now"
The ring thing reminded me of when a family member of mine was held up at gun point. She threw her engagement ring on the floor when the robber was distracted, then after the robbery she looked for it and got it back. I’m thinking it might’ve been a similar situation, she might’ve thrown the engagement ring to the car floor to avoid it being stolen
This case is creeping me out. I was 26, living in Bellingham, when this happened. I never heard a peep about it. I was living a very similar lifestyle to Leah at that time. Right down to traveling cross country with my cat. One thing to note, in 2000, you did not need a passport to enter Canada. I went to Vancouver many times while I lived there. You only needed a license. However, apparently that was also left in the car.
That mummified body HAS to have been Leah. The rod in her leg being traced to a shipment made at the same time she was injured... it's too coincidental. And I fully agree that maybe she was intersex with or without her knowledge or maybe the lab simply misgendered the body. There are so many questions I want answers to!!
I have thought about this girl for years; we were in that Red Robin earlier that day, after a dance competition in Bellingham,,and after hearing what had happened, I found it impossible to forget about her. Thank you for all of the excellent information, we had heard plenty about her just prior to her disappearance but had never heard anything about her life growing up or even what kind of a person she is. Bless you guys both for bringing such huge awareness to this case!
It’s so sad to me that we, especially as women, have this huge fear of doing anything alone. Do you feel like we’re less safe now? Or did people just not realize how unsafe it was back in the 60s, 70s, etc?
honestly i think there was probably even more assault or equal to now back in 60s/70s/80s but women didnt report it enough which is completely understandable… :/
I believe we just didn’t hear about it… in those days everything was reported by newspapers… news didn’t travel! I’m sure it’s increased just as the population has increased. I think about this all the time
If she disappeared on her own accord, maybe she took the engagement ring off because she wanted to start fresh, with everything she had been thru maybe she just wanted a completely fresh start and the reason she put the ring under the floor mat is because she knew that eventually they would find the car and contact her siblings. She did take the time to hide it from plain view so they wouldn’t take it but who knows, this is just what I think. I hope that she’s really out there somewhere living her best life and that she has found her purpose in life.
Wouldn't she have just left it with the note if she wanted her siblings to find it? Unless she changed her mind after she left and decided not to come back after all. But then again I think if she just wanted a fresh start and made a point to tell her siblings she's not suicidal so they wouldn't worry if she saw all of the media coverage about her disappearance and the turmoil she was putting her family through she would have found a way to contact them and tell them she was ok. I think the most likely scenario is she probably thought/ she was afraid that where she was or where she was going someone might try to mug her and she was afraid they'd take the ring and she'd lose it forever so she hid it somewhere she assumed no one would look intending to go back to the car at some point.
27:15 Kendall: Maybe it wasn't inspired by the Cheshire cat, but her own cat. Josh: her cat smiles like that??? 👀 Lmaooo idk why that cracked me up 💀💀💀😭😭😭
The body found near her car, with a metal rod in the right femur with a manufacturer date of the same time of her car accident, AND the fact that testing for gender isn't perfected, tells me that that is the body of Leah.
@@myahollandia3552 Didn’t they say that testing for gender was not perfected? I was kind of surprised to hear that. Unless maybe there are only a few pieces of bone. 🤷♀️
You guys are the hardest working couple on UA-cam! I didn’t realize how many different channels you have. I just subscribed to all of them! You guys are amazing!!
I wonder if she left the engagement ring as a clue. If her family knew she would never take it off, it would let them know that she was in danger or didn’t leave on her own accord. Sort of a way to hint that someone possibly took her or forced her to get out of the car at some point
This case reminds me of the Jamison family. All three mysterious disappeared. Their car was found, with $30k, their dog, and cellphone. I hope you guys cover this case one day. It's so baffling. Do these people disappear because they want to or because there was foul play?
But the fact that the ring--more important to her than money, which might have been spotted and stolen--was put under the mat makes me think it was so it would be returned to her sisters upon discovery by the police.
First theory, I think she told the wrong person she was traveling alone. Unfortunately she sounded a little naïve in that sense, which is not uncommon for someone in their early 20's. Maybe they broke into her car while she was sleeping then tampered with the vehicle after kidnapping her. She may have begged to take her kitten with or it was eaten by a wild animal. I think the ring under the mat was for safety reasons while she slept. If Canadian dude did it, with his background it's possible he was trained in the military and knows how to trick the polygraph. In this theory, I do think he did it and maybe not alone either. Body found sounds like it's her. Have they contacted the hospital that did the surgery? They surly would have the brands/makes of their materials? Second theory, she joined a very large sophisticated cult. One that knows how to make you "disappear". The way she left was not normal. Why not tell someone about your trip? Why did she play like everything was normal and set up a babysitting job just to disappear? Her behavior and not was of someone hiding something.
Now every time I'm on the road and see someone alone on the street, whether they're at the bus stop or running, I pray they make it home safely 🙈🙏🏼 even so more with my girls when they leave for school I just pray God protects them always ❤️
The fact that the engine was tampered with and no evidence of her and her cat etc... doesn't that nearly prove it wasn't just a wreck she wandered off from? Someone must have altered it for a reason. I don't buy that she just wandered away with amnesia. She was very recognizable with the short hair, and if she was wandering around like that she'd have drawn a ton of attention. That note makes it seem like she almost intended to restart her life. Like "hey I didn't kill myself despite it looking that way". Btw as someone who lives near the Canada/America border, it's extremelyyyyy easy to cross the border undetected. Truly a mystery. The guy who just happened to be a mechanic is a little too coincidental for me. The fingerprint under the hood could've been from an officer or someone who checked her oil or some sort of maintenance prior. To me it doesn't really clear that guy. I can't get over him never coming back, being in a diffrent country, being a mechanic. It's just too convenient.
Yes! I love looking at the past episodes and also noticing how much different he is now vs the beginning. His voice is so much more comfortable now, no mow shaky inhales, and much more humor. I love Kendall and Josh so much and Josh’s voice is so comforting. Which is why I also fall asleep to Planet Sleep every single night from the very beginning 🙂
Kendall: “She didn’t draw the eyes or anything…” Me, having a revelation: “OH MY GOSH. The cat is DISAPPEARING in the drawing. She’s telling her family that SHE IS DISAPPEARING.” 🤯
You are so on point! She used the Cheshire Cat very cleverly! He was disappearing and reappearing throughout that movie and he is known as a trickster. I think she used the drawing as a clue she was going away on her own initially just not sure what happened that she may not have planned for. Something seems SKETCHY!
@@cerealrakist7360 I hope so for her safety’s sake….at the same time, that would be really cruel of her to make her family think she crashed and either wandered off or got taken.
i really don't think so, I kind of think she was trafficked or held hostage and she left the ring on purpose to let everyone know she was there and in danger. I think it was a decision she had to make because she knew that she was never going to see them again.
Im 33 now, but when i was 16-22, I hitchhiked around the country solo. I had 2 suitcases, one of clothes and one filled with books. I have to count my blessings, as I made it out alive. I had a couple close calls, but I survived. Btw, the thought of hitchhiking now gives me SERIOUS chills!!
The ring has been bothering me. Do you think since she was known to never take it off maybe she removed it and stashed it so people would know someone had her?
I’m just recovering from a surgery and couldn’t have any visitors so popped this on for some familiar voices and it calmed me down massively so thanks guys! 🙌
I’m literally Kendal, I can never be alone. I have to have something playing in the background, whether I’m cleaning, painting or doing homework I have to have something playing in the background.
this is my motivation for my workouts: I only allow myself the pleasure of listening to these two if I workout while doing it. Keeps me actually looking forward to torturing myself in this heat
That Cheshire cat smile is OFTEN paired with his quote "We're all mad here" Or sometimes (not nearly as often as the first one) "Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality"
I like when the Cheshire Cat in the Disney version says “you may have noticed that I’m not all there myself!” That’s the part where he disappears except for his smile.
This is the first Mile High podcast I've watched and I absolutely LOVED it!!! It is such a relief to invest time and energy into content where there is no bickering and drama. I have been watching The Sesh and enjoy that one for the same reason! I love true crime and will definitely continue watching this podcast.
The ring would have been placed under the floor mat after the wreck because if it was placed there before the wreck it would have been thrown all around with the vehicle rolling over.
Leah’s case has always stuck with me. I can’t help but think that what happened to Leah and her kitten happened somewhere other than the car dump site. I hope that one day Leah’s family and love ones receive the answers, closure, and justice that they deserve.
A lot of the details of this case really do remind me of Into the Wild's Chris McCandless, from the inspiration to disappear into the wilderness based on their favorite books and authors, to the abandon and wrecked vehicles. If Chris hadn't eventually been found with his journal that meticulously documented his movements and eventual death, I think he would have left a similar mystery. Very much hoping Leah didn't meet a similar fate.
i truly do believe she’s dead. i went over the ring theory’s and i feel like if she was still alive she would at least reach out to her family to let them know she is ok
she knows the grief her family went though after both her parents died and i don’t think she want them to go through that again idk very sad care regardless
I can confirm that my partner and I run at different body temps too!! My boyfriend is always ice cold and I’m always MELTING. Every year when fall comes along we debate on how late into the season I can leave the windows open 😂
I think she had to of quickly hid the ring once she knew the person she was with (whoever that was) was going to hurt her, maybe a way to save it for her family because of its importance. Then the crash was staged
Kinda makes me think of Chris McCandless, from the Into The Wild movie. He left all his possessions behind, ditched his car and burned his money to go live off the land in Alaska. He ends up finding an abandoned school bus and living/dying in it. Such a sad story, so much tragedy in this family. Handled with grace as always by K & J!
I don't understand why someone would go through the extra effort to wreck the jeep.. such a huge risk of getting spotted / imprinting DNA/ making extra noise ( crashes are loud ) . Weird case for sure
Really feels like it's a fabricated crime scene to distract. First it looks like a regular crash and then all this stuff to be puzzled by wasting valuable time that should be spent looking for Leah wherever she actually was, which was clearly not where her car was to some degree.
@@xSwordLilyx could be. Just don't feel right to me. Also the mechanical tampering with the accelerator doesn't fit either . I wouldn't trust a detectives word on what they think they see under the hood of a jeep . If you don't understand how throttle bodies work then you could think it's been tampered with.. it could have just been rigged to actually function. As a mechanic I've seen this several times . If you advance the throttle to run wide open it still has to be put in gear and steered toward the cliff.. without a tie on the steering system they again would be rolling the dice on if it would crash off the cliff or crash into the mountain side . Makes no sense to do that much work when you already have the victim. Just an opinion. Have a great day friends!
There's too much evidence that there's foul play going on - she left an ominous note and cash for a months worth of rent and hinted at the fact that she would be back, she kept everything that showed her journey to that point, her car somehow ended up run off the road, her kitten is randomly gone (if she was going to take the kitten with her after staging the scene, why would she not take the carrier too?), as well as her car being tampered with. I feel like it's too weird that her ring was hidden underneath the floor mat as well. Like the ring wouldn't fall off her finger during the accident and then somehow roll under the floor mat. It leads me to believe that she was hiding it from whoever was after her. She didn't care about the rest of her expensive possessions because she wasn't that kind of person, but the ring was too important to her for the person to take from her so she hid it. Maybe she thought she was only being sought after to be robbed and was unfortunately very very wrong. I also feel like the kitten was left behind to fend for itself and maybe other animals in the area got to it before it was found, as horrible as it is to say that 😔 I just don't think they would have given her the opportunity to take the kitten with her if it was foul play and if it was on her own accord, I don't see why she would leave the carrier behind. It's too hard to have a domesticated kitten with you and not have something to carry it in, especially if that's what she usually does.
Thank you for getting me through this pandemic! And thank you for exposing me to a community of like minded people it's been amazing. You guys do such a great job congratulations
A passport wasn't required to cross the Canadian border until 2007. So she could be up there. I live in Oregon and used to travel up there alot as a child.
im from Everett Washington and I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this case…Bellingham and Everett are both known for being pretty sketchy places with questionable people..I wouldn’t doubt at all that someone did something to her.
Yes!!! I'm from the area too, Bellingham is so close to the Canadian border and Everett is so sketchy, it has only gotten worse over time! Both are such transient towns in general.
It’s too coincidental that remains were found within the area that contained a metal rod from the same shipment that would have circulated within the same time frame as her initial accident.
@@thevideoshop7823 How so? Most people believe after they die they'll live for eternity in the kingdom of heaven. I don't. But it wouldn't be crazy to assume she may have.
So, I put this podcast on to just have something I can listen to so that I don't have to listen to my own thoughts. if im out alone and a guy is really creeping me out I always send a detailed description of him to someone just in case. I know it's paranoid but no one thinks they'll be a victim.
It's really sad how much this case shows how different the male vs. female experience is in our society. Her favorite male author traveled long distances alone without encountering foul play while she just began her trip and was almost immediately targeted by a male perpetrator.

Leah's case is one of those cases that I really wish I knew the answer too. My fiance grew up in Raleigh and my future sister in law was the same age as Leah and also went to NC State at the same time so its so crazy to think about where Leah could be with her life if she hadn't disappeared.
Man this story hits close to home... I have gone solo traveling as a young woman trying to find myself for months on the road and it's such an amazing experience but there's always a bit of fear of being alone and a woman... these days obviously with phones and such it's easier but still... there are people out there who take advantage and it makes it scarier to make the decision to go. I hope Leah's soul is in peace

Wow. I’m from Durham and now live in Raleigh, and I have never even heard of this case. Completely insane. Hoping she gets justice and her family gets answers.
Well obviously she didn’t leave on her own accord. She put the ring under the mat for 2 reasons. A) she didn’t want the person she was with to take it and maybe she could come back later and get it B) She knew this would alarm her family. She new everything was weird and she didn’t do her best to keep in touch and then found herself in a bad spot. She and her cat never went down the hill with the truck but obviously the initial encounter with whomever occurred in the truck hence the hidden ring. The money was left because whomever took her wanted her and had her exit the vehicle and she didn’t volunteer where her stash was…
My parents recently went to Hawaii and went on a little boat ride with a crew of 3 people and 2 of them were married and had come on vacation two years earlier and just never went back home and started working on boats in Hawaii
Never went back to get anything?? Did they own a home, did they just let it go into foreclosure, kids, pictures, sentimental items? I have so many questions!!! I could never. I'm all for moving and starting over, but I can't leave my stuff. Some things can't be replaced.
I am also from North Carolina. She reminds me of myself. I live in a van. I am traveling through Oregon. I’m always searching for the true meaning of life . Always trying to live in the moment. But life is hard
Trying to live in the moment is just another way of escaping the reality of life. Life is hard, and as humans it is our nature to dwell in the past and look to the future.
How can police have “zero evidence of foul play” if they have a fingerprint that’s not hers under the hood and also male DNA on her clothing? I’m so confused about that.
Both of you are so genuine and really compliment each other's personalities! I love all your shows and truly appreciate all the time you guys put into doing this podcast as well as the two others. I’m so disturbed about this kitten not being in the vehicle with her. I hope her and the kitten weren’t in there. Makes me so sad. I can’t handle it. 😩😭
RING THEORY: she willingly placed the ring under the mat as a way to show her family that something was wrong. it was in the passenger seat so it could make sense if she was kidnapped.
I’m watching this on Leah’s birthday and my birthday is the same as her sister. I also have a metal rod in my right leg. Cool coincidences. Love the content y’all share ❤️
they briefly mentioned articles of clothing found hanging in trees near the crash site, did they ever find out if they were leahs and how they got in the trees? This whole case is just so confusing to me
I just started listening to this podcast. I’m so happy I found it! I love your voices and you guys are just so sweet together. I’m glad you found each other 🖤
This is one of the cases that has me tripped up. Like I really can't make up my mind about what I think happened to Leah. Reminds me a lot of Jason Landry as well.
To me it seems, like somebody rigged the car to have an accident and followed her. Once her car wrecked, they "swooped" in to help her and said something like "hurry get in my car, I'll bring you to the hospital" and that's why she left her stuff behind. But that's also why the kitten was taken, she wouldn't have left it behind in a hot broken car, so she took it with her. She was then kidnapped, and then whatever this person had planned they then did it.
I very recently watched one of your older podcast episodes. I must say, you both have grown tremendously. The amount of preparation, the transition from one fact to another, the professionalism! Not saying it wasn’t good back then 😂 it was very impressive. But personally, I can see so much growth in this podcast
I find - The scariest missing persons cases are the ones where a person leaves (mysteriously) of their own will for a purpose, but likely meets foul play.. so tragic and just such a terrible coincidence! I think this case is like that...
Yesssssss, to the temp!!! My husband is ALWAYS cold and I’m hot. I’d run the AC all year if he didn’t complain! If you’re cold, get a blanket. It’s hard to cool down when you’re hot, easier to warm up.
The dude that lives in Canada, who said he was visiting his two sons who live in Bellingham.. maybe they should reach out to his sons and get their DNA. The fingerprint wasn’t an exact match to their dad, however, it could be one of his sons.
I always look forward to your podcast. You two have the best podcast on UA-cam. A case that would be interesting for a future episode is the Maleah Davis case from Houston, there is alot to unpack in that case.
I'm a Canadian and I remember that back in the early 2000's you actually didn't need a passport to cross back and forth between the Canadian/US boarder. You only needed valid ID, such as a driver's license. Just thought I would mention as it IS possible that individuals could cross into Canada without a passport at that time. I remember going into the states myself to go shopping with just my picture ID
If she was abducted, how would she have been able to take off the ring and hide it? Aren’t abductions normally too quick for someone to take the time to hide something? Unless she saw the person coming before she was taken if that is what happened. I truly hope that whatever happened, her family gets closure someday. 💔

I prefer to travel alone, but I also avoid interaction with strangers at all cost. 😂
I agree . I think you have to be especially safe nowadays. I love Mike Higher and I am hoping that Kendall will cover missing and weird circumstances surrounding some real estate agents. It seems to be more of a dangerous job every year.
It's so innocent.. and people should be safe to do these things.. but unfortunately there are creeps amd predators out there.. :(
Personal opinion:
If I wanted to leave everything behind, completely reinvent myself and start completely new, I would leave the ring behind too.
Yes and she probably wanted her sister to have the ring, knowing that they would look for it
That’s what I thought too. Good theory!
Terrifying.

That’s where he says “you may have noticed that I’m not all there myself!”
I agree

She had short hair and seemed masculine in some pics so you never know.
Why wouldn't they simply test the DNA against her siblings? Surely that would be the easiest way to identify. :/
@@cerealrakist7360 Coroners don't identify bodies by hair length my dude

@@afallingstarfell agreed
I think we are less safe these days
I believe we just didn’t hear about it… in those days everything was reported by newspapers… news didn’t travel! I’m sure it’s increased just as the population has increased. I think about this all the time
@@maryhayes3177 Not at all. The Great Crime Decline that began in the 90s is still with us, despite an uptick in violence during the pandemic.
Yes I believe if someone forced her to take off her ring, they would have kept it, not hid it under a floor mat. Imo
If that were the case, it means she tampered with the engine herself, and I don't believe she would know how.
27:15
Kendall: Maybe it wasn't inspired by the Cheshire cat, but her own cat.
Josh: her cat smiles like that??? 👀
Lmaooo idk why that cracked me up 💀💀💀😭😭😭
That's so creepy the grin of the Cheshire cat 😸
The body found near her car, with a metal rod in the right femur with a manufacturer date of the same time of her car accident, AND the fact that testing for gender isn't perfected, tells me that that is the body of Leah.
The body was a male
@@myahollandia3552 Didn’t they say that testing for gender was not perfected? I was kind of surprised to hear that. Unless maybe there are only a few pieces of bone. 🤷♀️
I agree. It’s gotta be her
And could they not trace the serial number on the rod to the specific patient? Or did hospitals not keep a record of that stuff back then?
The pelvic bones would determine the gender, that can’t be changed. Such a sad case.
You guys are the hardest working couple on UA-cam! I didn’t realize how many different channels you have. I just subscribed to all of them! You guys are amazing!!
I love them too
I wonder if she left the engagement ring as a clue. If her family knew she would never take it off, it would let them know that she was in danger or didn’t leave on her own accord. Sort of a way to hint that someone possibly took her or forced her to get out of the car at some point
That is exactly what I thought too. Well said!
Kendall in Taurus: I'm over here in a blanket.
This case reminds me of the Jamison family. All three mysterious disappeared. Their car was found, with $30k, their dog, and cellphone. I hope you guys cover this case one day. It's so baffling. Do these people disappear because they want to or because there was foul play?
I think about that case all the time!! Such a weird one
Aliens
@@Ipleadthefifth Anything is possible 👽
Both...but unless they have something the hide....such as they are pedophiles or hiding from the government...it is likely foul play.
The Jamison family was found
But the fact that the ring--more important to her than money, which might have been spotted and stolen--was put under the mat makes me think it was so it would be returned to her sisters upon discovery by the police.
That’s what I was thinking!
I really believe that she is in some creeps basement somewhere.. why go the trouble to cause the fake accident..

You are so on point! She used the Cheshire Cat very cleverly! He was disappearing and reappearing throughout that movie and he is known as a trickster. @@cerealrakist7360 I hope so for her safety’s sake….at the same time, that would be really cruel of her to make her family think she crashed and either wandered off or got taken.

That Cheshire cat smile is OFTEN paired with his quote "We're all mad here"
Or sometimes (not nearly as often as the first one)
"Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality"
I like when the Cheshire Cat in the Disney version says “you may have noticed that I’m not all there myself!” That’s the part where he disappears except for his smile.
I thought the same thing!
"We're all mad here" is the first quote I thought of when it was mentioned

I have been watching The Sesh and enjoy that one for the same reason! I love true crime and will definitely continue watching this podcast.
The ring is what makes me believe she was abducted. She slid the ring off her finger and hid it so her family would know she didn’t leave willingly.

I think the body found was her. There’s no way a body found where she went missing WITH her right femur plate would not be her.
It was a male
I think she had to of quickly hid the ring once she knew the person she was with (whoever that was) was going to hurt her, maybe a way to save it for her family because of its importance. Then the crash was staged
Kinda makes me think of Chris McCandless, from the Into The Wild movie. He left all his possessions behind, ditched his car and burned his money to go live off the land in Alaska. He ends up finding an abandoned school bus and living/dying in it.
Such a sad story, so much tragedy in this family. Handled with grace as always by K & J!
@@Lizzie-h3j obviously he has...
I don't understand why someone would go through the extra effort to wreck the jeep.. such a huge risk of getting spotted / imprinting DNA/ making extra noise ( crashes are loud ) . Weird case for sure
Her clothes were tied to a tree where the car left the road if thats any help
Perfect timing 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

This is one of the cases that has me tripped up. Like I really can't make up my mind about what I think happened to Leah. Reminds me a lot of Jason Landry as well.
Same. I think it can go either way, a planed and staged accident or she was a victim of a murder.
Same!
What if she hid the ring to signal to her loved ones that she was taken and it wasn’t an accident? They would know she’d never leave that.

The dude that lives in Canada, who said he was visiting his two sons who live in Bellingham.. maybe they should reach out to his sons and get their DNA. The fingerprint wasn’t an exact match to their dad, however, it could be one of his sons.
39:00 thats a good point, thank you for unpacking that moment and putting clips from the police officers I love their work.
I always look forward to your podcast. You two have the best podcast on UA-cam. A case that would be interesting for a future episode is the Maleah Davis case from Houston, there is alot to unpack in that case.
As someone from Bellingham and living off mt Baker hwy it’s very cool you covered this story!
Just put my baby down for a nap, ITS MOMMY TIME 🥰

I'm a Canadian and I remember that back in the early 2000's you actually didn't need a passport to cross back and forth between the Canadian/US boarder. You only needed valid ID, such as a driver's license. Just thought I would mention as it IS possible that individuals could cross into Canada without a passport at that time. I remember going into the states myself to go shopping with just my picture ID
me, 38, laughing at y'all speculating that $20 couldn't fill a jeep in 2000. INFLATION HAS F'ED US ALL SO HARD
If she was abducted, how would she have been able to take off the ring and hide it? Aren’t abductions normally too quick for someone to take the time to hide something? Unless she saw the person coming before she was taken if that is what happened. I truly hope that whatever happened, her family gets closure someday. 💔
