With only the carrier and two plates (front and back) it comes out to 19 lbs. Having never worn it for more than 30 min or so, I can’t speak to the comfort level for an extended period of time. If I were to kit it out, include full mags, side plates, etc I imagine I could get it close to 30 lbs. Now that’d be a solid workout!
Nice man thanks for sharing with us. The plate carrier looks comfortable, and was that a package deal because you got alot of good stuff there. Awesome stuff man!
It is actually very comfortable. AR500 seems to always be doing a sale of some sort so you can get quite a bit for a decent price. Thanks for watching my video and commenting!
It is from Armored Republic (previously known as AR500) it is what they refer to as their Testudo Gen2 Carrier, which is a part of their Basic Loadout. I’d definitely recommend adding the Build-Up Fraglock coating to the armor as steel is very prone to fragmentation.
If u buy that, u are wasting your money. I can tell u what to get that will cost u about the same money but will be way better for u. Go to Botach Tactical and buy 2 level 4 ceramic/poly plates for $200 and then go buy the Ferro Concepts Slickster plate carrier for about $160. This is a minalist set up and extremely light weight and comfortable and will cost u about $360 total. Don't dare buy steel u will regret it.
@@armon8399 I totally get it. I’ve been there a few times on other products where I wish I would’ve waited and purchased something better instead of getting what I thought was a good deal in the moment. In this case specifically, I plan on doing some more testing with these steel plates in the future so that I can help people make informed decisions about armor when deciding what to get. So please don’t hesitate to comment on my videos, I don’t mind, I actually welcome it!
Dude, im 65 with arthritis if I can haul 10×12 steel front and back with 2 side plates, anti spalling sleeve and trauma pads up and down steps and wear my rig for an hour at a time you can do it, don't be a soy boy ! A Veteran.
Thank you for the encouragement Jose and thank you for your service! I wore around the two plates I have currently at the range and my concerns about weight were definitely wiped away. Thanks for watching my video!!
Although steel has its drawbacks, it’s better than what I had before…which was nothing! I’d like to get some level 4 plates in the future. Do you have any recommendations?
These guys are 100% correct. The steel plates are completely useless. And the plate carrier is huge. Theres no way u are shouldering the rifle properly with that huge carrier. SAPI plates are inexpensive these days. U can pick up a budget set of level 4 SAPI plates from BOTACH for about $100 a plate. Get yourself a minimalist plate carrier to go with them like the Slickster or the MEPC. For the money u guys spent on that set up, u could have gotten a really good set up. This isn't a knock on u, I've been there and done that. After a while I learned from it and got rid of my set up like yours. I'm soooooooo glad I did too
@@richf2834 cuz there is absolutely no reason anyone should buy steel these days with how much SAPI plates have come down in price. The only ppl that wear set ups like that are newbies. No offense, I was there at one point but it's the honest to God's truth. U will never catch an experienced shooter wearing steel or a hugeeeeeeee plate carrier like that
Hate to be the wet blanket here but you should've waited and save a bit more for better alternatives. It's your life that is at stake here. Now buyer's remorse will be on your way, grasshoppa! The bright side is you can post some videos on youTube blasting those plates and monetized it. 🙂
Thanks for the comment Marc, no need to worry about being the wet blanket! I’ll definitely be testing out the plates at some point to see what they can take and what kind of spalling comes off of them when hit. On top of that. I was given them by a friend so I didn’t even have to pay for them. Hopefully my friend isn’t too mad when I shoot the plates haha.
@@RabiesTheBeagle I'll give a cheap solution. Budget level 4 SAPI plates from Botach Tactical. $100 a plate. There is absolutely zero oooooooooo reason to buy steel plates these days unless u just don't know any better
Gonna wish you had got the multi-curve option...flat plates are just horrendous to wear.
Congrats! Can you comment on the sheer weight of that thing? Its got to be at least 20 lb net. Is it comfy to wear for 8 hours at a time? Thanks!

You want the best get level 4 plates and wait forever to ship. People need armor now and AR500 ships out quicker than level 4 gov red tape.

Great video thanks for the review
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
How long did shipping take?
Great question, if I remember correctly, it took about a week or so for processing and then a few days for it to arrive after being shipped.
How much was it ?
I'm not sure how much it was, but now it looks like it's in the 4 hundred range for the Testudo bogo which comes with 4 plates and 2 carriers.
Congratulations you played yourself
