- I have a simplified approach when it comes to Design Magic in the hopscutter workflow. In this video lets dive into what to expect with Design Magic and how to get the most out of it in #hardops / #boxcutter.

Thanks for this! A couple thoughts. Use the METASHAPE visibility button to toggle OFF METASHAPE when setting up your post bools. Then turn it back on when you're ready to convert to mesh for final.
Also, METASHAPE is probably best used for more organic forms that can't be created using bevels.
ah yes. I knew youd explain it better.
does metashape do something special or can I achieve this via adding remesh and smooth through hardops?
@@neeleshchevuri6268 the market page goes over the product more in depth than this video.
www.blendermarket.com/products/design-magic
@@neeleshchevuri6268 it doesnt. Its just a fancy (and actually confusing) naming. Its just add 2 modifiers and thats all.
@@sounddifferent3752 hah, I get it now. I thought it was a different algorithm or something.
I wish you to create a course on design principles. Learning how to use tools/modeling is one thing, but making good designs (like in your videos) is another story...
i try to sprinkle it into the longer content. Once the battle of understanding is complete I can go back to talking about fun stuff.
MX, would be great if you could point us to an in-depth video on the use of the various modifiers like weld/bevel etc and when where to place them in the modifier stack for the modeling process. Seems like these methods are highly necessary for a good modeling workflow. Seems a little wacky knowing just when and where to manipulate those modifiers. TIA

its based on personal needs and context. You learn it through experience! Even if i told you my rules you'd break em in attempts to prove me wrong.

@@masterxeon1001 Thanks for that link - it should help immensely!
This video pushed me to buy it.
Can't wait to use this mod.
its a fun time for sure. Check out chipps content for more on how to get the most out of it!
new DM user. great vid mx2! dig your U/I with the Orange motif. never explored that "Q + O + T" in HardOps. Damn....HardOps/BoxCutter tools are so BadAce!
i use the deep grey theme! QOT is a gem. I use it all the time.
Glad you're having fun!
Fantastic video! I was curious what this Add-on was for. I am basically sold now.
Glad it was helpful!
@@masterxeon1001 Very much so. I am progressing a lot in this field and want to learn as much as I can!
Very different workflow but really neat. Thanks mate!
Glad you like it!
Love to see you add something similar 🤞🏽
but then it'd evolve into a task tree...
@@masterxeon1001 got to keep those trees trimmed
@@brendan3556 one day ill illustrate the current trees. They are such oaks. All from a wish for smooth to be closer to autosmooth. But many endeavors have reached conclusions Id consider "acceptable".
@@masterxeon1001 yes .. show us the great Oak.
Mind just blown!
a fun time!
can not wait to start using this
its a fun time. Voxelization has their own visual appeal.
Great to see methods to weld rounded and square shapes together like this easily in blender. What keyboard do you use? It sounds so satisfying to use!
razer blackwidow w/ yellow switches!
id add the vox step last AFTER doing all the cutting etc...these days i model in coat mostly
ah yes. also an option!
I wish Chipp sold Metashape separately. I'd buy it without the DesignMagic stuff, I can use Hopscutter for everything that DesignMagic does anyway, but with more control imo. DM might be faster though. Thing is, I bought Synth, and literally used it like twice. Not that it's super expensive and all, but it's still cash) I think I used Bevel a few times, for the edge wear, but I find Fluent's edge wear stuff way better. I hope with time and experience, I'll be able to use all of Chipps products more (I have them all except this new one).
our philosophies differ on product strategization but the aim was merely to assist users with avoiding issues. I have particular views when it comes to high poly situations in blender. We need some nanite.
@@masterxeon1001 yeah, high poly is super slow unfortunately, although my rig is slowly aging and maybe I need to upgrade my gear..
@@timur7381 one click too far and a small wait will be had.
@@masterxeon1001 you're using an Intel chip right? Did you find Intel cpus work better with blender?
@@timur7381 for me. I might build a 5900x sometime.
Looks really cool! How would you say this differs from the exoside quad remesher addon? Its seems Design Magic handles the intersections a bit better.
they are completely different. It is a realm of difference between voxelization and geometric recalculation. Design magic is definitely much more affordable! I'd equate quad remesher more with Zremesh, Qremesh or Blender's own Quadriflow Remesh.
@@masterxeon1001 Gotcha! Quad remesher has helped me a ton in my work but your right it seems the workflows are very different. Recalc seems more of cleanup while vox is ideation and making shapes. Cool stuff Masterxeon! Love what you guys are doing!
@@benikeler we try our best!
already playing with Design Magic, all your boxcutter stuff is Arcane magic... love the hybrid application and the injected humor
gotta roll with the punches!
Look at your selected mesh at 21.44 AND then at 21.53. Do you see the difference? At 21.44 you got some extrution inwards between the two plug holes, and at 21.53 the extrution inwards is gone, when you ALT+G this part to the center.
I guess it could be fixed before with Late Parent !?
porssibly
This Boxcutter tool is much better than Maya's new SpeedCut Tool.
there is only one original.
This is something similar to Mesh Fusion that Modo has?
voxelization.
No. Mesh fusion doesnt touch all topology and just create a strip of polygons around sharp edges created by boolean operation, while remesh take all you geometry and "rebuild" it complitely.
why is there a frame at 23:03 with the golden ratio and weird anime stuff
edited. just for you.
