As I’ve mentioned on several forums, when HardOPS was released, it was the singular driving force for me to learn, and become comfortable using Blender; I just had to HAVE those modeling capabilities and features! There was def no looking back to other 3D apps when DECALMachine and KitOPS came along! 👍
Just finished the space ship course. I'd highly recommend it. I went from basically knowing nothing to been actually able to make some cool looking models of my own in no time at all. Great work guys.
The features of HardOPs single handedly FORCED me to start using Blender, and finally become proficient with it! HOPs (and finally learning Blender) enabled me to completely drop Modo and move over to Blender full time, and I haven't looked back since!
I purchased HOps and Buxcutter 18 Month ago. Never used it because, you named it. Now I watched this video and I think I need to dive into this addon. For sure you can give an explanation within 20 minutes but I needed 2 hours with all the stops and rewinds until I understood what you were doing. It took me alone 10 minutes after you made the first cut which didn't work for me, until I realized that my shift-v menu was set to World instead of Object. I'm convinced that this addon will help me a lot in the future, but, as you mentioned, it take some time and I have to go step by step. Thank you very much vor this video, it helped me starting with Boxcutter and HOps.
You are the best. I am a hobbyist blender user and was trying out everything but with no clear direction and zero focus. With your videos i think i am going to be a hard surface modeller. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this video - I'll admit, as a hobbyist who doesn't use Blender daily, and seeing the frequent updates for me were daunting; I wouldn't remember which options should be "checked" / changed etc., this primer of yours as given me a foothold I can use time and time again - thanks so much for the time and effort you put into your channel! Now I need to find similar for DECALMachine and KIT OPs, LOL!
well the changes are usually not so radical, you could always grab our course for hopscutter, it should help a ton www.blenderbros.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-hard-ops-and-boxcutter
This is a video format I really enjoy ! It's great to be able to learn the very basics fast. Then, I can quickly play with the tool, trying to design stuff by myself. By having fun with it, it makes me want to learn more advanced Hard Ops and Boxcutter techniques. Great job m8 !
Thanks for the video- I use blender to make things - I create cut files from my models in blender and make lighting and chandeliers. Im learning box cutter not for game assets but more for custom fabrication work. Im always needing to snap to exact dimensions. So far blender has allowed for this. Box cutter and Hard opps have been VERY difficult to learn so far - a lot to learn -
I wish someday use blender and your tools with that kind of speed and aknowlegment. Any ways we apprecciate your tutorials and all your dedication to share with us.
Yep, bought their entire series of tutorials along with box cutter/hardops/zen uv/packmaster pro lol. Been using fusion 360 and moi3d for making hard surface, really want some better quick results in blender now.
I didn't know installation order had an affect, good to know. My addon install script just installs based on alphabetical order. I'll have to build in a dependencies option for this.
Thx for this little rundown, but what do I need to change to be able to mirror like you do in the tutorial series called The Topology Handbook 2.0 for Blender on you page? You just press ALT+x and just flick the mouse in the direction you want the mirror and its done. And it looks like it applies it at the same time too. the mirror option don't even show on screen as you do it so either it's an option or another addon?
Hello, Thank you for this great tutorial. I applied your preferences as described. After I cut using boxcutter the cutter(boolean mesh) is left visible. How are you applying the smart apply automatically? I'm unable to figure out how to do these quick cuts without cluttering up the scene with left over cutters. Thank you
Excellent Tutorial Sir. Please can you advise how one can see the screencast type dialogue box in the middle of screen bottom which shows the X and Y dimensions etc.? Thanking you in anticipation of your reply.
Thank you for this. I was looking for the freshest hardops tut and found this! Btw I can't seem to alt + click sharpen on the Q menu. Is there a specific checkbox for that?
If you are using Linux, Alt+click is for moving a window even if you are not on the title bar. To fix this there is a way (can't remember at the moment), to change that option to like the super or windows key. Google up how to change that and should allow Alt+click to work.
Hi there, I'm a bit late to the convo however I was also facing the same issue. In the end I had to disable "Emulate 3 button mouse" option in order to get alt+lmb to work. If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel you can safely disable the emulate option as you can use the scroll to zoom but also if pressed you can orbit the object just as you would if using the emulate option. To disable it you need to click Edit > Preferences > Input and uncheck the "Emulate 3 button mouse".
how D can be ctrl ` mate? D is D, and ctrl ` is another menu, and that is a hardops menu. hops also has a d menu but i dont use it, so d refers to either bc or decal machine.
Hello Ryuurui! First, thank you man, your stuff is invaluable. About furthering my knowledge.. I recently made a comment in the sci-fi terminal tutorial about bundles. Am I blind.. or is there no bundle currently that includes the ultimate guide to boxcut/ho as well as the group that is related to game assets? I really really want to learn both, but perhaps my direction needs some guidance. I consider myself ready for the next step in blender but im no pro on box cutter and ho yet either... still just getting acquainted, but faster each day! Should I start with a bundle that you recommend? But not a noob start =)
Cheers , mate. There is one on blenderbros.com, called mdoeling package (wee have released those few days ago). The ultimate guide will set you up with BC and hops, generator tut is phenomenal for design, modelig and also rendering and photorealistic edits, and mech design in blender is for those who got no life and wanna model for 50h straight, like me ;-p Then, if you wanna step up, I would recommend design package,, and also the memebership. You can always message me on discord if you got more questions.
Hello! I have a question, why if I use bevel via hardops, , with 3 segments, the cube has a good shading that only works when auto smooth is 60 degrees, if I put 30 degrees in autosmooth it will turn out like crap. But if you make bevel in a vanilla blender, the shading will be good at auto smooth 30 degrees.
Hi! i got some error wwith the box cutter, when i created the shape to cut in to obj it just randomly cut on the obj not by the shape i made, hope u got some time to help me solve this.
am i too late? its Jan 24th and i just got hardops / boxcutter, hit that Q menu and its already different :( I have a PIE not a flat menu, do i need to add sharpen / bevel and etc to favorites?
I cant even get the basics to work in boxcutter right now. When I click and drag to cut a cube it creates a wireframe cube and then another cube appears attached to the cube i'm trying to subtract from....
ok so I found out what the problem was... turns out I had an old version of boxcutter/hardOps that I purchased last year that wasn't compatible with blender 3.0+ ... problem is I cant remember where I purchased those files from in order to get the new updated versions.... so I ended up having to rebuy the add ons, which kind of sucks, but seems like these are must haves if you are serious about using this software to its full potential.
@@PonteRyuurui haha I purchased it last year with intentions of learning hardsurface modelling in blender, but never had the free time to learn..... now I do.
