That video was absolutely amazing Dan! I’m going there last week in March and doing the Watkin path. Can only dream of views like that! 🤩 (and I won’t have a drone😅) Your videos have been invaluable and I’ll be watching (specifically the Watkin path videos) again and again over the next 3 months. Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
Thank you, it was a corker of a day. I nearly didn't go but I saw the wind forecast change from breezy to almost no wind so I did an overnight drive to try and catch the clouds.
I know this is a few months later, but having watched this footage again and again! It´s just stunning and the not very many chances in a lifetime to see that! I went to the Pyranees on Saturday, incredible walk there in Catalunya! Keep posting the videos!
Going this Saturday the 19th of October. I’m getting married next month and didn’t want a stag do. So me and the lads are off to do the Watkin path, my second time doing it. Last time was the summer just gone. Due a lot of rain Saturday but I think we are pretty capable. Exciting times
Wow, wow, and wow again! When you put the effort in to visit and enjoy these places, you get the rewards. Amazing footage. Despite getting up high at the right time and conditions, I’ve yet to to witness a full inversion like that. I’m in Snowdonia in March, hopefully I’ll get lucky.
Wow! You’re making me jealous! I live all the way down on South Coast England so don’t get up there as often as I’d like. There’s nothing better than a Snowdonia hike followed by a trip to the Hangin’ Pizzeria🏔️ 🍕 😋
I drove up from Camberley (Surrey) for this one, kinda lucky as the forecast was changing alot the day before but I just bit the bullet and drove overnight.
Oh you’re shaming me! That means you’ve only got an hour head start on me. I must admit I’d assumed you were local with all that amazing footage. Congratulations on an amazing channel 👍
I walked up the miners from Llyn Gwynant via pen y pas and down the Watkin with my kids (mere pre teens at the time) some years ago. It’s a pretty brutal path, more like a never ending staircase. We could barely stand afterwards! I might have put them off walking for life…. I did however clearly recognise the ‘set’ of ‘carry on up the khyber’ as we walked down, even though I hadn’t appreciated that was where they filmed it! Beautiful part of the world though.
Absolutely stunning, what a contrast between the valley and the summit That the route I plan to do in March. Done most it before but never that circular route. I thought of going up on south ridge and then coming back down the screed. Which way would you recommend. Thank you for another great video. Love your channel. 😁👍
Thanks, you can do either direction but I think most people prefer going uphill on the scree section near the top of the Watkin Path. There was some ice on that bit when I was there and I rememeber telling myself that I was glad I wasn't coming down that way as it looked quite dangerous. It can be snowy/icy in March so you might get some great views.
Awesome video buddy, loved every minute....Got to ask if I may?.... Which car park did you go to at the base of the trail?....We are up there this Sunday (27th October)....So hopefully hear from you beforehand 👍..... Many thanks
There is a free layby here: what3words.com/takeover.infringe.botanists and a pay and display (takes card) just a hundred metres or so up the road. Have fun.
Superb video. Im a trail walker as opposed to climbing .doing the Wales Coasral Path and so far reached Aberdaron on Llyn Peninsula. But I spent a day driving round Eryri and also stayed a night in Llanberis. Ive now got a hankering for going up Yr Wyddfa .probs Llanberis Path .so as I watch a lot of trail videos in addition to doimg my own .thought Id watch some on Snowdon. Your vids have been trwmendously helpful .informative .really well presented and great content. Thank you for this latest one .stunning footage.
Thank you, the Llanberis Path is a good route in the summer but can be a bit sketchy in the winter when it's icy. I published a vid showing a nice circular route worth trying: ua-cam.com/video/qZOtgdlw3r0/v-deo.html
Is the top section abit more laid out path wise? I seen in your video from 2 years ago a path was getting built, how easy it to get to the path? I'm doing the Roc triathlon next Saturday and that's the route up, just wanted to make sure I can make it up.
I've never had any issues, neither do most people, but I've seen a few struggle in low cloud. I think some people just get a bit panicky when the path isn't obvious and they can't see where they're going. I've uploaded a map, downloadable gpx file with gps coordinates and some more images on my site, it's probably worth a look: thebaldscrambler.co.uk/hiking-and-walking/watkin-path/ Only the final 50m or so of the path is paved.
this looks insaneee! going next weekend, would be extremely grateful to be blessed with these scenes!
There's been lots of snow since last Friday when I filmed this so it might look even more stunning!

Now that is a stunning temperature inversion! Awesome day mate, love the drone footage. 👍

Brilliant.. what an inversion aswell 🤯
Even without the inversion you have triggered wonderful memories of my day on this Watkins. Absolutely incredible filming.
Thank you, it's one of my favourite routes up Snowdon. Done it every year for the last 10ys I think. More vids coming soon hopefully.
*Glorious!*
Very nice.

March can be good for inversions, it's usually still cold enough. Good luck!
Stunning 👍👍👍
Thanks Paul :-).
Great footage, much appreciated
Glad you enjoyed it
Exactly the spot I was at today. I actually preferred that view than the very top
Stunning video footage 👌 if this was January 12th, I was up on Helvellyn and Fairfield in the lakes. A fantastic inversion 😊
Yes it was, what a great day. I bet it looked stunning up there too :-).
Awesome video, you lucky fella.
Thanks, the last four attempts to film a cloud inversion failed but this time I got lucky and it was better than I had hoped for.
Brilliant vid, I was up there Friday, was awesome views.
Thanks, yes this was from Friday, what a day!
