"Your imagination is a fairly crucial tool to get through the day" is a wonderful way of describing how stressful and draining reality can be sometimes. We all have important stuff to do, but getting separated from reality and retreating into your own internal world and self is needed at times.
I really enjoy Dylan Moran (I think because I am half Irish and I can see my Irish aunts and uncles really enjoying him if they were still alive) but to me he often looks like he is either on speed (amphetamines) or is going through drug withdrawal. Watch a younger Dylan Moran and he is thin. Look at current day Dylan Moran and he looks like he has been doing a fair amount of drinking and (cake) eating.
@@Paul-sl9zm Season one was co-written by Dylan Moran… and himself! No but seriously, the first season had Graham Linehan as a writer/director but after that he wasn’t really involved. Dylan Moran was writing for the show during its entire run, along with some other writers for season 2 and 3.
The quality is fine and a great upload. There isn't nearly enough Dylan Moran out there and I think this interview really lets him open up in an interesting way.
TOmmy tiernan privately gives talks to charities like focus ireland. and last year he gave a talk to the association i am a member anyway. Tommy Tiernan was doing a gig with Dylan Moran and there were a couple of people who were starting to get a bit mouthy. cause it looked like Dylan moran had lost his place. Moran got to the end of the set. and before he finished he pulled out of his pocket his script for the evening. looked at the crowd in the eye folded up the piece of paper. took his bow and walked off. morans shambolic style is part of the act and he wriitten into the act that he looked like had lost his place. Genius...
my wee flat is surprisingly very close to Dylan's house in Edinburgh, our family love him so much, hes the best comedian from Ireland. Originally From Hong Kong.
There’s an earlier interview with Gay and “I think” Dylan, where Dylan went off the rails and Gay had to end the interview, I remember watching it thinking ‘is this actually happening!?’
Agreed. Tiernan was ok till the late 90's.. around that time he ran out of ideas and he convinced himself that shouting lazy, poorly-concieved, material was funny. The higher the volume, the funnier it is, right? PS: It isn't. PPS: Tiernan's 1998 appearance on the Late Late was the turning-point. Criminally unfunny, and it was all downhill from there..
Does anyone know what he's saying at about 1:19 - "I know, I mean, there's ____ as well?" I'm trying to use this interview for some English Language homework, but I can't quite make it all out.
@NightinGal89 Both--I don't think I've seen him really heavy, but his weight went up and down a couple of times early in his career. (And since I'm in the US, I pretty much only get to see what people are kind enough to post here on youtube--bless their buttons).
@slowflowheat yeah... dunshaughlin doesn't come out of that very either you know. But than again...it's all so true about Navan. You walk laps around the that town out of boredom. Believe I have done it.
That wasn't Dylan's first time on the Late Late. The first was when he did a stand-up routine on a segment featuring young up-and-coming Irish comedians and he died an absolute death. He was funny but he got zero laughs. It was car crash TV. Would love to find a clip of it somewhere
Ok maybe I watch too much youtube but answer me this: doesn't the presenter's laugh, right at the end, remind you the wheezy laugh of the megafamous 'laughing baby'
Not many people like Gay Byrne in Ireland, find his interview style off putting and find him a very establishment figure, even though Gay Byrne has promoted many comedians on his show during his 37 year tenure as host of Ireland's Late Late Show, just some comedians are not big fans of him and his style.
"Your imagination is a fairly crucial tool to get through the day" is a wonderful way of describing how stressful and draining reality can be sometimes. We all have important stuff to do, but getting separated from reality and retreating into your own internal world and self is needed at times.
Especially if you live in Navan.
I thought he was saying that because it's incredibly boring
Yes and those "times" i feel are expanding and become more frequent. 😂
I was raised there. Sometimes comedians don't need jokes, they just need amusing facts.

@@johnmc3862 Yea he's a honey
Sorry it took so long
He seems a little vulnerable, maybe that's part of why women find him attractive. Yes?
Dylan Moran looks really like a mad scientist

I wonder how Dylan Moran wrote the character for Black books?
*see his comday skits*
Ah that's how. He. Is. Bernard. Black.
@Heloise O'Byrne it was mostly written by dylan, it was his idea.
@@denca896
It was written by Graham Linehan

It's so nice to hear his surname pronounced correctly.
It sounded like he said MorrAh, is that correct?
@@raven_of_zoso455 MORan with the emphasis on the MOR.

One of the best Irish comedians going :')
It's like he started slowly morphing into Bernard around this time with the coat and everything xD
"I lived a mile outside of the town"

Dylan's got a bit of a BBC voice himself. It's a very smooth and refined way of speaking, but not too pompous.
He is absolutely brilliant, I would LOVE to see him live
And Gay doesn't treat him like an eccentric weirdo, unlike other interviews with Dylan.
truth
bruh they must call you a fax machine cause’ you be spitting straight fax.
@@phloxazure 😐
Irish people are just odd, whats to eccentric about?

You can tell Dylan has a lot of respect for this man. His tone isn't condescending or sarcastic.
The one dislike on this video was from a single Corkman.
Mariam, this video is pure gold! Quality is perfect :)
Thanks for posting

“it’s only an hour up the road”
“a lot can happen in an hour..”
knowing Navan, this is gas🤣
He's literally wearing Bernard Black's costume here...
This is wonderful, and the vid quality is fine. If you have more of this and can post it, that would be much appreciated.

He made Gay laugh he's made it!! lol
Thank you very much ^_^!
Dylan Moran rocks hes my fave Irish comedian
"Dunshaughlin", another Irish town.
Smokes and drinks all the time yet he hasn't aged a day since then.
That's cuz he's Irish.
hopefully he'll never get old
Take another look...
He is right people judge you by your accent.

YAYYYYYY!!!! they got his name right!!!!!
"I know it's only an hour up the road but a lot can happen in an hour" SOO TRUE XD
I have to say that the well-spoken, intelligent Moran is a far better advertisement for Ireland than that knacker Tiernan.
Taco Bell can we not enjoy both?
Agreed 100%. Tiernan is mortifying but I think, also quite mad.

He's got that Bill Murray neck swing going on!
I love him.
I love that Gay basically hasn't a clue how to deal with the complete randomness of Dylan...
@JohnsonLobster We irish are proud of our own when they make it big.
The Irish Rick danko...

I love you. You found Nigel Thornberry!

I thought this was a clip about Dylan Moran talking about a gay Ed Byrne. Damn you., internet.
After all that's man's middle name is Ludwig.
I was expecting him to yell at Manny while up on stage.
As true today as 50 years ago
Dunshaughlin! Yeah.
He's from Navan? I've driven through Navan. It was... small...
Depends on your route, speed, time of day...........

@Richiesambuka Strange minds we live within, eh?

I just see Bernard Black
Frodo in real life.

But, he did announce him as Dylan MorON - didn´t he?
D'aww he so chubby.
@MrCCollins1993 lies, we all love Dylan Moran, it aint exclusive to county!
@ThingsWeSaidToday Well obviously!!
To me, Dylan Moran strongly suggests a resemblance to....Walter Brennan. Interesting? since both are Irish.
what wine does he drink?
What does he say when Gay Byrne asks him about his accent, "No I live in ***** side of the town", I cant make it out!
Nah, his hair is just bigger. ;)

What's with this guy and never combing his head hair? Even in the 'Blacks Books' his hair was a mess.
