    Such a creepy and interesting story, Dr. Grande! It left me wondering whether or not Ray wasn't responsible for the disappearances of other transients over his lifetime, yet it didn't finally catch up with him until he became so bold as to commit so many relatively traceable crimes in a short period of time. People have gone missing forever and not many of those cases are ever solved.

    • @farmalmta
      @farmalmta Рік тому

      I'd lay odds Ray was a long time serial killer who had killed as early as his teen years and possibly frequently thereafter.
      History is replete with serial killers who never quite made it onto the radar. If you google death certificates along railroad lines of the early railroading days, you'll find many for "UNKNOWN", cause of death being crushed on railroad tracks. Not all of them just got sleepy and fell off the train or were dragged under trying to get on. Plenty were shoved under by traveling killers among the hobo crowd.

    Thank you for the interesting video and analysis. I remember this in the news when it occurred. The part that interests me is Jack Mc Cormick had a suspicion that Ray was going to shoot him. In other accounts, Jack looked into Ray's eyes while poking for the "racoon". Hence Ray could not
    shoot him while Jack was looking at his eyes. I have heard/read similar stories of this. One comes to mind of a WWII Japanese prison camp survivor. He claimed he was about to be stabbed to death in the camp but, he kept looking at the attacker's eyes and was spared. Also you hear of stories where the killer instructs their victims to turn around and not face the killers before they
    are murdered. As a psychologist, what is the significance of avoiding death from a killer by looking into the killer's eyes?

    People like Ray seem to brag quite a bit about their exploits, which they seem to think admirable, clever, and enviable. Given her intimate knowledge of his character, I think she was aware of the murders. Unless he packed her off each time to see family, it's impossible to believe she wouldn't figure it out. One drifter might have left suddenly, leaving all their belongings, but all 5 wouldn't have.

    WE ARE ALL 'HOMELESS'
    We may think of ourselves as financially secure. but we are one step away from being 'HOMELESS '.
    A bad marriage: an addiction: mental or physical illness: loss of employment: national crisis etc.
    HOMELESS PEOPLE are very vulnerable as they have nothing.
    If you don't want to help a homeless person person, don't.
    But to exploit them and hurt them is very wrong.

    DR. Grande! HUGE fan. I recently heard a the podcast Casefiles the story of Candra Torres. She defended her rapist and her husband's killer during police interrogation. The podcast unsurprisingly mentions Stockholm Syndrome but without elaborating and it explained that it's a controversial diagnosis and not in the DSM. I was surprised. Consider doing a video about Ms. Torres or another case like to explore is Stockholm Syndrome is a "legitimate" diagnosis for behavior?
    Thanks!
