Thank you for this video. I played it when I was 7-8, as much as I remember. Now I'm 19. This game was a masterpiece, spent many days trying to win. English isn't my mother tongue, so it was really hard to understand what's going on. Still remember the first time I played it, I was so scared I never wanted to play it again, but somehow I did. And when I was a bit older my parents bought a newer computer with newer games, and little by little I stopped playing this. After few years of not using it, the old computer died and I understood I could never play this game again. This game started haunting me, I knew I must play this at least once again, somehow. After some searches, this longplay video gave me the nostalgia I was craving for. Now I can live in peace, thank you again! :)
The gaming art at its best, one of the eternal Amiga masterpieces. I remember not simply loving this game, but cherishing it: its atmosphere, the refined graphics, the fitting sound effects, its secrets and puzzles, the level design, not to speak about the HELL of a FUN it was playing it. *_* No more games have been this rewarding since, like when you finally solved a puzzle and were able to move on. Man, I gotta beat this one again.
During my student years in Turkey this play is an unforgettable masterpiece that I encountered in the 1990s and watched with pleasure in 2024 .I always said this, how could these roofs think of these things?visual, sounds, rational, dreamy, mysterious and I think there may still be unsolved parts.Bana göre bu oyun, üretildiği yıla bağlı olarak zamanının çok ötesinde düşünülmüş ve tasarlanmış.Simple-looking signs, symbols and objects were not a work of thought, but on the contrary, they required a mythological .This story combined with music and sound has become legendary. With my sincerest respects
Great to revisit the game that started my video game addiction. I used to sneak into my brothers room to play this on his Amiga while he was at school. I never did win but at least now I know how the game should have been played.
This is a classic..had it on the Amiga originally and then bought it again years later on SNES. Atmospheric, amazing sound, great puzzles..the Bitmap Bros were a class act. Anyone know what they're doing now ?
"Into... the wonderful. Into... the wonderful. Aaaa aaaa aw... Aaaa aaaa aw". One of the coolest Amiga songs ever. Bitmap Brothers are Gods! ITA.: Una delle cazoni più fiche mai create su Amiga. Divini Bitmap Brothers!
@sastasa The choise of colors is perfect for the theme of the game. THis game doesn't take place in a circus or a cyberpunk future, it takes place in mythical ancient Greece, and the colors reflect that well.
It's strange how games looks now different. I remember playing this as a kid. I remember the intro picture. I remember the taggers and the shop. And some sound effects. But many things like the enemies looks unfamiliar to me.
HELL! You got that elusive SNES tune for stage completion on the first run through World 1-1! That tune only seemed to show up rarely throughout the game, when I last played the ROM. Kept reloading savestates just to get it to come up.
I'm happy to see that many people like that record, even after more than 3 years ! For the storry i made that record because Gods is the first game i played on amiga and deffinitivly the one that carved his name in my gamer's heart. Thx to the Bitmap brothers for that.
Another ridiculously hard game from the Amiga days, "come on man, I just want to have some fun". I always loved the music at the start tho; actually for some time one of the audio connectors was broken so I could only hear one half of the audio "Etoo Ewada-wada- Etoo Ewada-wada" Those vocals without the music was hilarious to listen to.
@cubex55 - this game didnt appear to use amiga smooth scrolling, rather port of atari ST method (crossplatform game for economical art&design rather than amiga hardware fest, fair enough)
wowwwww....great, great gameplay, Dude! ,) How did You find out how to switch the levers on the 1st level to get all the bonuses?? It's seems really difficult to me...although i tried a lot! =/
Haha this is so cool. I remember every single bit of it. The sounds, the gameplay, the switches, the shop. Great! If you compare this to the gameplay we have now this is a joke, but back then it was great! :)
The difficulty level does really ramp up, then there are those parts where you take a potion to give you a super jump and the platform is not accesable without it, so often there were situations where if you failed to do it in certain way or time you may as well quit because you cannot go on
I played this for a long time. Hard to make progress, but it had that "one more go" impetus to it. I seem to remember the music was by John Foxx under the "Nation 12" pseudonym...
haha same i remember being a small kid and playing this game on my dad's pc back in 2000. Oh the memories! This game was ridiculously difficult, only ever managed to kill the 1st guardian.
1) Make sure your energy is so low that on next contact you would die. 2) Stand in front of the end of level door and wait for contact from enemy walking into you. 3) As soon as contact is made be quick to exit through the door. 4) If you done this correctly you should now see your score topping up through the millions. I think it takes about 20 minutes to stop, but it will stop. I am remebering from this from about 19 years ago!!! Thumbs up if it works for you or you can remeber this cheat!!!
You aren't patient enough, i used to play this game all day all night until i beat it, on the pc. Every time you passed some object or what it gave you a secret password for that level, but i agree with you it's a really hard game!
That's interesting. The Open Pandora version has the same levels but there are more things to it, which make it tougher :/ like extra doors and enemies all over the place.
This game was made for the generation of clean strong mind, great memory and so on. Used to play this one in 1993. Nowadays the children with their mobile phones do not remember what they've been doing 5 minutes ago...
This game is from Old School gaming. I play this at 6 or 7 years old, now i have 23. But i no talking about me, MY DAD and his friends play this when them have 35 years old.
I don't understand why the time I played for each level is much longer than in the video despite having the same route and the movement of apparently slower, having no flaw. I played on line version and I used a stopwatch to mark the time. It is almost double the time than in the video.
I was a huge fan of this game! I'm amazed anyone could complete this game though! I always got to a point where I was sitting there thinking now what! I've been all over the place though a dozen doors and I cannot get to the end of the level! the very worst thing was those times later on where you either got it right 1st time or you were screwed!! like "the super jump potion wore off before I was able to get up to the platform! now what!!!! I needed that key to progress and there is no do over!
FANTASTIC, well done with this classic game, i have completed it many times, but never at this skill level..now i play it all the time on my N95. pity the new version never appeared on the GBA it was supposed to be released around 2002?? but i think it never saw light of day, shame!!..
awesome game. still playing it today with winuae. brings back the great 90s memories with the amiga. But hmm...two things: minutes ago I tried to turn the levers like you did (those secret bonuses I never knew before), but on the first level the last trap door won't come out (4:15)...also the 2nd level, I won't get the high-jump potion though I turned the levers exactly like you did. somehow it doesn't work for me (6:14) . o_O different .adf file maybe?
Hey, great video. Tell me please how did you get to the cross to the chapel? Two of the three "killer spinners" just exploded but they do not for me? What did I forget to do? Thanks!
I remember finishing this game on the second difficulty level hoping some magic level or something would open. Does the game difficulty mode just keep going up or does it actually end?
i still have my amiga in perfect condition and about 1000 games i also have the emulator but god damn it cant replace the magic of amiga.it was my first computer and my only love.i play from time to time and any company wont make games like that and a computer like that.as for gods yes its a classic as most of the amiga games.thumps up for every long play u uploaded or will upload even if it is the worst amiga game ever
Argh, the puzzles....never could figure out some of the secret ones more than twice in a row. Still trying to remember how to get the Large Gem in World 2, and the Large Treasure Chest in World 3.
@powderyorgan i have problem running Turrican 2 (and other shooters as well) smoothly on WinUAE. Only option is that games are smooth but faster than normal, or normal but unnaturally choppy. (never played it on Amiga, i still have Amiga but no Turrican on it). I did read somewhere that this issue cannot removed cause emulation refresh rate conflict with PC. Maybe they solved it now.
@S0ryiu Nu uh. Nation XII. Does anyone know what Nation XII do now? I loved all their Amiga tunes but can't find anything on them at all. Meanwhile, Into the Wonderful still resides in my Winamp playlist.
Thank you for this video. I played it when I was 7-8, as much as I remember. Now I'm 19. This game was a masterpiece, spent many days trying to win. The best arcade game I ever played.

What a fantastic game. this version was so much better graphically as well as sound effects than the mega drive version.
An aptly named game by the gods of Amiga gaming: The Bitmap Brothers! Poured many hours into this one, Xenon 2 and Speedball!
During my student years in Turkey this play is an unforgettable masterpiece that I encountered in the 1990s and watched with pleasure in 2024 .I always said this, how could these roofs think of these things?visual, sounds, rational, dreamy, mysterious and I think there may still be unsolved parts.Bana göre bu oyun, üretildiği yıla bağlı olarak zamanının çok ötesinde düşünülmüş ve tasarlanmış.Simple-looking signs, symbols and objects were not a work of thought, but on the contrary, they required a mythological .This story combined with music and sound has become legendary. every once in a while i watch this game.. nostalgia
Great to revisit the game that started my video game addiction. I used to sneak into my brothers room to play this on his Amiga while he was at school. I never did win but at least now I know how the game should have been played.
Noch eines meiner damaligen Lieblingsspiele, ich liebe diese krass gestalteten Jump & Run Games, habs glaub ich selber sogar 1-2 mal durchgezockt
Spectacular looking game, and even more so when you consider it used a mere 16 colors, of which only 14 were used to draw the level graphics.
Ah, the dreaded Grey and Gold palette (with little variations) used since Malone entered the team at the time of Xenon II ^.^
This is a classic..had it on the Amiga originally and then bought it again years later on SNES. Atmospheric, amazing sound, great puzzles..the Bitmap Bros were a class act. Anyone know what they're doing now ?
Youre one hardcore gamer man
This longplay is pure kickass!
Goes straight to my Favourites! =D
"Into... the wonderful. Into... the wonderful. Aaaa aaaa aw... Aaaa aaaa aw". One of the coolest Amiga songs ever. Bitmap Brothers are Gods!

The choise of colors is perfect for the theme of the game. THis game doesn't take place in a circus or a cyberpunk future, it takes place in mythical ancient Greece, and the colors reflect that well.
Nation 12 also featured John Foxx (The original singer from Ultravox)
This track is on the album Electrofear as "Into the wonderland"
well done, i love this game and now i love it more. you've shown me so much stuff i've not seen before. 10/10
Clocked this and Magic Pockets... Amiga 500 was the Shiznit...
It's strange how games looks now different. I remember playing this as a kid. I remember the intro picture. I remember the taggers and the shop. And some sound effects. But many things like the enemies looks unfamiliar to me.

Kept reloading savestates just to get it to come up.
i found this game to be very hard back then
Beautiful but difficult game. Nice atmosphere.
I only used the mod-file in scream tracker. Was always messin arround with music files then. Amiga made my day!!
The nostalgia is strong in this one...
I'm happy to see that many people like that record, even after more than 3 years !
For the storry i made that record because Gods is the first game i played on amiga and deffinitivly the one that carved his name in my gamer's heart.
Thx to the Bitmap brothers for that.
Memories! I can't stop watching.
The SFX are so much better in the Amiga version than they were on the DOS version.
Amazing !Such an atmospheric master work. Played this for months.Would like to see this for a PC update..
One of the most awesome intro songs ever!
This guy has some serious skills :) thanks for letting me relive my past
@cubex55 - this game didnt appear to use amiga smooth scrolling, rather port of atari ST method (crossplatform game for economical art&design rather than amiga hardware fest, fair enough)
I like how the intro texts are synced with the music
This game is to PC as Divine Comedy to literature or ninth Beeth´s symphony to music. A classic.
Yay! The mighty Bitmap Brothers' Shop concept. One of the most influencial dev team of all times! Definitely! :)
wowwwww....great, great gameplay, Dude! ,)
How did You find out how to switch the levers on the 1st level to get all the bonuses??
It's seems really difficult to me...although i tried a lot! =/
Awesome game one of my top ten games on the amiga.

Sweet: this was a nostalgic brick in the face. Thank you for posting dude.
I played this game all the time, it was hard at times too, I want to play it now.
Haha this is so cool. I remember every single bit of it. The sounds, the gameplay, the switches, the shop. Great! If you compare this to the gameplay we have now this is a joke, but back then it was great! :)
True work of art and very nostalgic. I love this!
INTO... THE WONDERFUL... I love that tune. EPIC.
The difficulty level does really ramp up, then there are those parts where you take a potion to give you a super jump and the platform is not accesable without it, so often there were situations where if you failed to do it in certain way or time you may as well quit because you cannot go on
There is a remastered version on Steam since this month (12/18)
(and I shot alot of hours in this game and other titels like SOTB III [20 Years ago])
Holy cow! Thanks for the tip man!
I bought it to longplay it but sadly my old ati HD is gone to another world..
Whoa, this isn't even a speedrun! The dude that did this must've been a god himself :D
Even the shopkeeper has big ass arms :)
It mainly gave them the freedom to run Atari ST code on the Amiga...
Yes, Gods has a single gradient copperlist in the background... Wow!
I played this for a long time. Hard to make progress, but it had that "one more go" impetus to it. I seem to remember the music was by John Foxx under the "Nation 12" pseudonym...
this brings back good old memories :]
This isn't the first time you played this.
I kid, fantastic video, played this to death a long long time ago.
haha same i remember being a small kid and playing this game on my dad's pc back in 2000. Oh the memories! This game was ridiculously difficult, only ever managed to kill the 1st guardian.

Yeah, but even those who dislike it must admit it's graphics's quality and character desig were top class.
Amazing graphics!
That's interesting. The Open Pandora version has the same levels but there are more things to it, which make it tougher :/ like extra doors and enemies all over the place.
My father took me with him at his job so I can play it. I had an PC-XT at home at that time, and gods was the GODS` game!
What I always liked: The graphics and gameplay, there is so much to discover here...
What I never liked: The animation and scrolling.
Que recuerdos, me lo pase entero. El último jefe me costó horroresss...
love it love it love it!such nice memories.
This game was made for the generation of clean strong mind, great memory and so on. Used to play this one in 1993. Nowadays the children with their mobile phones do not remember what they've been doing 5 minutes ago...

Along with Chaos Engine greatest game of all time
@Alianger Interestingly enough the Genesis version did have in game music
Intro Remake coming soon :)
longplay forever!

different .adf file maybe?
Huh, I never discovered all those secret bonuses on level 1. That's impressive
I never worked out the ergonomics of how, on level 1 world 2, that orc monstery thing drops a spining bladed trap.
I came for the beginning, and the end
I remember making it to the final boss, and then dying. :P
Excellent game, though. One of the best Amiga games.
@mykeymike
That's also something that amazes me!!! Low RAM, GREAT EVERYTHING!
Royal ... chapeau bas
The audio for this game is amazing. The Bitmap Brother's were awesome. Anyone know what happened to them?
I played this a million times on my Amiga 500 but I never finished it. (at least not that I remember)
And now I know why.
Gods is the #1 Amiga game ever.
In general, how many times are you expected to flip each switch? Twice? Three times? A dozen?
Thanks for sharing
Would be nice to play this again
Glad to know I'm not the only one.
i didn't even have sound when i was playing this game back in the days :D
what a weird end boss. also the gods didn't give him immortality, just some extra lives.
Of course, but "enemy's death animation, multiplied several times" looks much better than "non-multiplied", especially when you hear that SCREAM.
arcade platform games -- the best games!
Hey, great video. Tell me please how did you get to the cross to the chapel? Two of the three "killer spinners" just exploded but they do not for me? What did I forget to do? Thanks!
This brings back memories!
Friend of mine had it, And i just tried it for 5 hours...! It was good..!
The best game on Amiga, tnx BB!!!!
Man, you could have died at least ONCE!!!
Death animation was sooo cool in this game, I really wanted to see it again!!!
I remember finishing this game on the second difficulty level hoping some magic level or something would open. Does the game difficulty mode just keep going up or does it actually end?
My childhood :'(

In the chamber with the moving platform all four switches need to be upright before proceeding downstairs.
@S0ryiu Nu uh. Nation XII. Does anyone know what Nation XII do now? I loved all their Amiga tunes but can't find anything on them at all.
