Thank you so much for this video. First time owning an analog watch with date and time. I had no idea how to adjust it. Your advice was very helpful! Thank you!
Amazing video! Only video to get right to the point and warn us properly on the common breakage of the watch. You saved me from sending mine in for repairs! Bravo! I hope you know you saved me a lot of money and time! Merry Christmas
Yes, I understand that warning. I tend to do it after I wake up, just before breakfast. However, what happens if you do it in the afternoon? Will that put the watch out of sync? Or do all analog watches keep track of 24 hour cycles? Of course, if you have a battery changed in the afternoon, a lazy fitter might set it wrong, so it's worth checking the date the next day and winding it past midnight to get the date change function working properly.
Thanks for telling me to move it to 6am I couldn't figure out where to put the hands at I have a Casio I got awhile back and to do it it's up for numbers and down moves The day it also has Spanish and English Day
Does the "don't change the date if the time is set 9p-3a" go for all watches? I know I wont change the date on my watch if the time is between 9p-3a just to be safe but I am curious. I like to see a video explaining the water proof, how deep rating thing of watches. Not a deep dive or anything. Just an over view would be cool. Thanks so much. BTW my favorite time of the day is 6:30! HANDS DOWN!
Does not apply to modern Rolexes. But goes for any watch with movements by ETA. So almost all modern mechanical watches. Breitling for examples uses ETA Valjoux in his watches and fine tunes it in-house for extreme accuracy. I changed the date on a Mido with ETA more than once between 9pm and 3am out of carelessness. I noticed some resistance/grinding of the engaged gear train for date change. Probably something that only can be done around 50 times before the gears are worn down.
The day and date mechanisms engage a few hours before midnight and are still in motion a few hours after midnight. If you make manual adjustments while these gears are activated it can snap one of the gears. Apparently a lot of modern watches have failsafes. Here's a great blog post about it: www.watchuseek.com/threads/date-change-damage-questions.5181353/
Hi There, sorry im trouble to understand "between".. does it mean between hours 9,10,11,12,1,2,3 only or it literally mean between 9:00~9:59 and 3:00~3:59?. cheers!
You are able to change between 9 AM and 3 PM. You don’t want to change the day or date between 9 PM and 3 AM because that’s when the date change mechanism is engaged.
When I manually adjusted the day and the date, the time on the watch was between 2 o’clock and 3:00 PM. The day and date mechanism are not engaged at that time. You should be avoiding changing the day and the date manually when the time is between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.at 2:30 in the video, I was not manually adjusting the day and the date, I was progressing the time forward, which was allowing the mechanism to engage as it would. If we’re going by in real time, I was simply moving the hand forward much quicker than real time.
On my Lorus quartz the clockwise/anticlockwise adjustment for Day and Date are flipped. lmao Or something like that, counterclockwise adjusted the date and clockwise the day.
I have Gosasa Unisex Military watch with only one control which only appears to pop out once, no second pop. No instructions. This video did not help me either unfortunately.
Watches at this price are unable to determine that, so on 28 day months or 30 day months, you will need to adjust the date. If you wanted an automatic watch that detected the 28 and 30 day months you would be looking at Annual Calendar watches. If you wanted a watch that detects 28 day and 30 day months as well as leap years, that would be a perpetual calendar watch. You can get these features on digital watches or radio controlled watches at a relatively affordable level. However, if you want this in the mechanical realm, you’ll be looking at very expensive and complicated watches.
Hey amm.. i just bought a new watch and wanted to set time I don't know what's happening but i am moving the crown back and forward and the problem is days going back and forth but date is not coming backwards it's only going one day head not coming a day back ....pls help Thankyou 🥲
Thank you so much for this video. First time owning an analog watch with date and time. I had no idea how to adjust it. Your advice was very helpful! Thank you!
Very good job, you are the only one that explained how to adjust the date and day, thank you

I also set the day and date to one day before current and then spin the time forward so I know when it's AM on todays date.
Great tip!
If you can’t tell if it’s am or pm…..there’s some problems to address
Super cool video. Thank you very much. I watched it only once and I was able to set my watch correctly. Super grateful. Keep up the good work👍👍👍
Thanks, fixed day and date on my Chrono Swiss Military watch
This is a machine after all 😎👍 thanks for the tip it works at 6am
Thank You I Need That To Fix My Mistakes About What Happened I Did Over These Days
Can't wait to try this on my watch. Thanks for creating this video!
Hi sir..u said we should not make any adjustment between 9 and 3..but u did that 1:44 ..can u explain more please
No he said don't make adjustment between 9pm and 3am. At 1:44 he knew he was at about 10am, not 10pm, because the date hadn't changed at 12

Great video! Unfortunately, the gear that sets the day of the week is broken on my watch, so I'll be stuck on Spanish until I get it fixed.

Thank you so muchhhhh 🙏🏻

How exactly will you damage your watch? I clearly dont see how thats even possible so if you please could explain. thanks

Hey,i have set my watch's day as saturday at 5 pm,but it shows sunday the next day only at 5 pm and not in the morning. What shall i do??
so if you move it while its 9pm -3am with the first click it can damage it but moving it forward with second click you can not damage it?

How to adjust day and date sync after a month ended with 30 days?
Like my match is showing correct day, but date is of yesterday.
Hi!! Does the warning apply for battery watches????
Thanks but am I seeing things or did you actually change the date/time while between 9 and 6?
You are able to change between 9 AM and 3 PM. You don’t want to change the day or date between 9 PM and 3 AM because that’s when the date change mechanism is engaged.
When you adjusted the day annd date it was set at 2:30...definitely not between 3 and 9 per your warning? Why?

That is not working on my watch. The number for the day kind moves a little but that is it.
Thanks! I just bought my first $200 solar seiko watch, and it had no instructions in the box.............. only the warranty lol.
I didn't know there's a special way I know you shouldn't force the gears because that destroys the clockwork
On my Lorus quartz the clockwise/anticlockwise adjustment for Day and Date are flipped. lmao
Or something like that, counterclockwise adjusted the date and clockwise the day.
when i pull that watch roller it brokeeeeeee😂😂🤣
why you rotate again once after you pass 3 00?
and why you change the day and date when you are under 2?
I have Gosasa Unisex Military watch with only one control which only appears to pop out once, no second pop. No instructions. This video did not help me either unfortunately.
My day changes at 1 am and date changes at12 am why?
/how these watches detect its 28 day month? and tomorrow is 1st?

When you actually were adjusting the day and date you did so at 2:30...definitely nor between 3 and 9. Strange.
