Garlic Butter Pasta - Japanese Sirasu Spaghetti with Garlic, Butter, Spinach しらすパスタの作り方

Quick & easy garlic butter pasta, Japanese-style. A flavorful dish of spaghetti with garlic, butter, chili, spinach, soya sauce and Japanese Sirasu (which is boiled salted whitebait). Under 10 minutes & DELICIOUS!

For 2 dishes of Sirasu Pasta, you will need:
Spaghetti 80g per person. I use 8min spaghetti, thin spaghetti types will work better with this recipe
Salt 1 tbsp
Spinach: half a package, use mostly the leaf parts
Japanese Shirasu (salted boiled whitebait): some, about 100g
Garlic 3 cloves, thinly sliced
Chilli: few, about 1 tbsp of ring-cut dried chili. you can add more if you like spicy taste.
White pepper: a little bit
Soya sauce: a little bit (depending on how salty your soya sauce is). Don't add too much because the whitebait are already salted.
Salted butter 2 tsp
Olive oil 3 tbsp
Let’s cook Sirasu Pasta!
1. Start by boiling the water for the pasta
2. While waiting for the water to be boiled, thinly slice the garlic
3. In a cold pan, add the garlic, chilli, black pepper and olive oil, put on low heat
4. when the water is boiled, add the pasta, add salt
cook 1 min less than instruction on your pasta pack. mine is 8min pasta, so i boiled for 7min.
about 40 seconds before the pasta is done, add the spinach and boil together
when the time is up, transfer the pasta and spinach to the garlic chilli oil pan
turn the heat up a bit, about medium low heat
add butter & soya sauce
mix well and quickly
transfer the pasta to dishes and add Shirasu for topping
done!
It's quick, simple, delicious and just perfect for a quick work-from-home lunch :)
