Guys, I think this song is based on Edger Allan Poe's Black Cat. -Ai (white-haired boy) seems to have drinking problems, smokes and, also takes pills (this could be medicine for social anxiety or depression) similar to the man in Allan's story who used to love his cat a lot, maybe even more than his wife. He also had a drinking problem. -In the story, the man comes home really drunk one day and assumes that his cat is avoiding him. This enrages him beyond belief because he thinks the cat no longer loves him, so he grabs the cat and stabs its eye out. At 3:58 we see Aru's (the cat guy) eyes bleeding right after the verse "just everything is drunk and unsteady". At 3:01 you can clearly see one of Aru's eyes bleeding and at 3:16 when Ai is holding him you can see that his red eyeball is no longer there. From this, we can assume that Ai stabbed Aru in the eye while in a drunken state. -Then we see Ai crying at 3:17 and hugging him after realizing what he has done. In Allan's version, the cat lives but becomes avoidant of the man out of fear. This angers him because he thought his cat would learn to love him again and understand that what he did was an "accident" so he ties a rope around the cat's neck and hangs it in his cellar. Using my limited Japanese; The name of the song is partially in Katakana which refers to names of Ai and Aru. Ai in japanese means love. But since its in katakana, we can probably assume it is referring to the name Ai and Aru.
What I think happened is this: 1) The guy tried to commit suicide (judging by the noose like rope/scarf around his neck at the end), but he entered a kind of limbo just before death 2) His cat appears in the form of a spirit, stopping him from dying somehow 3) So when we first hear the chorus 'I just mistakenly want to believe that you loved me', it seems like the guy questioning why the cat spirit is trying to prolong his suffering, and the guy is also assuming that those words are coming from him. (In fact they may be alternating, as the colours of the lyrics switch from red to white, indicating the cat and the guy respectively) 4) But in reality, it's the cat who is dying of starvation or neglect or maybe trading its life for the guy's, and he is actually the one singing in the last chorus 5) 2:48 is when the guy realises that the song was the CAT asking why he didn't love him enough to stay alive for him, and now the cat was dying for him or because of him, hence the cat saying 'I'm the one coughing up blood!' 6) This causes the guy to flip out as he cradles the dying cat spirit, but it's too late. - The final line of lyrics in white are supposed to be from the guy. He doesn't finish it: 'our love was just me mistakenly wanting to believe', but maybe what it would have said was 'that I loved you' 7) He wakes up in reality, alive now because of the cat, but now the cat is dead.
So..Here some theories i found The demon’s design and concept is probably based off cat youkai’s (Japanese demons/spirits) such as the nekomata or bakeneko, youkai’s that were previously a cat before transformation.Bakeneko’s are often said to wear napkins or cloths on their heads. This is probably why the demon design has him wearing a sort of cloth on his head. There are 2 characters in this PV who are confirmed by their creators WOOMA and Niru Kaijtsu to be named: Aru (left, the demon/ghost) and Ai (right, the white haired boy). Ai was someone who suffered from depression and was living at a very low point in his life. His only friend at the time was his pet, his cat, Aru Ai tried to commit suicidefirst, even tho he failed, he still passed out. And so by Ai “killing” himself, Aru thought that his owner “left” him and that he actually never loved him. Aru felt betrayed but Aru still wanted to (mistakenly) believe that Ai did love him so he stays in the room with Ai until he wakes up and “comes back”, however Aru dies of hunger first. He then torments Ai in his dreams as a vengeful ghost until Ai realizes what he’s done to him. Personally, I think that it would make more sense if Ai had (accidentally) killed Aru with his own hands first then committed suicide afterwards. His breakdown at 2:55 and his guilt would make much more sense that way, but it’s still interesting to theorize on who died first and how. In conclusion, I think they’re both in a “misunderstanding” because Ai believed Aru didn’t love him due to his mental illness and Aru’s behavior as a cat/the fact that he can’t speak or openly show affection. Aru believed Ai didn’t love him because of his abusive behavior and the fact that he killed him in the end.
I love how after you Heard miy_yuu's version, you feel Like the original is just lacking so much (action etc.) and is really dull (compared to his Covers) Especially at the "chi haita no wa sa" (2:56) it builds up action and then just "bursts Out", as i would say. Miy_yuu is an incredible Singer and wooma is an great artist, i would love to hear more of his covers with wooma making the PV! (I really love wooma's artstyle, and in combination with miy_yuu's voice its just perfect, also, taringtajams subtitles shouldnt be missing, They're amazing!)

2:28 I swear, _I swear_ I keep coming back to replay this part of the song up to the end of the final chorus, _especially_ the *"chi haite no wa sa"* part. The visuals, vocals, melody, lyrics, intensity, everything. It's so perfect.
I feel like this is a story about a neglectful lover, and their slow decent into despising their own lover and becoming physically abusive. First we can tell that he doesn't actually love this cat looking girl, because of one of the first lines in the song. 'I wanted to mistakenly believe that you loved me' which makes me think the boy is in love with the idea of being love. The girl is represented as a cat/cat looking human. Cats, and pets in general, are known for being dependent on their owners. For food, water, but most importantly, affection. Cats are also known for being prideful and self centered. But it mostly comes from wanting affection, something that is needed in a loving relationship. But as we can see, the boy isn't a good pet owner, he's and alcoholic, his room is a mess, and he seems indifferent to our cat girl. Going by this we can determine that he probably doesn't care about himself or his living space, which he shares with his cat/girlfriend. So we can assume that he doesn't care about his lovers living space, or his lover. By the end the cat has been bugging him for so long that he lashes out, thus the 'blood is coming from my mouth' line that the cat lady says. And by the time we get to the end, the cat has died. With blood splattered around it. This can have three different meanings, one: he killed the girlfriend in the mouth blood injury (or she killed herself.) . two, the girl has stopped caring and is now a shadow of her former self, a 'corpse' of sorts. Or three, the girl has left him, leaving a decaying memory for him to deal with.
A bit late but let me add my two cents into this. The lover that looks like a cat also resembles a jiangshi, a chinese zombie/vampire. At first viewing, I saw it as the lover being abusive to the white haired guy and draining him mentally and exhausting him with insulting, lowering his self esteem, similar to how jiangshi drain the life energy or blood out of their victims. By making the lover as jiangshi it adds on to the aspect of your theory that he killed her or killed herself and came back as a reanimated corpse to haunt him. Also visually the lover looks stiff and constantly t posing our main character like how a jiangshi moves. Idk about the actual cat tho. I think its symbolic rather than him actually owning a cat and killing it.
I really, really do love it when people build up a song to an amazing climax. It's often upsetting when they change up things with the bridge but the last chorus doesn't feeling fulfilling at all. I love the soft drop to 2:47 and you just know it's the "calm before the storm." What he did with 2:55 is a whole new level of satisfaction. It truly evokes something, some emotion, when you hear it. I love it so much.

I think the song is about a man who took in a stray cat, and even though he fed her, gave her shelter, tried to love her, she was still aggressive. One night, maybe after a drinking binge or a bout of drugs, he smashed the bathroom mirror and the shards killed the cat. The end of the video I think shows he tried to hang himself after that but the rope snapped (that or he's wearing the world's worst scarf).
This "rope" isn't knotted in the hanging way...so I think it is the world worst scarf ever (I'm not so good at English...but I hope you get what I'm saying)

I really like how at the very end of the video the man wakes up and he has the colors of the cat. Like the way the ominous looking window from before now has a feeling of hope instead of the anguish and regret from the scene just a moment before he wakes up. Idk it feels like the cat is living through the man now and there’s no ill will despite what happened. It just hits different I can’t really explain it

This is so sad. The theory I believe makes me so sad oh my god. We can see that Ai (white haired guy) has (implied) smoking and drinking problems which is likely his way of coping through the (also implied) way he's either shunned by society or has problems and difficulties with socializing. In the theory I believe, he depended on his cat too much. Being so deprived of contact with other people and lacking so much experience, his cat was all that he had but he didn't know how to love it. I think it's also very obvious that his mental health isn't really good with the addictions, head clutching, anti-socialness, and all that. With his lack of knowledge about how to care for others and less than stable mental health, he accidentally killed his cat either directly or indirectly. And that's so fucking sad. Think about it -- being so out of touch with the warmth and comfort of love but also being too scared of the painful scars it'll leave if it goes wrong then the only person- no, not person- the only damn _living thing_ you ever wanted to atleast try to love dies by your hands. Like, fuck, his reaction to this realization 2:56 just... just makes it so much sadder. There's this look of desperation that screams _you're lying- it can't be- NO._ Imagine a family member hiding the fact they were very ill until they finally told you about it only just before they died. It's that kind of pain but worse because he realizes that it's _his fault._ That it's his fault the only person-- only fucking thing capable of loving him died because of him and I _hate_ that. Maybe he'll learn to love properly after this, but he'll never get over not having loved the first one who's ever loved him and that... hurts.
Wow i was just gonna skip past this song but then reading an explanation on the comments made me cry after rewatching it. I have a dog and 2 cats and its sometimes hard for me to look after them my brother is the one who usually looks after them since i get extremely tired and also suffer from a depression and anxiety. He wakes up earlier and feeds them even though he has a mental disability he still does these things that I would have trouble doing. He's much older than me but has a mind of a 12yr old and even looks like one. This really hit to close to home

Using my limited Japanese; The name of the song is partially in Katakana which refers to names of Ai and Aru. Ai in japanese means love. But since its in katakana, we can probably assume it is referring to the name Ai and Aru.

What I think happened is this:
1) The guy tried to commit suicide (judging by the noose like rope/scarf around his neck at the end), but he entered a kind of limbo just before death
2) His cat appears in the form of a spirit, stopping him from dying somehow
3) So when we first hear the chorus 'I just mistakenly want to believe that you loved me', it seems like the guy questioning why the cat spirit is trying to prolong his suffering, and the guy is also assuming that those words are coming from him. (In fact they may be alternating, as the colours of the lyrics switch from red to white, indicating the cat and the guy respectively)
4) But in reality, it's the cat who is dying of starvation or neglect or maybe trading its life for the guy's, and he is actually the one singing in the last chorus
5) 2:48 is when the guy realises that the song was the CAT asking why he didn't love him enough to stay alive for him, and now the cat was dying for him or because of him, hence the cat saying 'I'm the one coughing up blood!'
6) This causes the guy to flip out as he cradles the dying cat spirit, but it's too late.
- The final line of lyrics in white are supposed to be from the guy. He doesn't finish it: 'our love was just me mistakenly wanting to believe', but maybe what it would have said was 'that I loved you'
7) He wakes up in reality, alive now because of the cat, but now the cat is dead.

So..Here some theories i found
The demon’s design and concept is probably based off cat youkai’s (Japanese demons/spirits) such as the nekomata or bakeneko, youkai’s that were previously a cat before transformation.Bakeneko’s are often said to wear napkins or cloths on their heads. This is probably why the demon design has him wearing a sort of cloth on his head.
There are 2 characters in this PV who are confirmed by their creators WOOMA and Niru Kaijtsu to be named:
Aru (left, the demon/ghost) and Ai (right, the white haired boy).
Ai was someone who suffered from depression and was living at a very low point in his life. His only friend at the time was his pet, his cat, Aru
Ai tried to commit suicidefirst, even tho he failed, he still passed out. And so by Ai “killing” himself, Aru thought that his owner “left” him and that he actually never loved him. Aru felt betrayed but Aru still wanted to (mistakenly) believe that Ai did love him so he stays in the room with Ai until he wakes up and “comes back”, however Aru dies of hunger first. He then torments Ai in his dreams as a vengeful ghost until Ai realizes what he’s done to him.
Personally, I think that it would make more sense if Ai had (accidentally) killed Aru with his own hands first then committed suicide afterwards. His breakdown at 2:55 and his guilt would make much more sense that way, but it’s still interesting to theorize on who died first and how.
In conclusion, I think they’re both in a “misunderstanding” because Ai believed Aru didn’t love him due to his mental illness and Aru’s behavior as a cat/the fact that he can’t speak or openly show affection. Aru believed Ai didn’t love him because of his abusive behavior and the fact that he killed him in the end.

I love how after you Heard miy_yuu's version, you feel Like the original is just lacking so much (action etc.) and is really dull (compared to his Covers) Especially at the "chi haita no wa sa" (2:56) it builds up action and then just "bursts Out", as i would say. Miy_yuu is an incredible Singer and wooma is an great artist, i would love to hear more of his covers with wooma making the PV! (I really love wooma's artstyle, and in combination with miy_yuu's voice its just perfect, also, taringtajams subtitles shouldnt be missing, They're amazing!)

I feel like this is a story about a neglectful lover, and their slow decent into despising their own lover and becoming physically abusive.
First we can tell that he doesn't actually love this cat looking girl, because of one of the first lines in the song. 'I wanted to mistakenly believe that you loved me' which makes me think the boy is in love with the idea of being love.
The girl is represented as a cat/cat looking human. Cats, and pets in general, are known for being dependent on their owners. For food, water, but most importantly, affection. Cats are also known for being prideful and self centered. But it mostly comes from wanting affection, something that is needed in a loving relationship. But as we can see, the boy isn't a good pet owner, he's and alcoholic, his room is a mess, and he seems indifferent to our cat girl. Going by this we can determine that he probably doesn't care about himself or his living space, which he shares with his cat/girlfriend. So we can assume that he doesn't care about his lovers living space, or his lover.
By the end the cat has been bugging him for so long that he lashes out, thus the 'blood is coming from my mouth' line that the cat lady says.
And by the time we get to the end, the cat has died. With blood splattered around it. This can have three different meanings, one: he killed the girlfriend in the mouth blood injury (or she killed herself.) . two, the girl has stopped caring and is now a shadow of her former self, a 'corpse' of sorts. Or three, the girl has left him, leaving a decaying memory for him to deal with.

A bit late but let me add my two cents into this. The lover that looks like a cat also resembles a jiangshi, a chinese zombie/vampire. At first viewing, I saw it as the lover being abusive to the white haired guy and draining him mentally and exhausting him with insulting, lowering his self esteem, similar to how jiangshi drain the life energy or blood out of their victims. By making the lover as jiangshi it adds on to the aspect of your theory that he killed her or killed herself and came back as a reanimated corpse to haunt him. Also visually the lover looks stiff and constantly t posing our main character like how a jiangshi moves. Idk about the actual cat tho. I think its symbolic rather than him actually owning a cat and killing it.

I really, really do love it when people build up a song to an amazing climax. It's often upsetting when they change up things with the bridge but the last chorus doesn't feeling fulfilling at all.
I love the soft drop to 2:47 and you just know it's the "calm before the storm." What he did with 2:55 is a whole new level of satisfaction. It truly evokes something, some emotion, when you hear it. I love it so much.

I think the song is about a man who took in a stray cat, and even though he fed her, gave her shelter, tried to love her, she was still aggressive. One night, maybe after a drinking binge or a bout of drugs, he smashed the bathroom mirror and the shards killed the cat. The end of the video I think shows he tried to hang himself after that but the rope snapped (that or he's wearing the world's worst scarf).

I really like how at the very end of the video the man wakes up and he has the colors of the cat. Like the way the ominous looking window from before now has a feeling of hope instead of the anguish and regret from the scene just a moment before he wakes up. Idk it feels like the cat is living through the man now and there’s no ill will despite what happened. It just hits different I can’t really explain it

This is so sad. The theory I believe makes me so sad oh my god.
We can see that Ai (white haired guy) has (implied) smoking and drinking problems which is likely his way of coping through the (also implied) way he's either shunned by society or has problems and difficulties with socializing. In the theory I believe, he depended on his cat too much. Being so deprived of contact with other people and lacking so much experience, his cat was all that he had but he didn't know how to love it.
I think it's also very obvious that his mental health isn't really good with the addictions, head clutching, anti-socialness, and all that. With his lack of knowledge about how to care for others and less than stable mental health, he accidentally killed his cat either directly or indirectly.
And that's so fucking sad.
Think about it -- being so out of touch with the warmth and comfort of love but also being too scared of the painful scars it'll leave if it goes wrong then the only person- no, not person- the only damn _living thing_ you ever wanted to atleast try to love dies by your hands.
Like, fuck, his reaction to this realization 2:56 just... just makes it so much sadder. There's this look of desperation that screams _you're lying- it can't be- NO._ Imagine a family member hiding the fact they were very ill until they finally told you about it only just before they died. It's that kind of pain but worse because he realizes that it's _his fault._ That it's his fault the only person-- only fucking thing capable of loving him died because of him and I _hate_ that.
Maybe he'll learn to love properly after this, but he'll never get over not having loved the first one who's ever loved him and that... hurts.

Wow i was just gonna skip past this song but then reading an explanation on the comments made me cry after rewatching it. I have a dog and 2 cats and its sometimes hard for me to look after them my brother is the one who usually looks after them since i get extremely tired and also suffer from a depression and anxiety. He wakes up earlier and feeds them even though he has a mental disability he still does these things that I would have trouble doing. He's much older than me but has a mind of a 12yr old and even looks like one. This really hit to close to home
