Having her face turn to her grin from before soon as Clay's back was turned would have implied there wasn't any genuine worry there. It could be that she was surprised that Clay was really willing to put herself in such danger to give her a chance at freedom, too, but I think just the same she was worried about her and hoped for her safety.
I think, it's because that's what Clay wanted, she knows she's being tricked, but she likes to think Kalmia did not, so that's why Kalmia did, it's an act of empathy, one last act of pity for Clay.

This makes me feel feelings. When I was younger I was obsessed with this song. It probably had something to do with me relating to Clay and wanting to love someone as much as she loved Kalmia. The younger me also thought that Kalmia was incredibly pretty. Not much has changed. I think, it's because that's what Clay wanted, she knows she's being tricked, but she likes to think Kalmia did not, so that's why Kalmia did, it's an act of empathy, one last act of pity for Clay.

In my opinion that part reveal a part of her "old" self, the person inside her that still know right and wrong and at that exact moment she realize what she's about to do to Clay. But in the end, they still proceed with the plan, her cunning smile at the end show who she really is now, even if there is a part of guilt, she cannot turn back to the one she were and now embrace her new self, showing Clay who she really am now (due to her tragic past). And Clay knew it but doesn't care, she still want to sacrifice (hence the smile behind prison bars at the end).
So in the end, Kalmia is both a victim and a criminal. the worry eyes not justify her action, but to show the viewers that the fragment of innocence from her old self still exists and burst out in only a moment, so she is not a devil like villains in black and white show. Everything is gray and the true evil is this cruel world that twists people into being so, that made Kalmia unable to be innocent again.

This makes me feel feelings. When I was younger I was obsessed with this song. It probably had something to do with me relating to Clay and wanting to love someone as much as she loved Kalmia. The younger me also thought that Kalmia was incredibly pretty. Not much has changed. I was a bit afraid to make this comment as it feels personal, but, anyway, it's an awesome cover of a really good song.
The fact that Clay's holding a cross as her younger self makes me think she probably saw Kalmia when they were hiding in the church and before she was captured.
