*I have a 2005 Ford Taurus that stopped going forward and reverse when I make any shift on the shifter the car accelerates a little but doesn't make any movement. Could it be the torque converter? or it could be the Neutral Safety Switch*
How many driven miles on your tortis? If you select the park on the gear shifter, does the car still roll? If so, definitely torque converter. This happened on my mom's 05 Taurus when accelerating onto the freeway during a transmission controlled downshift bang, then nothing. Is we replaced the park converter and then it worked fine again. The stock torque converter was laid of substandard metal, and the spine stripped out torque converter only, not transmission input shaft. Difficult part is there are many different types of torque converters for the same car. You're pretty much going to need to remove the torque converter and get the #s off of it before you can order a new one. This happened on the tortise at very low mileage. However, After replacing the converter, what's one of higher quality? And additional sixty thousand miles have been put on the car without incident. Happy motoring!

No noise or anything, they just left it parked. at night and the next day I didn't want to move anymore, I looked on O'Reilly for a remanufactured converter, I just wanted to know if the axle bar that goes in the middle needs to be changed or not.*
Got a question. My ford taurus 2006 50 k miles( its not taken on long road trips )started making a chirping noise on the drivers side. A reputable mechanic said iits something in transmission between a plexi something but he said trans is going out. No leaks. no problems. No lights coming on justs a chirp.serpintine belt replaced and a pulley but the noise never left. But a trans going out at 50 k? This car has been babied. Its 2021 the car was taken to every appointment for upkeep. Keep in a garage at nice temp. Warranty is out due to time related but can Ford company be called for a bad transmission?
Drive it safely until it fails. I am only speculating however it will prevent your car from going safely down the road when the torque converter teeth strip out and ot shear off.. BTW you will have no forward reverse or park once this happens. It will likely take place when you are entering the freeway or passing another vehicle as it will downshift from OD to third gear. If its the 3.0 Vulcan (not DOHC) one thing to definately check is the camshaft synchronizer. I can't say for certain that that is your problem as it will have to be diagnosed. Its well-known to wear out its upper bearing in the 3.0 vulcans and cause a chirping sound that sounds like a squeaking belt. They aren't too expensive and should be easy for a mechanic to change out.
Yes I did it on my moms car it is the problem for sure if you can shift it and the linkage is broken, but it will not move. She punched entering the freeway way and bang @ a low mileage too. Worked great after it was replaced and it is still running well today.

My 2002 Taurus doesn't move same any gear you think it can be the band inside the transmission Or the range selector on the transmission or the torcq converter If I increase the rpm while in gear I can get the transmission to connect and actually drive that's the hope I can still do it it did this to get me home drove nice then again went to neutral no movement at all I wonder what this cost to repair ?

Check your shift cable, does it roll away in park?
