Wherever it is, it gets occupied by street vendors and people park their bikes there. The fence is damaged by stupid car drivers and it becomes impossible to use a cycle on these lanes.
I cycle 19(9.5+9.5)km everyday to my duty, except when I am highly urgent or exhausted in Delhi, sometimes even in the afternoon. I find it very relaxing, traffic friendly, economically sound and environment friendly, except sometimes I am scared of rash drivers. I find in Delhi, people use personal car or motorcycles or public transport everyday even for 3/4 km. I think upto a distance of 30 up and down, we can easily use bicycles and can save this City.

Great initiative! We have a community in mumbai as well. Cycling to work is indeed the ideal way to commute. Pre lockdown I used to cycle to work 5 times a week from Dombivli, Kalyan to Goregaon, Mumbai which is almost 45+ km so it was a round trip of 90+ km daily. Still miss my rides as we are working from home 😔

Do not leave the house without your helmet, glasses (protects your eyes from dust), face shields. 2.Try wearing a knee pad or elbow pad for safety purpose. 3.when you ride always remember commuting is for leisure purpose and not sporting, ride always on the left side. 4.you either have a car,bike you reach the destination at the same time that makes you frustrated, so riding slowly or in a layman term Aram se. You will reach your destination with ease and peacefully at approx same time. 5. And most important of all Stay at home and get back on track when the situation is calm. Thanks tc

I started using bicycle for commuting to work for last year or so for atleast 2 days a week Downside is.. You get all sweaty by the time you get back to work but use of deodorant makes it bearable for rest of day It is risky to cycle your way through crowded city roads which tend to become wider and smaller with sudden surge in traffic.Motor bikers are notorious for cutting your lanes and driving rashly. Cutting you while you are negotiating upward incline makes you lose momentum and your temper too:-)
The government is not going to support anything modern. But companies can. They should give people who bike to work some appreciation. Maybe give them less time to work as a form of perk. That’s how they can make it happen.

I'm a cyclist in another small city in northern Karnataka. Its good to see cycling becoming popular, but it shouldn't be a temporary trend. It solves all our problems irrespective of people's economic class. But it just scares me sometimes to not be aware of my surroundings because I've been hit several times by motorbikes.
Cycles aren't worth it. You don't want to reach your office drenched in sweat. An e-bike is much better. You don't have to do much physical cycling while going to office but you can cycle while returning home which will also act as exercise.
It surely is not an excuse, I travel from a relatively larger distance, and I do sweat, but I keep another set of clothes in my bag just for that. Problem solved.
This is absolutely true. Bicycles are the fastest way to commute in a crowded Indian City. It takes me 25 minutes to cover a distance of 8 kms in Chennai during peak traffic and the same takes me 30 odd minutes in a motorcycle and 40 minutes in a car. The only downside is that one sweats like Varuna Bagawan has blessed him :p But again electric bicycles are pretty useful in these circumstances

There have to he a proper protected footpaths everywhere and cycle lanes,not just one or two,a whole network in the parts of cities,then only people will feel the needs of cycles and easy journey . Talking about vehicles,there have to be proper protected electric chargers with charging bays in the cities and electric buses, CBG buses must run in all parts .
Most of the people do not tend to cycle as it is an adventure sport in India, due to traffic norms. There is data available on routes, why not start with developing that road on which they drive on first.
If you observe the traffic, the major problem behind is not alone the rise in the vehicle quantity, but also the fall in passengers quantity. The other guy in the video travelled in a 7 Seater Innova only along with his driver. people, who are Low-level earners, they hardly travel by public transport. People who are mediumly earning will have their two-wheelers. But, most of the people who can afford a car for daily use are actually travelling alone in a car. Although Bangalore citizens do share their ride, yet the quantity of passengers travelling is really less. The same situation we are facing in Hyderabad. At peak hours, I can see an employee enjoying his ride in a Sedan/Compact SUV/SUV travelling alone. These people occupy the place of at least 3 Two-wheelers. This is leading to huge traffic. The government and IT companies should look into this. Instead of giving Cab facilities alone to employees, they should give the same amount to employees who offer other employees a ride to their home. This will help in Reduction in travel expenditure and may help in the increase of teamwork too. While people nearby can still use a bicycle just like he advised.

There have to he a proper protected footpaths everywhere and cycle lanes,not just one or two,a whole network in the parts of cities,then only people will feel the needs of cycles and easy journey .
Talking about vehicles,there have to be proper protected electric chargers with charging bays in the cities and electric buses, CBG buses must run in all parts .

Most of the people do not tend to cycle as it is an adventure sport in India, due to traffic norms. There is data available on routes, why not start with developing that road on which they drive on first.

If you observe the traffic, the major problem behind is not alone the rise in the vehicle quantity, but also the fall in passengers quantity. The other guy in the video travelled in a 7 Seater Innova only along with his driver. people, who are Low-level earners, they hardly travel by public transport. People who are mediumly earning will have their two-wheelers. But, most of the people who can afford a car for daily use are actually travelling alone in a car. Although Bangalore citizens do share their ride, yet the quantity of passengers travelling is really less. The same situation we are facing in Hyderabad. At peak hours, I can see an employee enjoying his ride in a Sedan/Compact SUV/SUV travelling alone. These people occupy the place of at least 3 Two-wheelers. This is leading to huge traffic. The government and IT companies should look into this. Instead of giving Cab facilities alone to employees, they should give the same amount to employees who offer other employees a ride to their home. This will help in Reduction in travel expenditure and may help in the increase of teamwork too. While people nearby can still use a bicycle just like he advised.

Separate bike lane is totally a flop move. It’s only applicable in low intensity traffic zones and India is a country where u find a ratio of 5:1 between high and low intensity traffic roads.
