I love you so much that when my husband calls home on his break, he asks if I 'went to the homestead' yet 😂😂 THEN he wants to know what I'm making today, lol.
Amazon sells essential oil stickers that are round so you can place them on the tops of your oils. They come with blank ones so you can write your combo scents or less popular scent names yourself. Makes life sooooo much easier when looking for the scent you want.
I live in a cheap apartment complex. (moving soon) It often has questionable tenants. So we've had issues with bed bugs, cockroaches, mice and spiders. As soon as I found that out I did some heavy research on what (scientifically) would be a deterrent for most of them. Bed bugs being the only ones immune to e.o's so for them I bought diatomaceous earth for prevention and killing, just in case. But for the rest of them I used witch hazel and water as my base and then added Peppermint 20 drops (for mice), oregano (for cockroaches: deterrent and will kill them), and then for spiders and other bugs I use eucalyptus, lavender, citrus, camphor, pine or ceder. I've lived here for 4 years. I occasionally see a cockroach, but usually only when next door tenants are moving out. And a quick spray on the base of the wall and in the cupboards on the wall that connects the apartment is enough to not see them again for a long time. I spray around doors, windows, connection walls, in cupboards, under the stove and refrigerator and in my baseboards. The mice problem in this complex is crazy and they use poison. I have indoor cats and they keep them to a minimum but the peppermint really keeps them gone. I also grow peppermint in the garden next to my house. It's good revenge for ghetto landlords who don't maintain their properties well. It will be here forever. 😁 I'm on of the few apartments that's never had to be "exterminated" for any pests. And considering how often they come.... I've used this "bug/mice" spray for years and I've yet to have an issue with pests. Plus my house has a minty, herby smell that I love.
This is awesome! I worked in property management for years and totally get the pest issues people get due to the people around them. I would always give people ideas like yours to use when they needed help. I happy you figured out a way to make it work for you. We lived in a small apartment like the one you are describing. We said we would be there for 1 year and ended up there for 7 years.
Let’s be honest, first of all we’re here for your ranting and secondly for the recipes and awesome tips! 😅 I am sure a lot of your viewers wish they had you as their neighbor or best friend! … I know, I do!! ❤
This is basically the same recipe as my toilet spray. The amounts are 2 parts water, 1 part alcohol, 20 drops of essential oils. Spray in the toilet before a number 2 to keep it from making the bathroom stink.
I have purchased essential oil lid stickers on Amazon, and love them. I then keep my essential oils (5mm, 10mm, 15mm) in a Plano clear plastic tackle box I bought at Menards in the tool box area. They have four rows and then have little dividers you can place in them to make sections. Just make sure they are tall enough to hold your EO bottles. The original reason I used these to keep my EOs in was that I had Make & Take parties at my house, and I wanted to be able to carry them from place to place and I could put them in alphabetical order so they were easy for everyone to find the oil they were looking for.
I LOVE your channel...all of your recipes, & most of all, how real you are!! Thanks for sharing your real life, holes in the sofa & all!! I raised a lamb in my house, from 3 days old to over 6 months old. You can only imagine the damage & messes that that little creature made! But, I love him & that's real life at my house. It's not for everyone, but it's for me! 🙂 Thanks for ALL that you do for your viewers! ❤️
Alcohol is a sanitizer. I use it in my kitchen all the time. I use diluted 70% with distilled water and a drop of dawn. Use it every day to clean my granite counter tops.
I have asthma and struggle at work with people spraying febreeze and wearing strong laundry detergent. It literally makes my throat and lungs burn. I feel so sick and get an instant headache. Thank you for all that you do. I wish I couldn’t smell at times.
I can't use Fabreez or any Lysol products.I get a horrible headache every time I use them. I have made my own discenfectent Air and cleaning sprays for years now.Im so happy that you are sharing this with your viewers. I just found your channel and am really enjoying all the little tips and natura homemade l stuff You are making and showing on your channel. And thank you so much for sharing your real life with people. Everyone needs to see that most of us are just hard working people who are living are lives and sharing our experiences to help others out and their is not one of us on this planet who is better than the next.So thank you for going out of your way to show people an example of how you should not put anyone on a pedestal and that we are all trying to get through this thing called life. Really enjoying your channel keep sharing and God bless you and your's.
I would recommend only 100% pure, or, organic essential oils (as they are usually steam extracted, & some are hot oil-extracted) - the ones available at the cheap stores (I'm in Australia, so I don't know how it is in America) are just 'fragrance oils'- fit for oil burners, & craftwork only {they also say in making scented candles, but I'm not so sure}: with these oils, chemical solvents are used to extract the oils from the plant material, & traces potentially linger in the end-product (this is apparently a 'cheaper' extraction method than the other two- which is why fragrance oils can be mass produced, & essential oils have much greater variance in price & sizes of bottles)- which is why cheap oil brands like our SweetScents, Jemark 'Essential Oils', or the generic KMart/ Target ones, have disclaimers on their packaging/ bottles- that they're _not for therapeutic use_ , _not to be taken_ , &/ or _not recommended for use on the skin_ - whereas most* essential oils only need to be mixed with a suitable carrier oil- like sweet almond oil, or fractionated coconut oil- to be rendered skin safe. * Lavender's virtually the only essential oil that can be used directly on the skin, without a carrier (ironically, my cousin's wife is allergic to lavender, so my mother substitutes Ylang Ylang for her, instead) -- you should **always** double-check an individual's needs/ situation when it comes to certain oils; some oils are not safe for the pregnant, or epileptics/ people prone to seizures.
I lol'd at the comments regarding using kitchen items for making cleaners😂First, if you are using food-grade ingredients, it is not a problem. It may not taste good, but it won't cause a problem. Second, what do you think people did back when they had to make things because there were no stores nearby? They certainly didn't have multiples of items. The same concoction that cleaned the dishes cleaned your body and your clothes. A thorough cleaning will take care of it. That being said, I buy mixing bowls and whatnot at the thrift store for making things in. I haven't always been able to, but I currently can't make the products AND clean everything before I need to cook a meal, so I had to adapt.
For Sofa's, my husband has had this leather sofa and love seat for YEARS! Yes, wet dogs from the ranch on it....Years. Now, it's looking a bit worn, especially on the seats BUT it's an investment that's worth it. My Mom recommended the LoveSac for her clients with young children and pets!
One warning: using essential oils each day made my dog sick. There are just a few that are considered "pet safe". Some pets do ok, but many do not. Citrus messes with dogs digestion, for example, and my dog vomited after being around orange and peppermint oil for a bit. It was an expensive trip to the vet. 😢 Lavendar is supposed to be safe, but please do your research to keep your pets SAFE!
Can't get enough of your videos. Absolutely love you and your hubby. Just made this booster, and I am SO happy to be saving on this. Everything keeps going up in prices, and your videos are so helpful. Can't wait to try the room spray and laundry detergent! Your cooking recipes are how I found you, and I have made several. I haven't been disappointed yet! Thank you for being so real. It's like hanging out with family. ❤️💯
I know this comment is a month late. But I have the Juliana sectional from American Furniture Warehouse. It's a beautiful gray with patterned pillows and it's so, so comfy! I had to sleep on it for two weeks when I broke my leg and couldn't scale the stairs to the bedroom. It's microfiber, super easy to vacuum off dog hair (I have a border collie and german shepherd, so LOTS of hair). And I shampoo it once a month and treat it with scotchgard to prevent stains. It's a great couch!
Thank you! I’ll check it out. We ended up needing a new roof after the hurricane and no insurance help so the couches got pushed off for now. Thanks for the advice. Hope you leg is healing well.
OMG I’m so happy I found you! You’re SO me!!! I just found your channel and I crack up all the time! I have a bunch of essential oils…..and I never learned how to use them! Mine are DoTerra….I’ve heard you have to be careful with EO’s but if it smells good…..USE IT! LOL! I have couches that are bad……almost worse than yours….Mine went through 3 grandkids….we need a complete house remodel! LOL! I wish you were my neighbor!!! ❤❤❤
Hey my couches suck to but no one would know cause i have multiple sets of slip covers. 😏 Bonus i can change up the look of my living room whenever I want.
Look in high end auction or second hand shops.i have raised mastiff, great Danes and bullmastiff for 45 years.the heavy damice Thomasville is the best.on the sit lay cargo blankets for the fur babies remove for company.
Hey Allie you using rubbing alcohol reminding me of this but you can also use water and alcohol to put in your windshield wipers. I've been doing it for about 2 years or so and I think it works better than the stuff you get at the store and is a heck of a lot cheaper.
OMG!!! I love you! You make me laugh so much. Why you say…..because you are REAL! I’ve said it to myself for years….what you see in a video is what it meant to be seen but that doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. There’s no such thing as perfect just perfect for YOU. I think people forget that people that have channels are still human like the people watching. I found your channel because it popped up in my feed. Your channel is what I look for. LOVE the content. Keep doing you girl. Tfs. Have a wonderful weekend.🤗
Thank you so much for your channel and for sharing your recipes with us.❤ as for couches (and dogs) we get a “new” couch every few years. From thrift stores.😱 I know. Cooties, bedbugs, etc. We’ve done this for the last 4 or 5 couches, and we’ve never had a problem. So far. Plus the occasional couch or chair from the mother-in-law who replaces furniture like you wouldn’t believe. Back to thrift stores. Often the couches they have are actually new donations from stores. Sometimes still have tags or stickers on them. Anyway, of course we only buy very clean-looking pieces. We have always had dogs. Usually 3 at a time. And cats. They have ruined many a chair. If leather can’t stand up to them, nothing can.
I love your videos! Thanks Alli for these recipes. I don’t have many essential oils so the recipes can be challenging, but I’ll eventually be able to make some of the recipes you’ve shared for laundry, fabric softener and febreze. Thanks Alli.
Draw a line on your bottle for your measurements. That way you’re not using your food cups and less dishes. Then add your drops in the bottle and shake
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa I looked up witch hazel and it says to not inhale vapors. There must be something similar that is safer. I love your idea and would love to make this. I am super sensitive to sprays and my daughter is even more sensitive than me. I have to be careful even in what dish soap I use. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! My questions are, would you need something to blend the water and essential oils together to keep it from separating since oil and water don't mix? Wouldn't think the alcohol would? With using water, wouldn't you need a preservative to keep it from growing mold and bacteria? Sorry, I'm learning. I'm a bath and products diy maker and I've learned some of this when I started out. Didn't know if it was different since your spray isn't for the skin. Thanks!
I just made the airfreshner you showed earlier in the year, and it is fabulous! I had a candle years ago that I loved and no longer can get. It's a holiday scent and I used pine, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of orange essential oils and it it very close to the scent. Just have to perfect the amounts. Thank you so much for your videos!
I usually go do some google searching to see what combos make what I’m looking for. For fall I tend to go leafy scents or spices. I love cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg with a little vanilla or you can do something like sage, cedar wood, orange, cinnamon and vanilla. It’s a woody marshmallow vibe.
If you have an American Furniture Warehouse, they have a sectional couch that's amazing. You can buy however many pieces you want & they link together. We weren't big on sectional couches, but this you can customize. It's called Cambridge Home. We have a Husky & boys, and this couch has held up.
You crack me up! Info is good too! Laugh while you learn-the best way to get people to pay attention! Etsy had some beautiful wood essential oil cabinets that were almost like a jewelry box last Xmas. My nephew’s wife has a shallow wood framed box (shadow box like only shallow) on the wall that holds at least 25 bottles ….sounds like a new project!
I love love love your rants. Yeah. Kinda like hanging on the phone with the boyfriend and laying on the floor under the phone cuz that’s how far the cord would go and the cord was all tangled from the pulling on it and when you get excited about what you’re talking about your fingers twirl in the already tangled cord and you tangle it even more and it twists around itself and then when your mother is taking to on the phone the next day she wants to know who tangled up the cord cuz she can’t wash the dishes and talk to Aunt Mary. That.
We had those couches as well. Lots of wears and tears on them from 5 kids. Now I have my Moms old couch and it smells like old people, so I appreciate the room spray recipe !!!!! Your house is lovely and I appreciate your real moments. You are my favourite. Sending a big hello from Canada.
Find a goodwill in a nicer area and shop for furniture there. This way if pets destroy it cost a fraction of the price to replace. Also, if they're too expensive at one, try another.
Hello, new sub! I started watching the laundry series and when you mentioned safe for septic, I was like, Yes. We are building our next home on 10 acres!! Super excited. Still so much to learn and You are teaching. I am in SoCal💙 Anywho, talk about rant, I'm there with you😅. MY question is, lol, what strength alcohol do you use and, can I use vodka instead? Have leftover from parties and what better way to use it!
I am definitely going to make this!! You are so sweet and funny then just throw hubby in! That is hilarious! You are true and honest which is tops for me!! Don’t want you to change!!
Thank you for the scent combination suggestions! My sister lives in Europe where the vodka is super cheap. She uses a combo like this to clean everything in her home except she uses vodka instead of rubbing alcohol.
I’m glad you said something about using glass bottles as I once made the mistake of using a plastic bottle with an essential oil and water for a bug repellant and the oil actually started to damage the plastic. Will have to try this dupe out as it sounds like it will be much better to use around the house!
I’m so happy I stumbled across your page, I love watching you and your rants lol your content is so interesting to me. Thank you for sharing your oil blends. I never knew how to blend oils together and still don’t but your helping.🎉
You are so funny. I love watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the oils. I want to try and make some of your sprays and laundry soaps. Thanks for your help. Have a good day.
Love your videos, especially when you do a series like laundry. I've been using Simply Earth essential oils for years. They are pure and reasonable priced. I'm going to check out Frannie's also. Thanks again for the information and love your rants, keep it up.
Keepin it real and I love it! I’m appreciating your laundry videos and now this one! Don’t stop ranting.... and tell hubs we’re waiting for that scalloped pot. recipe! Enjoy your weekend...🌴💖🇺🇸
I definitely asked you about this 😁, so thank you. I watch cleaning motivational videos so I know about real life 😆. One smell I like is lavender and peppermint.
I keep my EOs two ways: An adjustable wooden spice rack that adjusts to how many bottles you have and is "stadium-seat" style, allowing you to see all the labels (available on Amazon or Walmart), OR a nail polish holder that is mounted on the wall. Mine is "Tree of Life" shaped and gorgeous. Sadly, it's a much tighter fit than the spice rack, but it doesn't allow for any bottle-tipping.
I’ve just recently found your videos. I’m enjoying immensely ❤. A recommendation on couches. Mayo furniture. It wasn’t cheap, real leather and have had it 12 years. We’ve raised sons, have 5 grandkids and we “live hard” in our home. 😅 It’s holding up beautifully. I found a local furniture store that sold the brand and ordered. It’s made in Texas which was a plus as well. I’m off to make some room spray, thanks for the “recipe”!
I love you so much that when my husband calls home on his break, he asks if I 'went to the homestead' yet 😂😂 THEN he wants to know what I'm making today, lol.
That’s cute ❤
Aww, you guys are too sweet. I love this and both of you.
😅😂
It's good revenge for ghetto landlords who don't maintain their properties well. It will be here forever. 😁 I'm on of the few apartments that's never had to be "exterminated" for any pests.
I love just orange and bergamot together.
You can buy small white sticker dots and write the oil name on them and stick to the bottle lid.
I have two upholstery shredders, aka cats.
Ha ha!!! 😂
Does anyone else click the like button as soon as the video starts😂😂😂😂
Thank you!!!! ☺️
Yep I know it’s gonna be good. 😂

LOL... The ad that popped up first was Febreeze vs Lysol! I have always made my own without chemicals and you always make the best solutions! ❤️😎
I love that they choose that junk for me. What the heck!!!
I love your honesty and sweetness. Thank you for your videos
You are so welcome!
I love Frankincense and Myrrh.

Vodka or ever clear works as well as isopropyl alcohol.

Thanks so much for the list of mixed of EO's. That' a great reference. need a new combo? Just go listen to you for a little chat and pick a new one.

You can make all of them without the oils and they will just be unscented.
What about pet friendly essential oils? Some are said to be toxic to pets...?
Ammonia works great for bites also. I use it for ant bites.
Good to know!
Badcock is going out of business. You maybe able to get a great deal on a couch. Love your videos
I hadn’t heard that. We have one not too far away I’m pretty sure.
You are crazy too much, But I love it!! I.m gathering gifts for a Christmas basket. So much fun!!!!
I am new to your channel and are liking this series. Can I put it in a metal bottle vs. glass? I have some clumsy people.
Sure!
Draw a line on your bottle for your measurements. That way you’re not using your food cups and less dishes. Then add your drops in the bottle and shake
Alcohol makes a great food safe cleaner for kitchens.
Is there something else you could use instead of rubbing alcohol? I've read that you should never spray it. I love this idea, though!
I will have to look into that. You can also use witch hazel.
Thanks!
💗
Thanks for sharing! My questions are, would you need something to blend the water and essential oils together to keep it from separating since oil and water don't mix? Wouldn't think the alcohol would? With using water, wouldn't you need a preservative to keep it from growing mold and bacteria? Sorry, I'm learning. I'm a bath and products diy maker and I've learned some of this when I started out. Didn't know if it was different since your spray isn't for the skin. Thanks!
I just give it a good shake. I have had it under my sink for months and months with no issues
I used 70% rubbing alcohol and the scent is strong to me should I use less or more water? Other than that I like this idea.
More water to dilute and maybe a few more drops of oil. The alcohol just helps it stick but shouldn’t be overpowering
I love this!!! That sounds like an awesome combo. I’m so glad you like it.
I would love to make the fall scent, how many drops of each oil? I’m terrible with blending oils I’m never sure.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa thank you
Can you use candle making sents
Sure can!
I think costco makes good couches.
I’ve been eyeing a few there actually. Thanks!
If you have an American Furniture Warehouse, they have a sectional couch that's amazing. You can buy however many pieces you want & they link together. We weren't big on sectional couches, but this you can customize. It's called Cambridge Home. We have a Husky & boys, and this couch has held up.
I’ll check it out. I honestly don’t even know what we have nearby. We haven’t furniture shopped since we lived back in California.
couch - real leather has worked for us with many dogs over the years
Good to know! Thanks.
What strength of rubbing alcohol?
I think it was 50. I usually grab what’s on sale.
Old jewelry box idea is amazing! I need to go thrifting now 😂
New subscriber here🙋♀️ LOVE your rants, and truths!! goes to show your normal or what I call normal. Have a great weekend!!
Thanks for subbing! 😂
❤❤❤❤
Will you do a video on those stick diffusers? They can’t be too different from this and some of the other things that you’ve done. ❤
Yes I will
I love love love your rants.
That.
Ha ha, the cord!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Pachouli is completely offensive to me.
I have friends who love it.
Me too!
I love you, you guys are real and so much like my family! I enjoy all your videos and look forward to each one🥰
I love your videos. You are always so real in them and I love that.
Thank you so much!!
I am a new subscriber and I love your channel and you have a great personality, you fit right in here on you tube. 🙂👍
Thank you so much!☺️
We had those couches as well. Lots of wears and tears on them from 5 kids. Now I have my Moms old couch and it smells like old people, so I appreciate the room spray recipe !!!!!
Your house is lovely and I appreciate your real moments. You are my favourite. Sending a big hello from Canada.
Ha ha, I know that smell. One of my kids just moved to Canada near Toronto.
Omg…. So glad I’m not the only one with a trashed couch…..don’t want to get a new one either two dogs 🤪btw love your vintage blue jar collection
Booyah! Love the info and am learning more about essential oils! Thank you for the idea!
Find a goodwill in a nicer area and shop for furniture there. This way if pets destroy it cost a fraction of the price to replace. Also, if they're too expensive at one, try another.
lol, love you being human !!
I’d use leftover vodka for flavored extracts but you could use it for this as well. It would totally work.
Love my Berkey too!! Got my youngest son one too.
Great ideas! I avoid citrus because of the dog, it can be harmful to them.
Good tip!
I am definitely going to make this!! You are so sweet and funny then just throw hubby in! That is hilarious! You are true and honest which is tops for me!! Don’t want you to change!!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for the scent combination suggestions! My sister lives in Europe where the vodka is super cheap. She uses a combo like this to clean everything in her home except she uses vodka instead of rubbing alcohol.
I purchased the ProOne Filters for the water filtration.
I’m glad you said something about using glass bottles as I once made the mistake of using a plastic bottle with an essential oil and water for a bug repellant and the oil actually started to damage the plastic. Will have to try this dupe out as it sounds like it will be much better to use around the house!
Thanks so much for this. I really appreciate that you did this. I love all of your videos. You are living the life I always wanted to have.
You can do it!
Hi, I’m a new subscriber! Just wondering if your alcohol has to be a certain percentage? Thanks for your video ❤
I use rubbing alcohol.
I knew that. But they have different percentages like 70% or 91% or whatever else they sell?
Does the water have to be distilled??? Probably dumb question right?? Don't drive and would only use the water for this.....love all you do Thanx ❤❤
It doesn’t have to be. Totally use sink water just fine
I’m so happy I stumbled across your page, I love watching you and your rants lol your content is so interesting to me. Thank you for sharing your oil blends. I never knew how to blend oils together and still don’t but your helping.🎉
I love all those scents.
You are so funny. I love watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the oils. I want to try and make some of your sprays and laundry soaps. Thanks for your help. Have a good day.
Thank you so much!
Love your videos, especially when you do a series like laundry. I've been using Simply Earth essential oils for years. They are pure and reasonable priced. I'm going to check out Frannie's also. Thanks again for the information and love your rants, keep it up.
Love resident alien can’t wait for the new season. Great video.
Same here!
Badcock Furniture is going out of business. Check and see if one is in your area.
Great idea!
Cant wait to try this..thanku ..have a great weekend ❤
You too!!
Thanks so much!!!!❤
I keep my EOs two ways:
An adjustable wooden spice rack that adjusts to how many bottles you have and is "stadium-seat" style, allowing you to see all the labels (available on Amazon or Walmart), OR a nail polish holder that is mounted on the wall. Mine is "Tree of Life" shaped and gorgeous. Sadly, it's a much tighter fit than the spice rack, but it doesn't allow for any bottle-tipping.
I’ve read that essential oils can be harmful to pets so I’ve been afraid to use them. 😢
Certain ones can and certain are fine. Mostly citrus is the issue. I’ve never had a problem but look it up and the info is easy to find
Going to check them out now! Thanks for the info.
We love our berkey too
