This is the best “interview” I’ve seen with Lin full stop, it’s great to see him be able to say his complete thoughts as opposed to starting to say something only to get interrupted by the interviewer and moved on to a different topic.
I also love the one with Emma Watson in 2016, even though it was more of a conversation, you can tell he really was engaged in the back and forth intellectual discussion he was having with someone on a similar level as him.
There’s success and then there’s Hamilton... definitely didn’t happen overnight. I enjoyed hearing Lin Manuel talk about what inspired him, the early stages of his great storytelling and the struggles he had. I’m so excited for him, to have his show stream on Disney+ set to reach many, many more people. He so deserve this.
Every time I see Lin-Manuel being video interviewed, the background always looks like a normal person's house. After all of his success, he could easily be in some opulent home office with a view of his rolling estate out the window. But he genuinely seems grounded in his Inwood NY neighborhood, very close to Washington Heights. If you look up the neighborhood on Google, it's not some rich enclave with a wall around it. I would love to hear from him about adjusting to being a multi-millionaire and the simple choices he sees to make.
I felt the same way about "Under the Sea!" I was an adult, and I was with other adults in a room full of small kids. We applauded at the end of the number in the movie theater!
Lin is probably my biggest inspiration in writing. The way he talks about the process, the passion that's involved, the struggles he went through, I can relate to almost everything. I'm a junior in high school, Brazilian immigrant, and writing is my passion, but there's always that uncertainty in the back of my head of "can I make a living doing the thing I love?" I'm only in the beginning of my journey and I hope one day I get to accomplish half the things Lin accomplished. I come back to him whenever I need support, inspiration, or comfort, and he never fails to give me that. Anyway, hope this journey is a good one. Wish me luck, guys 🤞🤞
Lin's art is one of the best things i've ever seen. His songs are masterpieces.Sure, sometimes he rhymes Island with Island 4 times...😂But in general his lyrics are amazing,i've heard almost all of his songs and they're incredible. He's so creative with his writing, and i think in the end, that's all that matters.
Absolutely beautiful interview! Amazing, insightful questions and actually giving the interviewee space to express themselves and actually listening to their answers. A breath of fresh air, thank you!
To quote Tommy Kail from the other interview "Oh my god, you're so predictable". Knew Little Mermaid had to be on there somewhere before I even clicked on it xD
In this moment the stories are being told in the only medium that can speak- social media and thankfully Disney + release- being a Hamilton newcomer- totally and completely blown away.
Amen to bringing theatre to all cultures!!! I saw Hamilton in SF and marveled at the diversity on stage but it also struck me that the audience was 95% white. Bringing it to Disney hopefully will begin to change all that. It’s about access to all the levels of society.
i wonder if we will get to the story behind the story, in hamilton [ all the slaves that made their lives & successes possible] or in other ideas/situations.

+ I hear you, it is so wonderful to hear so many people be interviewed and able to give such deep and rich answers.

I would love to take a masterclass with him.
6 yrs to write this masterpiece. He works tirelessly and still stays humble and grounded. Cheers to Lin-Manuel!
Definitly!
Hamilton is a masterpiece. This conversation is a window into an amazing creative mind. It should have over 100k views.
I still cannot believe how Lin makes me cry with an interview. He is the most amazing human being ever.
"I wanted to move people like that" well, mission accomplished

Lin now: Tamatoa hasn't always been this glaaaam~

Lin-Manuel Miranda seems like an awesome person to be around.
This man is simply amazing. Loved hearing his answers to these well thought out questions.

Can't wait to see him in HDM series 2!
Some good advice here, especially when he talks about writing Hamilton and writing what he had - almost like a "rough draft"...great advice.
Excellent interview.

Well, if it's still working, why replace the earphones?
Does it really matter ????🤦🏾♀️
