Compared to other plastic model/weathering channels, Tom is a level up. You blink and you miss a few hours' worth of work. Such precision, detail and eye for real-life colours. And the result is not shiny... Amazing. Thanks Tom!
AWESOME! I was really into WWI 1/48 scale plane kits 15 years ago. I did this same kit. I wish I knew weathering back then. Consider carving your own propellers, looks so cool. Laminate 2 woods and carve. Easier than it sounds
Tom, I've just discovered your videos and I just want to say how fantastic they are. Wonderful, mesmerising to watch and very well executed. I have subscribed.
Most enjoyable to watch. And very informative. I've been wanting to do a video build but am still looking for a format. Yours is beautiful! Thanks for making it.
This caught my attention as a fan of pioneer aircraft. The Pfalz E I was a Morane-Saulnier Type H manufactured under license. It would be a fairly simple conversion to make this kit into a Morane-Saulnier Type H. That aircraft type made many important early flights. The Fokker E I was based on this aircraft, but the fuselage was modified and conversion is more difficult.
For me the main fun lies in the process of building and painting - the final model is some sort of "nice to have" ;-) Not to forget the educational aspect for me personally. Throughout these detailed cockpit structures I've learned a lot about old aircrafts. But you're right. I wish these details could be seen after assembling too...
A beautiful model, masterfully done. Now why make the at the end completely invisible internal rigging details is probably a question of someone who does not share the builder's joy of making such intricacies. I feel my hand and finger muscles cramped only by looking at these tiny things.
oh, that would be soooooo cool ;-) But I think my vids are too special for more audiences though. It's primarily some kind of playground for me and my filmings.. I'm glad you like.
you can make better silver -copper or steel like parts by buying from artist store patina wax based paint .you can rubb it on .its the best. i hope it helps.happy modelling
In my humble opinion, this is your best video so far. a true masterpiece 👍 would you be able to to show in more detail next time the process of how you achieved that beautiful wood colour effect? which paints did you used?
I'm glad you like it ;-) It might be a good idea to do an extra feature about wood effects. Ok, I'll have it in mind for one of my next vids... As a basecolour I use milspecs light brown colour and than work with some darker brown acrylics tones to get the wooden structure...
Absolutely magnificent. Tom Do you use a professional stop motion setup or do you just setup a shot and shoot? And how much time do you spend say for a 30sec clip?
Thanks for your kind words. I use a remote control software for my camera and assemble the pictures in After Effects together. With some kind of pre composed clips I finish my little clips with Adobe Premiere. The time I spend for assembling and composing depends on the model complexity. The Pfalz-clip took me appr. 2 month...
Sadly, stuck at work again. The up side is that it is Friday; feeling inspired for the weekend to finish that model that is sitting on the Hobby Desk. Thanks again, Tom. Great video! Appreciate the captions as you work, helps put together the shopping list for the hobby shop run. Have a question: The use of the foil in the beginning, . . . not quite sure of the effect it was achieving . . .
+Michael Havenga thanks for your kind words 😊 I use the alu foil to get the shape from different parts where I want to put wood decals on. This method makes it easy to cut the right shape out of a big decal with wood structure from "Uschi van der Rosten". I use alu foil for canopy covering in a similar way. I made a tutorial for it which might show it in a more detailed way: ua-cam.com/video/u7VsZSm-0TY/v-deo.html
I might be OCD...I cant handle watching all that micro- cable work, fine small detail...then covering it up...arghhh. We need little fairy pilots 1 inch tall to really appreciate this.
simply perfect !!! as always. one question though if i may please, how do you make these beautiful videos of yours ? do you use some kind of special software or something ? it seems like the plane is being built by itself. how do you do that ?
thanks for your kind words and request: I work with after effects (adobe) to edit the several pictures I've been taken by my digital camera before. It's some kind of an old cinema technique were you take a picture; move your part; take a picture again and so forth and forth. When you put these pictures together in a composing program like after effects you get several clips and footage you be able to combine them to some sort of clip. It's similar to the clips we used to do with a flipbook were you paint some line figures on the edge and let it flip though your thumb to create a little movinge picture... ;-)
thanks a lot for your reply. As a matter of fact, I've figured you must be doing something like that, but I was amazed how the parts don’t move from their places, and yet they are being painted and keep on building. It seems like they are actually stuck on the surface in front of the camera while being built in the meantime.... very very cool indeed !!! :-) I always like to watch your videos, they are short and yet you can still see the whole building process. Keep it up !!!
foxguyfox I'm glad you like my combination of showing the building process and letting the pieces act on their own... Currently I am working on a different kind of story. But it'll last some time to get finished... To answer your question: I use some kind of marker to position the parts in the right place even after asemmbling and painting them. So I achieve some kind of continuity during the entire process. When there are some gaps on the pictures I fix it in the composing program....
I might not know enough history for this but didn’t Antony Fokker plagiarize French design instead of Pfalz A.G.? Just wanna know is it the Fokker E.III or Pfalz E.III, it doesn’t seem right.
All that detail in the cockpit just to be hidden.......beautiful models and cinematography
Most underrated channel on UA-cam.
lenhister really
It's so enjoyable.
It makes me want to build..
👍
So much wonderful detail in the cockpit and yet it may not be easily seen.
You can still see a lot of details - and there's the video 😅
Compared to other plastic model/weathering channels, Tom is a level up. You blink and you miss a few hours' worth of work. Such precision, detail and eye for real-life colours. And the result is not shiny... Amazing. Thanks Tom!
I'm glad you like my work and thanks for your kind words 😊
So much time and effort spent on detail that is covered up by the fuselage.
I watch your videos before I head to work to get inspired to do my job (custom bicycle frame builder) as well as I can each day. Thank you!
+Mike Salvatore wow! A pleasure to be able to inspire - you're welcome and thanks for your kind words 😊
Another beautiful masterpiece. Thank you Tom.
and thank you for your kind words ;-)
What beautiful work, really fires my imagination, a great tribute to those men and machines.
I am glad you like it ;-)
Fantastic building skills and on top of the build all the stop motion shots it must have taken ages! thanks for entertaining us all!.
I'm pleased you like it 😊
This is the best WWI build I have ever seen. Outstanding sir! Thank you for posting.
Oh, thank you very much 😊 - have you seen my other WWI airplanes? Please take a look if you like 😊
AWESOME! I was really into WWI 1/48 scale plane kits 15 years ago. I did this same kit. I wish I knew weathering back then. Consider carving your own propellers, looks so cool. Laminate 2 woods and carve. Easier than it sounds
You make it appear so easy. That in itself is difficult.
I'M FROM GUADALAJARA, JALISCO. MÉXICO AND I'M A GERMAN LUFTWAFFE FAN AND OF COURSE OF YOUR WORK TOM.
PURE MAGIC!!!!! I'm once again awestruck!!!!!
thanks for your kind words ;-)
Truly outstanding piece of work...

Luis Zubieta thanks for your kind words 😊 I'm glad you like
Truly beautiful and amazing…how in the heck can you do it all? Thanks for sharing .
Thank you, you're welcome 😊
a lot of work went into the kit and movie making... awesome !
yes, you're right - and I'm glad you like ;-)
Tom Grigat keep up the good work.
Master level work my friend, absolutely amazing. Its also quite hard to imagine that men used to actually fly these things...in combat.
Wow...just Wow.
Может качество моделей под вопросом, но видео очень суперские. Очнь классно. Это огромный труд. Респект.)
Wow. That's beautiful. Bravo
thanks ;-)
Great job. Well done. Calming to watch.

Yes, you're totally right - to be honest, the Morane-Saulnier Type H was the plane that caused my aircraft modelling faszination..
Absolute amazing! Thumb up!
Thanks 😊
Awesome animation!!!! Keep making these. I just stumbled on to these.
Thanks 😊
Amazing! so mouch work in it, great vid
Thanks ;-)
Tom Grigat just curious: why do you add such details that can't even be seen?
For me the main fun lies in the process of building and painting - the final model is some sort of "nice to have" ;-) Not to forget the educational aspect for me personally. I'm glad to hear...
Amazing job.
That's the one I had sent to my daughter to show my granddaughter.
cool ;-)
A beautiful model, masterfully done. Now why make the at the end completely invisible internal rigging details is probably a question of someone who does not share the builder's joy of making such intricacies. I feel my hand and finger muscles cramped only by looking at these tiny things.
Amazing!!!
This man is a goddamn microsurgeon
Amazing work, Tom! Congrats! :)

Good Work. Keep IT Up
u deserve a million subscibers
oh, that would be soooooo cool ;-) But I think my vids are too special for more audiences though. It's primarily some kind of playground for me and my filmings.. I'm glad you like.
Beautyfull.
How do you feel about special hobby kits in general? I have not heard very many good things about them, but I haven't built one...
I cannot say anything against them. Everything fits very well and is good designed. As far as I worked with.
you can make better silver -copper or steel like parts by buying from artist store patina wax based paint .you can rubb it on .its the best. i hope it helps.happy modelling
can you recommend a shop to buy fine tubing? thnks in advance.vey nice work!
+nikolaos stavrou I ordered it online. It's from Albion Alloys.
In my humble opinion, this is your best video so far. a true masterpiece 👍

Tom Grigat thank you for your reply. I'll be happy if you could incorporate in a video a "how to" on wood paint effect. cheers 👍😀

What was the difference between the Pfaltz Eindekker and the Fokker Eindekker?
Different steering components on the bottom of the fuselage, different shape of the rudder and motorization...
Sadly, stuck at work again. The up side is that it is Friday; feeling inspired for the weekend to finish that model that is sitting on the Hobby Desk. Thanks again, Tom. Great video! Appreciate the captions as you work, helps put together the shopping list for the hobby shop run.

what was the difference between this and the more famous Eindecker by Fokker?
Another great looking model. How do you do the video? Your work is superb. I enjoy looking at your videos. Thank you for sharing.
I might be OCD...I cant handle watching all that micro- cable work, fine small detail...then covering it up...arghhh. We need little fairy pilots 1 inch tall to really appreciate this.
Taking pictures of the entire process is my way of keeping those hidden parts visible 😂
simply perfect !!! as always.

Absolutely amazing videos Tom, always look forward to them & the animation is just perfect work. How do you find the time.
Thanks again.
+Mark Rose I'm happy you like my way... In fact I try to find some time almost every day 😊
I might not know enough history for this but didn’t Antony Fokker plagiarize French design instead of Pfalz A.G.? Just wanna know is it the Fokker E.III or Pfalz E.III, it doesn’t seem right.
Why do you always add so much detail and care on parts that will be hidden by the fuselage?
Deses for me the assembling itself is the fun part and I like to see how f.e. the fuselage was constructed...
can u do the Fw 190f eduard
unfortunately I don't have any in my stash. Sorry...
ww1👍👍
How about you try make f2b or Hannover cl111a?
Two very interesting planes. Good idea😉
Tom Grigat so u might make them?
+The Amazing engineer sometimes maybe - but not in the near future 😅 too much projects waiting on the workbench...
Tom Grigat ok
Holy jesus
Oh snap, I always thought this was a Fokker not a Pfalz.
fokker dr1 1:36
Unutterably German (handlebar moustache era)
I understand why there's a thumbs up button, but why is there "I am a complete moron" button to the right of it?
Nice work. But way too fast and no explanations regarding techniques on how to do things step by steep in a proper. Manner. Thumb down for me..
I'm sorry you disliked it - it was never ment to be a tutorial. It's some sort of personal testing and fun of building
tom grigat
you speak Spanish
no. only german or a little bit english
Amazing !
thanks.
Fantastic!
Amazing!
