about a month ago my car started idling very rough for a week, it wasn’t drivable, soon i started hearing some loud knock noise inside the intake manifold. lucky the disa valve flap and pin were barely on still, got a new disa!

I just installed a DISA rebuild kit from German Auto Solutions and it was simple and straightforward, using the step-by-step instructions on their website. The product is quality and their customer service is great. If you have 100K miles on your E46, you should rebuild or replace your OEM DISA.

Researching this before I tackle mines. No codes other than p0171/p0174. Car was down for 3 years sitting outside so it's more of a resto maintenance wise. I can somewhat confirm my pin has not entered the chambers however I do hear metal clicking around somewhere upon cranking and then it disappears.

hey brother, if i forgot to put a crazy amount of lube in the hole. Will this damage anything? I did Lube the base of the crank very well, and slid in nicely. Please let me know. I swear it just sounds different.

Don't forget to cover the lower intake boot , you really don't want nothing to go in there while working on your car

So mine, when i go it out. I checked the flaps. Moved it how it supposred tonopen and close. It seem normal. Its still intact. So is that mean is still good?

You don’t have to lubricate the disa valve (the part that goes inside the intake) before right? It’s just a doubt before installing mine

@@yncpollo I just took out the DISA valve and stuck the borescope inside the manifold. if its too deep in there then id suggest removing the entire intake manifold off but you most likely wont have to. Good luck

How long is the original disa valve supposed to last?

Do not let it get to 100k without replacing, be careful if you dont

    • @joeysplats3209

@@C330ZSP when I read about the potential problems with a DISA that has a lot miles on it, I immediately found a high-quality company that sells a good rebuild kit. (German Auto Solutions) My DISA, at 160,000 miles, was still in great shape but the risk of that pin falling into the manifold is just too big for me. Now I don't have to worry about it and my E46 has a bit more pep. I also got a new coolant cap.

On another note, I have an 01 330 coupe with 58,000 km. Occasionally, a gear like symbol(*) appears in the gear indicator gauge. When this happens the car will only run in third and fourth gear. If the * appears and I turn the key on and off, the * goes away and the car runs normally. My mechanic thinks it might be the park indicator switch. Has anyone else had this happen?

Mine did this a few times before when I first purchased it, same year and model, i put it down to me turning the car off and on again when it was in tiptronic mode. (Mine was auto)

Unsure how this comment is of any help to anyone other than causing critique to the creator. Unsure if you have ever taken a jab at recording yourself and uploading content but something like this would require hours of setting up and reviewing your videos. This would also be critical that you have it "perfect" while disassembling, while checking your own voice and maintaining yourself on the topic lastly making sure you dont mess up on video or mistakenly break the part. Doubt you'll read it or care, more than likely you'll tell me to go screw myself in an attempt to save face.
