    Adam and Clinton walk through why this year might be a supremely beneficial year to be picking at spot 16 as they debate what our #seahawks should do at 16 as well as what they think our GM will probably do.

    Our 2nd round pick was Leo Williams, and a damn fine one at that. We should stick and picka blue chipper like Amarius Mims, Taliese Fuega, Troy Fautanu, JC Latham, or Jackson Power Johnson. If we get a haul of picks in a trade, there are blue chip O-linemen we could get in the 2nd, like Cooper Beebe, Graham Barton, Jordan Morgan, Sedrick Van Pran, Christian Haynes, Christian Mahagony, Zan Zinter etc.

      Sorry to burst your bubble but teams that pick guards and centers at 16 don’t win super bowls. We will not get a “haul” of picks by trading back, and none of the 2nd round lineman you listed are blue chippers, that’s not a term you can just throw around.

      @@jarhead1031 All the guys I listed at 16 except Johson are tackles, and a couple of them can play guard. Hate to burst your bubble, but we can't win anything with two question marks at tackle like Lucas and Cross. Cooper Beebe has been rated as the best guard in the nation for two+ years now. Anyone who says he isn't blue chip is smoking crack. If Brock Bowers is available at 16, I bet we could get a haul of three picks.

      @@SuperZekethefreak tacking a tackle when we have two really good starting caliber young players is dumb so there’s that. There’s no reason force exterior Oline instead of taking an actual need like edge or DT, both of which will likely have substantially better players on the board than olineman (turner, verse, Murphy, newton: as compared to OT 3-4). I’m not saying that Beebe, Haynes, and Barton wouldn’t be fantastic but actual blue chip guards are guys like Skoronski and Quinten Nelson. If Brock Bowers is there at 16 it would be an all time fumble to not draft him, the “haul of three picks” we’d get from trading back would probably be two thirds and a fifth, not even close to the value of taking a top 5 talent at 16

      @@jarhead1031 Lucas's knees are shot. He may never come back like he was or come back at all. We don't know how Cross is doing - he may come back and get injured on Day 1. We literally have two question marks at tackle, and drafting a blue-chip swing tackle is not only smart, but also essential imo. Skoronski is a great example of a tackle who converted to guard when he was asked to, and he'll go back to tackle when asked to also. We obviously have some differences of opinion, but I still think you can voice your opinion without being an insulting punk.

    Great points about blue chip players potentially being there for the Hawks at 16. I love Fautanu (spelling?) and Murphy. The odds are one or maybe both will be there at 16. My concern is if Seattle doesn’t trade down, they don’t have anything until the 80s and this draft is solid, in my opinion, through the third where it falls off some. I’d rather trade down get Barton, or best player available where they traded down, and have more options to acquire talent in the second and third round.

    I think at pick 16 you have a few top players that if they fall to you You just cant pass them up . With the signings The Hawks have made it looks like they could go either way . If the top players on their Draft board are gone. best to trade back . The way this draft looks you could still grab some top talent late in the first, early to mid second round.
    I think they are looking to grab a top O-lineman in the first , atleast that is what i would do . Hawks let go three of their starting o-lineman ,they sign fant to help in Abe Lucas's spot.Olu looks to be the starter at center. Hawks signed a backup center. then bradford looks to be the starter at RG, Hawks signed a backup RG. The only one who hasnt been Relaced is Lewis at LG . I wondered why they le Lewis go? Big contract and possibly the draft falls perfectly for the Hawks to pick up one of the two top linemen in the draft . If a bunch of quarterbacks go early Hawks may be able to trade back in the first and still grab a top o-lineman.

    Doesn't matter, they are going to trade back.
    Hope for a good deal and not a desperate one

    Team trade back, 100,000%! Except…. if we get Fautanu at 16, I’m a very happy 12. Go Hawks!!!

    Trade back and pick up a second is the move….especially if Bowers falls to 16…..then you auction that pick for extra picks……

  • @ace448

    Trade back. Unless you have pick 1 or are in 8-10 or the 20s for the first round. Trade back the value of player you get at 16 versus 32-48 is on average for most positions negligible. If a team wants 16 to move up and vastly over pay for a player take the deal. The value of a pick in the 20s AND a 3rd round pick is on average more valuable the 16th pick. Especially for the positions you are talking about (edge, tackle)

      If the whole draft is being pushed down because of qbs, does that effect how you see 16, as opposed to the format you laid out for the average year? Adam

    It's not a perfect science. If need & best available intersect, then the choice is self evident. If not, shape your team with the best athlete(s) available and fill need with the later rounds. JS isn't being disingenuous.

      I wasn’t trying to call John a liar or anything. I know he can’t spell his whole philosophy out honestly for competitive reasons. I thought the comments we discussed were the best yet at describing his thought process without giving away the farm. Adam

    Find a way to draft Penix.

    • @SeaHawkersPodcast

      I think if they could trade down and somehow get him end of the first top of the second it would be a great move. He needs a year or two behind a vet and Geno would be perfect for him. Adam

    • @bmrepass
      @bmrepass 3 місяці тому

      @SeaHawkersPodcast I wholeheartedly agree. That would be ideal in regards to securing Penix. It's going to be interesting to see where these top 6, or so, qbs's get drafted. I liked your point about Schneider & Macdonald 'building up the middle,' but in mirror image fashion. Either OL or DL/LB, depending on who falls to them and which side of the field makes the most sense at that time & place. Pick 16 falls victim to the 'no man's land' theory and trading down may prove to contribute the best value. Love your show and go Hawks!

      This is so silly…
      Why draft Penix? We got a backup that has starting experience AND is younger than Penix.
      Not only is it silly, I think it makes zero sense

      @bmrepass 3 місяці тому

      @alfredohsauce you may be right. We'll know in a couple years. Also, the pick isn't mutually exclusive, more than one pick may turn out to be a great player.

    Move up to get Adunze and Penix.
