Am so glad that a live-action adaptation of the initial voyage of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under the command of Captain Robert M. April has FINALLY been produced and released! I love it! This recent era has been a very good one for classic, traditional Star Trek! Let's hope that this motion picture can serve as a pilot for an all-new series that centers on the first five-year mission of the USS Enterprise because this is the type of material that Star Trek enthusiasts have been awaiting for over half a century! Here's to FINAL FRONTIER! 🙂 P. S. It was also good to watch the USS Constitution (the first of the Constitution Class starships) in action!
Hey! Thank you for your generous comments! Captain April has fascinated me since I was a kid when I saw him on Star Trek: The Animated Series. I didn't think that I would ever see this story if I didn't make it myself lol. That's awesome that you noticed the USS Constitution, NCC-1700. You definitely know your Star Trek trivia and history! I'm glad you were able to connect with the film. Please feel free to send me any questions that you may have from the movie.
@Discodoggie True, Kirk did speak of how Pike and others had to see hundreds die due to accidents with basic systems that were now used without though or hesitation of what would or could happen if they failed. Engines exploding, crashes during docking, hulls collapsing from rapid pressure loss, plauges, people burning alive in space, finding dead crews or outposts, etc. "Nasty stuff, Jim. I don't envy Your new job as Captain. Sometimes New Life might be better left undiscovered until we are ready for it." - Pike "Sir, I'm not sure we ever will be. I'm just going to have try to keep us alive until the next shift." - Kirk (Untold Stories from Spacedock)
You know I wish I can watch star Star Trek the card the card is cool he's not like William Shatner you don't have to be the big wheel of everything that was the only problem I had with that program was that William Shatner had to be in control of everything and stuff like that the card he doesn't Captain April I got to learn more about him I miss Spock there will never be another spot like him Dr McCoy I know he finally retired but what happened to check off Sulu Scotty Uhura what happened to him
This is what the essence of Discovery, Lower Decks, and Picard should have been. Less of the fancy heads up holograms and more storytelling and foundation to the canon of the original Star Trek series. WOW!!!! FANTASTIC JOB!!!
@@timonsolus : Star Trek always had "woke" politics --all the way to the first series, The Original Series. It was Gene Roddenberry's plan to have writers inject contemporary issues into their stories. I can list details and stories in this comment, only this comment would get extraordinarily long.
Most fan films have one of two problems: either the story is weak or it is overloaded with fanboy stuff. This has none of those problems. It left me wanting more. Solid job.
... not only that, it gave us a huge set up for more, with the identity of the communications officer being revealed on the comm call with home near the end. would love a sequel dealing with the implications of that!
agree on all points . acting ..felt like it should if you were making a pilot . with no-one settled in there role yet . which lends its self perfect to a new crew not sure with the ship or in fact there role aboard it . my hats off to them they should make a series
I'm only 20 minutes into this and love it. Someone commented what these people could do with a CBS budget. Why doesn't CBS stop working so hard to rewrite Trek and hire some of these people that are essentially working for free out of their homes pouring their hearts into these films. You could probably make a series or movie for half as much and be twice as profitable. There's a whole community out there waiting to pay to see real Trek again. Episodes that have depth and not just big action sequences with forgettable characters. Different series that build on each other and grow new characters and stories that are memorable (The Drumhead comes to mind).
Alex Kurtzman in charge probably has a iron clad contract and you would need a whole new show runner/production company to change things so as long as he and his group are there I don't see any change!
@@jacobbrown1690 I think it is even beyond agenda it is badly written and many scenes and characters are just fracking annoying as hell! Add in bad designs, etc. and just an unpleasant time for any ST fan.

Thank you! We were filming on set and when Barry Corbin said this line, I looked at my unit production manager, Keith Brooks and I said that's our tagline , "The stars are not that far..." Barry's performance also made the line so awesome. What a good actor he is.
@@Schizzatt thank you I know this is a late response but I just wanted to let you know that that interaction between Father and Son was inspired by the TV series Babylon 5 a very similar scene takes place between the captain and his father when the captain has to go and do something really hard
I'm impressed with how authentic this film feels. Both the script, the directing, the props, the uniforms, the sounds effects and even some of the character's mannerisms are all true to star trek.
After everything they did, after how they massacred you, they won't win in the end. Try as they might, they can't take you away from us, Star Trek. Because you don't belong to them. You belong to the ones that love you.
I agree with you 100%. Star Trek does not belong to them. Perhaps the ability to monetize it does, but the idea of Star Trek has long been the property of the universe itself. The collective conscious of all of us that love it.
@fightonMD Exactly! Great attention to detail. What a fantastic first effort to explore the pre-Kirk (pre-Pike!) days of Strafleet and the early Constitution class adventures.
@@BonesMcCoy2013 no, that's the Starbase Operations insignia. Your point stands though! Appropriate costuming. You can see he's wearing the captain's rank insignia on his wrist as well. The commodore rank insignia is similar to the captain's but the outer woven bars connected by a gold bar, instead of being separated by a dotted one.
Can't believe I've never seen this! I'll NEVER Forget the FIRST EPISODE! Everyone gathered in the only neighbors house with a color TV to watch it. Good thing I was tiny. I got to sit right in front! ❤ I Love Star Trek!
Agreed and I believe I agree with all those fans of Star Trek it doesn't belong to CBS it belongs to the fans we need to speak United this is the kind of material we want
Im about 1/3 of the way through and im enjoying the heck out of it. The audio on April is low at points but so far the storys been great. Acting is pretty good as well. Props are better then the original series while still being appropriate to the timeline. STUNNINGLY good for independent show. These folks would not be out of place working on major productions. I suspect the audio issues are more about budget then skill.
On anniversary of Star Trek going back to the beginning with an untold story of Robert April is quite amazing and i enjoyed it thank you to its creators i hope for more with Cpt April
Thank you! We were able to launch it at exactly the same (8:30pm) on the same date (September 8) as Star Trek aired in 1966 with the episode "The Man Trap". It was important to me to launch then. I am really glad you liked it! LLAP, -Kenny
You see ? It can be done. Real Trek, real stories, characters, pathos and humour. Not an expletive or in sight nor a scene out of place. Take note studio bigwigs, this is what Star Trek is - and what we want.
Dave Carr Yes, I agree with you. The sound editing will be done with time and this will sound as good as it looks. I dont know the processes or costs, but I think In fact, when this is finished, with some visual and sound sweetening, this is going to be awesome, which is not to say it isn’t already! Barry Corbin in any role is really great. Somehow, I always pictured Barry as Trip’s crusty old uncle on ST-Enterprise.
Found this by chance this evening on UA-cam. Apart from the obvious sound problems I thoroughly enjoyed watching it so thanks for posting it here. Certainly has the "feel" of the original 1960's version of Star Trek to me.
Sad thing is CBS want to give us crap like the Picard, discovery, lower decks and whatever else they can push off and try to call star trek. What they call Star Trek today is nowhere near what Mr. Roddenberry‘s vision was for the show. Star Trek deserves better than the caretakers who have it today. Star Trek and Star Wars both deserve better they are both iconic franchises. They both have ment so much to so many. We can only hope that Someday and let’s hope soon, someone comes to power at CBS or Disney Who are true fans of the franchises & Hopefully Put them back where they belong. Put the focus where it should have been all along. where it once was. And where it should be going forward. The focus should be on good stories. The focus should be on the fans. The focus should be staying true to the source materials. The focus for Star Trek should be on the utopian future that it’s creator envisioned. We may never reach that. But we should strive for it. Live long and prosper.
Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of UA-cam. Unless what the fans want is a good story. With well rounded and written characters. Characters with depth and reality. Not characters like Rey or Michael Burnham. Each character is either from Star Wars or Star Trek and are both shallow, not well written, bad characters. With Star Trek and the so-called offerings that are out there are just not what the franchise was based on. I know franchises grow and change over the years. Unfortunately Star Trek and Star Wars both have changed but not for the better. An example of a show/movie that has done it right is cobra Kai. Based on and containing Some of the original characters from the karate kid. This is a show that’s done well. It stays true to its source material. It respects his source material while at the same time introducing new characters and building on the narrative of the story. He has a good story writing. Good actress, and is done extremely well. Star Trek and Star Wars both can learn from this show.
Lifelong Trekker here. I can find enjoyment in nearly anything Trek; even Discovery (-dodges rotten fruit-), but this was truly impressive. You have reinforced that Star Trek isn't about cool effects - it's about US. It's about people. The story is well thought out, the script is strong, and the acting, overall, is very good (Holy cow! Barry Corbin!). I confess, I was genuinely moved hearing Ms. Nichols'' opening narration. Wet eyes and everything. And again, seeing the virginal Enterprise. And again at the end. You've done, with a shoestring budget, what Kurtzman and Abrams couldn't do with hundreds of millions of space-bucks. I salute you, your crew, and your cast. Live long, and prosper. Or, as Mr. Scott might say, "Good on ya, laddie." Please, PLEASE make more of this. This is what Trek fans want.
Except a defiance of actual space physics , this a good movie . A captain serving with his wife was a good one too . That is truly inspiring . Well done .
With a cool surround or at least good stereo. I'm watching with a surround sound receiver with old Cerwin Vega 12TR speakers and a newer center channel
Classic Trek. Now this is the Trek I grew up on. Clearly a labor of love and all involved are passionate trek fans. You guys and gals did Roddenberry proud. ❤❤❤
First-Class production values make all the difference….You didn’t skimp : You hired competent, experienced & talented directors, screenwriters, cinematographers, actors & crew --AND IT SHOWED. BRAVO.
You got the chemistry between the crew just right, and that's the hurdle others keep stumbling at. Congratulations for showing that Star Trek CAN capture lightning in a bottle once more.
Another lifelong Trekker here, I found your film very enjoyable, the effects were really cleverly done despite limited resources. Thank you for an entertaining tribute inspired by our beloved Star Trek.
I'm a 74 year old life long trek fan, and I think this was just terrific. Thank you so much for making this, you did an incredible job!!! Live Long & Prosper, Jim
Life long (age 64) Star Trek fan here. This was a fantastic tale! Well done to the cast and crew. May you all live long and prosper (and make more episodes). 💖
Watching this makes me feel like I was a young boy again. Back to the basics to when expensive Special effects were of no significance. What mattered was that you felt you were really there, right amongst the action. Three cheers for Star Trek, and long may it live.
Best movie was the best star trek movie i have ever seen. The people who played these characters make william shatner, leonard Nimoy look like very immature actors. I would gladly pay $1000 dollarsto watch this in a theater.
I loved it... back to the origins... Star Trek didn't become a legend because of the special effects, but because of the relationships between people and different species... long live Star Trek!!!!
@Tony Lewis Perhaps not, that was an out of court settlement that only the makers of Star Trek Axanar agreed to. The failure of STD and STP has cause a Civil War within CBS. There is talk that most of the STD and STP people are on their way out. STP was intended to be their last hope on retaining power and STP is failing.
@Tony Lewis The agreement was between CBS and the makers of Axanar to avoid going to court. CBS said this applied to all fan films. But up until now no one has called them out. The people from CBS who brought the lawsuit are gone now because of the failure of STD and STP. The worse that can happen is CBS takes them to court. But CBS would have to claim that they are suffering a loss or that the makers of First Frontier are profiting off Star Trek. In the case of Axanar, they used private funding to build sets and a sound stage. Then they rented use of that sound stage for other productions. Technically they were profiting off Star Trek. But in their defense they were trying to raise money to off set the costs of producing Axanar. I don't think CBS is going to rock the boat on this one. But it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.
Original Trek struggled with low budgets and less than stellar special effects. What mattered then ( as here ) was the writing, acting, and heart. Production value here is remarkable for the minuscule budget. Acting, direction, writing are all solid. Three cheers
Yes exactly, writing, acting and as you put it "heart" overshaddows big production by far. Star Trek from TOS to ENT has that unlike the new so called Star Trek which dont have any of that.
@@Stefan- Definitely the "Heart" was in the acting here - every bit the difference with good story writing. I'd watch more of these over any Hollywood Big Budget movie - that is for sure.
Unlike Picard and Discovery fan works like this seem to have remembered both continuity and that Star Trek ultimately was about hope for a better future, for a time when humanity managed to overcome our worst traits and go out and make things better. Just what I needed to watch after this year. Thanks
I've just had the pleasure of discovering Star Trek: First Frontier. As a long-time Trekkie, I was blown away by this film's dedication to the spirit and feel of The Original Series (TOS). The director has done an exemplary job in crafting a movie that pays loving homage to the foundation of the Star Trek franchise. One of the standout aspects of First Frontier is its character development, particularly Captain April. His journey as a starship captain mirrors the signature evolution we've come to expect from TOS heroes, making him feel like a true part of the Trek pantheon. The cast's commitment to their roles is evident, bringing depth and authenticity to the story. The script is top-notch, weaving together elements that would feel right at home in any official Star Trek production. In fact, it's remarkable how seamlessly First Frontier sheds its "fan-made" label and becomes a fully-fledged Star Trek adventure. This is no small feat, especially considering the challenges of working within the established TOS canon. What also sets First Frontier apart, however, is its dedication to the ideals that define the Star Trek universe. The film celebrates diversity, societal evolution, and the unbridled enthusiasm for exploration that drives humanity forward. I think these core principles are what make Star Trek so beloved by fans worldwide, and First Frontier embodies them. True Trekkies who value the optimistic vision of the future and the importance of knowledge-sharing as well as knowledge-seeking, then Star Trek: First Frontier is an absolute must-watch. It's a shining example of what can be achieved when passion and creativity come together.
StarTrek was always a half- hearted programme.. It was always made with one hand tied behind the back of the studios. It was ideological far too radical and anti-Capitalist for them to wholly back it and even worse it showed race mixing in a positive way. Awful, the advertisers were all against it in the 1960s. It was tpo futurist for them.
@@richardwicks4190 The Orville has the same spirit, but the humour isn't very Star Trek, in my opinion. But this (and the Orville too) are thousands of times better than NuTrek.
Dayum this is good. I feel like i did when i was a child watching Star Trek TOS. I am glued to the screen. This is Star Trek by people that know and love Star Trek. Excellent Product. Just a few audio (vocal) volume issues but all in all ...an excellent show from the bottom of your hearts
@@kennysmith4245 I just said the truth. Thanks. And good luck on your audio remix. From one audio engineer to another, I know how much work and ear energy it takes to do a remix.
Phil G The vocal and visual ‘problems’ only make it better for me. I watched from day one premiered on a little B/W TV. Then as they started playing reruns of it (still B/W for me) my friends started mentioning that it was bad to be the new guy in a red shirt... then some kids started showing up at school wearing the uniforms. They were in different colors! The best part about this is that they didn’t make the tech better than they had on TOS. Technology jumps drive me crazy. Oh. And the ‘monsters’ actually look like TOS monsters. No added slime like in the Alien movies.
@@dianagalaxy7928 that's awesome Diana. I too had a little black and white TV. I used to watch Star Trek on it. But I did know that there were different colors because my brother had the mego action figures and they had the colorful uniforms. Thank you for the compliment on the alien design, I just wanted to throw back to the old Outer Limits and Twilight Zone. I'm really glad you like it.
I too like this film. There’s a little 80’s Star Trek motion picture and Next generation in there, but mostly the original series and that’s what fascinated me the most. It was old school trek and I like it much more than Discovery. I hope you are able to do another one, and I hope you get lots of ad revenue from this on you tube. I’m not sure if you can take donations, but if you can let me know where to send mine.
And even as you can say, that Canon can always expend - which is a great think - the problem with the modern writers is not so much, that they make uncanon stuff - but that they destroy well known lore and canon just because they in reality hate the series and want to make it a think, the shows aren't and never were...
100% agree. Between this, the Axanar docu, the fan films and Star Trek Continues/New Voyages, this is Star Trek I can get behind. A return to good story telling and an enjoyable adventure among the stars. :)
THIS was phenomenal. We need more. We need a series.. CBS/P needs to release Star Trek and give it to the fans where it can be loved and nurtured, not re-imagined into something totally different and labeled Star Trek just to make money. Thank you for this. The love for Star Trek oozes from every frame.
Only those who love Star Trek so dearly can connect with the living soul of Star Trek. Kurtzman and Abrams are incompetent hacks who will never achieve the loving adoration that this production has achieved without millions wasted in lens flares and cgi explosions. Acting, writing and pacing this is Star Trek! JJ-Prise, Discovery and Lower Decks be damned!
Wow! What you said made me smile. I agree 100% that Star Trek has a living soul, it is alive and it will fight for itself, I mean maybe not literally, but somehow it does have a soul. It's far far more than a television show. Thank you so much! It means a lot to me.
@leowribeiro That's so incredibly kind. Instead of a new fan, how about a new friend? 🙂 Take care and if you have any questions about the film, send em my way!
This kind of film really is the future of true Star Trek. Like many other fans, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed that any of the recent so called "Star Trek" that Hollywood puts out now is rubish. One important point: If more fan films would use physical models and old school methods instead of CGI for the exterior sequences, it would really bring back good sci-fi. I think the audience would really enjoy it, too. I really enjoyed this movie!! I'm glad there are fans who know how to spend their money and keep Star Trek legit. Amazing!! 🖒🖒
Aye. I love the recent films cos there's big explosions, huge battles, and it just looks awesome (to me), but if they used physical models, like you said, it would make it so much more nostalgic (although I was born after the original series, and Next Gen, I was brought up with cpt Piccard)
I think theres room for CGI, I just wished theyd respect the StarTrek time line, less emphesis on in your face PC messages and go back to the more subtle script writing to keep that StarTrek charm this movie really pulled off. I think Voyager was the culmination of years of development and was perfect. The holywood movies were OK but they wernt StarTrek, just action movies with a borrowed theme and I didnt like what they did with the ship designs. I enjoyed Picard and Discovery but really they didnt work out well, because the essence of startrek was lost and copywrite debacles got in the way. Patrick Stuart was brilliant but the whole Idea that Star Fleet had lost its way.... well I don't think that rings true to J.R's vision. Star fleet Captains are tested sure, but the point was, that as a whole, we'd moved beyond the petty emotions that hold us back in this century. One rogue admiral sure, but not the whole organisation. Making a progression or sequal is always going to be hard, but a mixture of directors trying to hard and a push to commecialise StarTrek to be more palitable to a wider ordiance is whats really killing the StarTrek franchise. StarTrek is meant to open peoples minds to what could be possible and shouldnt be diminished to satisfy the narrow views of those who won't understand it in this life time. Whats more than that, StarTrek just like the apollo misions, was effective at inspiring the next generation of Scientists and Engineer's. Voyager was CGI but it fealt real just as the Next Gen Enterprise did. The rehashed StarTreks didnt feel real, they looked liked theyd been dreamed up in a art design studio rather than Engineered in a space dock. Thats not the CGI's fault, thats art over context and to me was just cheap and tacky. In a similar way I feel the modern stories make plenty of reference to science but again fail to make it inspiring or feel real. The tardigrade storyline in discovery wasn't without merit and I liked Tilly as a character. But Leforge, Data, Severn of Nine and B'lanna Torres owened Enginneering. As did the Science officers. They wernt mavericks, they were proffesionals, Even Scotty who was abit of a maverick, aired competance and dicipline in his field. Point being you could look up to them as role models, cant really say that about any of the bridge crew in Discovery. Again this felt more like charater art than real people. A bit like reality TV. Lets get the wierdest far out people we can find, throw them together and film them. Its just not real because its shallow and has no depth. StarTrek is a delicate balance of science, culture, adventure and problem solving. Done well it can showcase all of these without pushing any one of them to hard. RIP J.R
@@danieltackett7099 outstanding, great insight to first Captin Collens and Captain April of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 first generation. Well done! Great to know the adventures of the beloved Ship. Now we need to know some more about NCC 1701-C
THIS is Star Trek canon, right here! This actually has the look and feel of what came before Kirk, before Pike. The problem with current Trek, that is supposedly set in a time before TOS, is that it looks like it is actually 300 years in the future of that timeline. Bravo for this!
@@williamstrome5271 In TOS, you are introduced to Christopher Pike, former Captain of the Enterprise. In the Animated Series, you are introduced to Captain April, original captain of the Enterprise. That is the canon this film uses to establish the character and storyline.
The problem is that technology improved unexpectedly in OTL (our timeline), meaning, that to look futuristic, the entertainment companies had to keep up. The result was prequels with more advanced tech than TOS. So the obvious solution would be to retcon TOS.
This movie captures the heart of what made Star Trek: The Original Series so good, updating the human mindset 50 years or so, to make a really compelling story. While I get attempting to be true to the original show, The Next Generation really got it right sending the first officer, rather than the captain, into harm's way. It would have been nice to make that correction. The technology, of course, is limited, but that is not nearly as important as getting the screenplay right. Bravo for an unbelievably good job for a FanFiction effort. If nothing else, maybe it will help inspire better future productions. For now, it is just pure joy to watch. Excellent!
Hey! Your comment made me feel awesome! I really appreciate your kindness. I only had myself as a compass for what I believed to be correct and true to Star Trek, I tried to capture that feeling we used to get when we watched it as kids, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. LLAP, -Kenny
60 year old Trekkie here. Stumbled on this purely by accident. Despite an initial desire NOT to watch it, I found it extremely compelling and watched it to the end......whereupon something got in my eye. Impressive. Very impressive. That’s the Trek we’re looking for. The Trek we missed. The Trek we really (REALLY) want. This was most......LOGICAL (even if there wasn’t a Vulcan Officer on the bridge). Extremely diverse, yet, original - love it!
Kenny, I've been a fan of all things Star Trek since watching the debut episode, "The Man Trap" in 1966. I was 8 years old, just starting the 3rd grade. Since then, it has been my fortune to view every series and movie produced commercially. Along with countless fan films and shorts. This film is one of the best immersions into the TrekVerse a fan can experience. You bring the wonder, excitement and - lets face it - the nerd factor that Gene gave us in TOS. This is what Sci-Fi is meant to be. CBS is foolish to not use your creativity and have you on salary. Thank You for this entry into Star Trek Fan Films. Bravo, Sir! Outstanding!!
Wow! How kind of you to say! I'm pretty sure that my entire cast and crew are ready if CBS or Paramount were to ever call. If nothing else a web series would be fun! But I don't have my hopes up for it. Still, one can dream. I appreciate your very kind words.
We criticize it because we love it. It has heart and a soul the new ones lack. It's good very good. Thank you for doing this.... you had me at the opening notes of the score, felt like an old friend.
As someone who has watched star trek for 36 years (im 40) this is more star trek than anything produced by the 'real studio' in 20 years maybe longer the only thing close to' real trek 'is season 3 of picard. Thank you so much for making me believe we can still have fantastic star trek
Now this is the best Stark Trek that I’ve seen in a long time. This is way better than anything on CBS All Access like STD, Lower decks, or Picard. CBS hire these people and fire everyone else right now.
Awww, that was really nice. Im visiting with my mom and I read it to her and she smiled. Thank you for giving that smile to me with your words. LLAP, Kenny
I'll be shocked if this isn't struck down within a few days. I hope it isn't. I like this more than everything Secret Hideout has put out, but I see them coming down on it, hard.

WOW! THIS did NOT Suck! It in fact was DEFINITELY In the HEART of what STAR TREK Was and IS All about! I would LOVE to see MORE From this Cast and Crew! :)
That is the reason why so many 'old' Trekies disliked the Star Trek films starring Chris Pine - the original story of a peaceful starship searching out the wonders of the universe was replaced in all three of them with agression, battle and warfare. I personally liked the films themselves, but as a great fan of Star Trek since 1966, I must agree with the criticism.
I enjoyed this as much as the "Star Trek Continues" series. Excellent work. I will add this to my Enterprise, TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager collection!
Im 40 mins in and so impressed I feel like I am watching legit Trek. It feels like TOS & TNG with vibes of SNW. The use of effects is good. I like the embracing of the OG effects and when and where it is used vs CGI. Made it feel organic and less low budget and more vintage Trek. Thanks for making and sharing.
What a nice comment! I'm been watching Star Trek since I was born so throughout production, I often called upon my internal Star Trek radar as a guide to tell me if something "felt" right or not. I think I was able to get it pretty close. Thank you for your kindness. It means a lot. LLAP- Kenny
This is real Star Trek, what a great movie, what great Star Trek, best thing since original series. I love all the characters in it, and it makes me want to watch a full 5 year mission.
Fantastic, amazing and wonderful. Even with the slightly messed up audio, this film was so much fun to watch and such a joy to behold. Thank you so much for creating it, making it and sharing it with us all.
Agreed, the terrible audio levels take so much away from this film. I just hope no one suffered permanent hearing damage, if they were using headphones.
I have always been a huge nerd for any and all science fiction, that being said, I found this to be one of those that goes on my top 10 list of things done exceptionally well, you don't need huge budgets and big names for a story to be one of the best, it is very obvious that this project was done with love and care for the series as a whole, and I believe that Gene would have absolutely loved it. Never let a studio convince you to work for them unless they are 100% willing to give you every bit of artistic freedom you need to make things like this. If I were in charge at paramount, I would find you and beg you to make the next 50 years of star trek. Good job to everyone involved in this. Glad to see something that didn't need cgi explosions every 5 minutes.
As a ST-TOS Fan for more than 50 years, I can say THIS is what I kept hoping Star Trek would become and remain like in terms of story telling. this is some great stuff.

Here's to FINAL FRONTIER! 🙂
Sometimes New Life might be better left undiscovered until we are ready for it." - Pike
"Sir, I'm not sure we ever will be. I'm just going to have try to keep us alive until the next shift." - Kirk

Hey Kenny, I enjoyed it :) Respect to you for following your joy and your passionate commitment to share it with us all. x

CBS needs to hire these people. They will be an asset to star trek franchise
They certainly understand Star Trek more than the current lot of jokers in charge of it.
No, CBS/Viacom needs to sell Star Trek to those that give a damn instead of seeing it as something to exploit, fans to be exploited.

I loved it... back to the origins... Star Trek didn't become a legend because of the special effects, but because of the relationships between people and different species... long live Star Trek!!!!
Imagine what they could have done with a CBS budget.
that is what I'm saying!!
Those with imagination and heart don't need so much budget. Better to have a little hunger.
oh you mean like not kill star trek?? yea... discovery and picard are awful..

Gene Roddenberry's vision lives on in this excellent production.
This is Star Trek the way that it is supposed to be!

At this point fan films are the only way to watch anything 'new' that even remotely resembles canon.
Huge difference when the writers care.
It's true
Very true it’s just to bad that the really good fan films like this and others are not cannon
Well said and truth!
THIS was phenomenal. We need more. We need a series.. CBS/P needs to release Star Trek and give it to the fans where it can be loved and nurtured, not re-imagined into something totally different and labeled Star Trek just to make money.

RIP J.R
@@RoadRashSpirit Well said! You have an amazing grasp on Star Trek. I appreciate your kindness!
I really like this. The people that put this together deserve congratulations.
Loved it! Could hardly ask for much more outside of cgi. Props and basically everything else was beautiful. Any quip I have is minor.
@@danieltackett7099 outstanding, great insight to first Captin Collens and Captain April of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 first generation. Well done! Great to know the adventures of the beloved Ship. Now we need to know some more about NCC 1701-C
Well done production!!
THIS is Star Trek canon, right here! This actually has the look and feel of what came before Kirk, before Pike. The problem with current Trek, that is supposedly set in a time before TOS, is that it looks like it is actually 300 years in the future of that timeline. Bravo for this!
Agreed 100%!
I remember watching star trek with william shatner and leonard nemoy in 1966 so what was before captain kirk.
'

48 year old lifelong Trekkie here. This was outstanding.
Wasnt this what we remember,? even better in some ways!!
@@bombasticbuster9340 In some ways, yes. Much better.
Extremely diverse, yet, original - love it!
that make two of us
Thank you so much!
I can't believe we have to live in a world where we now have to rely on fans to keep Star Trek Star Trek. Thank you so much!
Kenny,
I've been a fan of all things Star Trek since watching the debut episode, "The Man Trap" in 1966.
Amazing, excelant casting , worthy of the genre. thank you very much.
I must agree this is one of the best Fan films that can easily compete with the best of the original series. Bravo!!
As a lifelong TOS fan, I have sorely missed this style of Trek. Wonderful, thank you 💕
WOW! That was incredible. Finally a Captain April film. The first of many i hope!🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
I’m 23+ min in to the movie and haven’t felt the urge to turn it off or throw up.
That’s a good thing.
@mikecrabtree8200 You know, I actually get the compliment out of that lol. And I appreciate it.

We criticize it because we love it. It has heart and a soul the new ones lack. It's good very good. Thank you for doing this.... you had me at the opening notes of the score, felt like an old friend.
Got one thing to say and that is "NEXT PLEASE"
Shouting that from North Cyprus too 🗣
LOL thank you so much! That means a lot to me.

Amazing movie. It has what CBS never will have: HEART!!!! Congratulations to the crew!
Wow, this is just amazingly good. I've been a Star Trek fan literally since Day One, back in the 60's.

I'm going to put all the many production flaws to one side and simply say: We need more of this.
Thank you! 🖖

Great Film!!! If only the writers for CBS Trek had a quarter of this kind of creativity!!!
As someone who has watched star trek for 36 years (im 40) this is more star trek than anything produced by the 'real studio' in 20 years maybe longer the only thing close to' real trek 'is season 3 of picard. Thank you so much for making me believe we can still have fantastic star trek
You're welcome, my friend. It was my pleasure.

@kennysmith4245 I do hope there's going to be another one the cast were fantastic.
200 dislikes? I didn't think that many Klingons were interested in this movie...
That made me laugh out loud. I love it. Thank you.
Might be some Romulans mixed in there as well lol

they all work for CBS
only isiots ans assholes didn't like this....
Now this is the best Stark Trek that I’ve seen in a long time. This is way better than anything on CBS All Access like STD, Lower decks, or Picard. CBS hire these people and fire everyone else right now.
DUDE YOU ROCK,CBS NEEDS PEOPLE WHO LOVE STAR TREK, LIKE YOU.THANK YOU!
Of all the things in my life that I cherish besides family, Star Trek is in the number one position LOL. Thank you so much!
I am practically in tears at having Real Star Trek back after all these years, and unashamedly so.
Awww, that was really nice. Im visiting with my mom and I read it to her and she smiled. Thank you for giving that smile to me with your words.

Now that is Star Trek! Well done! A true labour of love and its shows, and its great to see Robert April in action!
Okay, i'll freely admit that i like Captain Robert April.
His story was certainly interesting and relatable.
Light years ahead of anything CBS has put out.
As one who actually wrote one of the letters to keep TOS on the air after the first two seasons, I say Bravo! to this production.
This is amazing as it celebrates what we love about Star Trek (especially of course the original series) and yet also explores brave new worlds!
Good movie. Kudo's to the cast and crew. Hope this is just the beginning of more to come.
With the new rules from CBS that may not be likely. :(
I'll be shocked if this isn't struck down within a few days. I hope it isn't. I like this more than everything Secret Hideout has put out, but I see them coming down on it, hard.
It says on the description, that they were grandfathered in, and the new restrictions do not apply.
Yes, that should apply to this one, but I don't think they will be able to make more, unfortunately. :(
I agree with you my dear sister from Gabrielle Rivas and do you like to date a transgender maile my dear friend yes or no or maybe my dear friend from Gabrielle Rivas
Honestly impressed. This was very good, and felt TOS era.
Congratulations to Kenny Smith for bringing to us this great show! I am 63,grew up with all the crew, and I love to see a bit of frontiers again. Best wishes for the New 2024 year! And let's hope for another wonderful movie! :)
Wow! Thank you so much seeing the spirit of the movie. It was made with a sincere, intense love for Star Trek and the values it presents to our universe. I appreciate you beyond words.
- Kenny
WOW! THIS did NOT Suck! It in fact was DEFINITELY In the HEART of what STAR TREK Was and IS All about! I would LOVE to see MORE From this Cast and Crew! :)
Thanks! I really appreciate your kindness. Im glad you enjoyed it. I do adore Star Trek. Its been my constant companion through life.
To boldly go where no woman has gone before! Boy, I sure don't want to go there!
I enjoyed this as much as the "Star Trek Continues" series. Excellent work. I will add this to my Enterprise, TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager collection!
This is breathtakingly great! It stayed true to visual and thematic continuity and told a fresh new story! I can't wait to see more!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was just trying to make a film that reminded me what it felt like to watch Star Trek when I was a kid.
@@kennysmith4245 any chance of cbs letting you do a full series? I d love to see a full season
The fact this video already has over twice as many views as the Star Trek day panels... I'm laughing. But they won't get it.
I'm a old fan. Watch many episodes in black and white. If politicians would quit squabbling we would be in space now. Space X has a new fan of mine.
@@wade7285 Politicians that agree is a dangerous thing. Politicians agreed in Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, and other nations. It is never a good thing for any population. It's less about them agreeing and more about them staying out of the way.
So… you expected Star Trek to look and sound the same for 50 years?
@@bakasta5992 No. READ The god damned comment BEFORE commenting or asking dumb questions. Please.
As a life long Star Trek fan I am thrilled and overwhelmed with happiness. This was SO GOOD! CBS must be run by idiots not pick up this show along with Star Trek Axanar. They really must not want our money. If CBS could give us more classic Star Trek I will sign anything to join for life! I know I am not alone. All my close friends feel the same way. When fans need to make the Star Trek we want against the wishes of CBS it should be a signal you are not doing what the fans want! We are excited about Strange New Worlds but they better hire a few Star Trek experts so they don’t mess up our beloved Original Series Star Trek!
Thank you for this! It really means a lot to me. I do not expect a phone call from CBS. If they ever did, we would do our best to be available but like I said, I'm not holding my breath. We just hoped to remind everyone that Star Trek has not died, it lives in our hearts. It's an idea, and the one thing you cannot kill is an idea. Just let them try. 🖖
As a first generation TOS fan, I enjoyed this. Captured the spirit of the show, while bringing something new to the legacy. Go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine...
