I had the audio fuse 8pre and it was pretty nice but sold it and got the EVO 16. Absolutely no regrets. For the price i don't think anything else can compare feature wise
I bought this a month ago and it also sounds better than the SSL2+

I have a Reaper script that auto gain stages all inputs, outputs and track levels in 10 seconds and it’s free.

got EVO 16 + SP8 .. replaced my Focusrite Clarett and ISA pres... I actually like the Audient better. And MAN is the autogain good. Just missing the ability to remote activate autogain. Well I make it work, but I hope to see Smartgain activation using the Mixer app.. should not be difficult to implement.
Nice dude! I'm recommending this interface to a local band who asks me advice from time to time. I bet they would really take advantage if this feature!
Consider adding one EVO SP8 to that so you have 16 inputs that can be smart-gained. You'll have a very powerful recording rig!
What i cant find out is DOES THIS WORK ON CHANNELS COMING IN VIA ADAT?????

It’s a very simple clever idea to make a interface much better quality to a beginner.
Take a much more expensive interface with a noticeably better sound and mess up the gain staging and get a much worse sound.
It makes is such a safe bet for producing to then get it mixed than to be trying to get a warmer sound from a more expensive interface.
Get it all down clean and with plenty of headroom and you’ll give a mix engineer so much more room to make it sound good.
Gain staging was a big jump in quality of productions when I learned how important it was.
Before I was waving back and forth in levels set trying to figure it out.
While my ears were also still becoming critical in the right way… as soon as I did, it was a much smoother ride after that.
Let say a band suddenly wanted to record themselves and hadn’t had a massive amount of experience of doing so, this would be a confident buy!
Hi, is the converters in this IF good enough to use with outbord gear? On the 2 bus ?
Auto gain is a great idea, but to be fair Roland Octa capture and Studio Capture etc have had it for many years before these audient ones
The EVO 16 is so cool. The IO and functionality you get at $500 is hard to beat.
Now that's really useful. Can you connect a second unit via ADAT?
you can connect 2 adats, so you get 16 in/out digital + the 8 in / out on the unit
the actually just came out with an 8 channel add on, the sp8, called the audient evo preamp, which is designed to link with it. only difference is no headphones and it's just a few bucks less

What software plugins would anyone recommend to accomplish something similar, but after everything is recorded?
Recording levels aren't my mixing levels. You can't do automatic gain staging at the mixing stage because it depends how many tracks you have, what are you using for mixing (analog, no analog) and what your methods are. In short, my gain staging won't work for you and vice versa
it's very interesting that it has no vending on the top like most interfaces with that many mic pres. is there something about it that allows it to run cooler?? 🤔
The preamps of this unit have been completely redesigned, they had to to implement the digital control. The unit runs colder than others

For a musician not engineer, this or SSL 12?
Well you would definitely use the autogain function and the ease of use of this one. Both are great interfaces tho'

How is the latency on the Evo 16? The one thing that concerns me is the Evo 16 uses USB 2 .
We track live drums for Jon Dette with it. Enough said

My band uses an Evo 16 as our live mixer/recorder with a laptop, and we haven't experienced any latency issues.

@@mixbustv Tx for the quick reply. So gain control using 1 knob for linked channels work too? That's huge for us using Sphere mic or Ambisonics 4 mics setup.
How does it compare to motu for the use of outboard gear ?
