According to the left, since she is 13, she has the right to an abortion and can have a sex change operation without her parent's consent (in some states), she also has the right to sleep with anyone she wants, regardless of age. These ideas are based on the fact that only recently in the west was the age of consent raised to 16. In Germany, it was 14. In Japan it is still 13 in some areas. Belgium was known as the "kiddie porn" capital of Europe in the 70s, since it's age of consent was 12, I think. In much of the world, kids are used for sex, it's just seen as normal, like slavery used to be. Only in America do people get upset.
I'm not defending underage sex; it is harmful to the girls both physically and mentally. It's just that in much of the world, it's not considered a bad thing. THAT is one of the defenses pedo's use to excuse their actions.

UPDATE: August 4, 2022 "During a hearing today in Volusia County, Tyler Thompson was sentenced to 40 years in Florida State Prison for 30 felony charges in relation to the case." Justice WAS served! Thanks to this deputy, this man will spend the rest of his life rotting away in prison. Kudos Deputy Royce James.

It is not quite that easy in all cases. Me and all my siblings have been given a lot of online safety and 'stranger danger' lectures from both my parents and our schools. My 13 yo sister was still getting groomed online by her best friend's uncle and she thought that she could trust him, despite the big red flags. If I hadn't of found out, she probably would of met him and shit wouldn't of ended so well.

I read a bit more on this situation, and on a brighter note, the girl immediately ran into the deputy's arms when she saw he was Law Enforcement, and she asked him to stay by her side during her medical evaluation, which he did, before taking her home.

The defendant has 3 attorneys, which means he is most likely fighting the case, given that the officer is on video tape intimidating him into speaking and he didn't molest the girl or attempt sexual activity with her...most likely the charges get reduced or dropped.
his charges are basically interfering with child custody (misdemeanor) and traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child (2nd class felony) Pretty sure the first charge is going to be dropped. If they start with a misdemeanor and you fight it, usually they can't substantiate it enough to make it land. The second charge will probably be plead down to endangering a child or something of that nature and he is likely not even going to do time or have to register as a "fan of the playground". Also possible his lawyers start pushing for a civil suit for his rights being violated.
Lots of people think they know how this is going to go, and it really demonstrates how ignorant people are of how our legal system works. Most cops don't want to admit it, but a suspect's silence during the arrest and a good legal team beats them more times than not.

So glad the girl is OK. I know this was a year ago, but those experiences for young boys and girls can last a lifetime. I hope she's OK. Not sure what possessed her to want to meet some guy in a hotel room, being that she's only 13 years old. Something wrong with how she was being raised too. This is a failure on multiple levels, but a success in that the officer saved her from this perp.
Around the age of 13 to 18 is when teens feel invincible and know everything. But it's easy to be misguided when on the internet, and I'm sure everyone can attest to that. Even if someone was raised right with good parents, there's always that possibility to have this happen to them anyway, sadly.

It’s very easy for a young girl to be groomed and preyed on like that by older people. They do not have any real experience in the world and are very clueless about the dangers and tragedies that occur from situations like this. It’s very sad. I’m 18 currently and I can’t even count how many older men have tried to groom and pursue me. I was lucky to be taught how to protect myself from those situations. All children should be sat down and taught how to protect and avoid situations like that.

@@sinabagherisarvestani8924 i think we all know he was working up to it. i'm sure there's an intent charge for this kinda thing so he can at least get that. though to be fair, proving intent is hard unless he wrote something down or was recorded saying something. i'd argue that it was obvious cuz of how undressed he was, but also again, a motel room is a private area where people can dress however they want. so unfortunately, it's likely this guy is gonna get away with minimal effort. the best we can hope for is that he was scared away from doing anything like that ever again. he knew he fucked up big time the second he saw it was actually a cop at the door. he just barely started his life too so maybe he'll change his ways and do positive things with this lesson like protecting kids instead of taking them into motel rooms :v
