Hey guys! It was an absolute blast to finally fly a full on mission on the new DCS: Kola Map! While I know this map isn't for everyone we all sure had a good time flying and fighting above the Arctic Circle!
Shout out to 7-4 hanging in as a junior pilot on a 3 hour sortie. Takes a lot of courage and determination to jump in like that. He’s gonna go far if he wants to keep it going!
Spud that was a flight, really enjoyed this one even if I didn’t get a shack “Jester”. It was sweet being able to see myself from your perspective. “FroZone”
The Tomcat was hungry for subs today. This was a very interesting mission. most air to ground missions I seen where done with a-10s, f-15e, f-18 destroying tanks in a quick action mission. Using an F-14A in the Bombcat configuration against an navy sub base was really cool. The f-14 a/g always looks like a trench run with jester's callouts. This long flight/mission with your flight(s) doing their task and completing it is more fulfilling than some quick action mission. Very nice.
In my opinion this is the best way possible to Play DCS world! And the F-14 is a FANTASTIC bombing platform! She’s definitely the second best deep strike aircraft after the F-15E and followed up by the F/A-18 in my opinion
I Love these large scale missions I could imagine how much more immersive these will be with player A-7s doing all sorts of roles, strike, Iron Hand and refuelling
I love how you all maintain your professionalism throughout the whole mission even when things go wrong. And I especially love how Oden 7-4 hung in there throughout the whole mission as well - great job. Stuff like this actually happens in the real world. I just started flying in DCS World with the F-16 and the F18 and I must say that you all make it look so easy. I have only been flying AI missions for the past six months and still have problems (radar, awareness...). But I am getting the hang of things. It's a slow process. I haven't attempted any PVP, yet, because I don't feel ready. And even though I haven't mastered the AAR, I have watched a lot of videos to at least understand how it's supposed to work. So I am getting it. Just last night I took on about 3500 lbs. before giving up. So it was my first hookup. Anyway, keep on producing these videos. I love the stories and the tutorials. I can't wait to get good enough to one day participate in one of these event's. It looks fun. Some day over the rainbow, skis are blue... I am running with your first basic setup - Thrustmaster HOTAS T16000, rudder pedals, TrackIRv5, RTX 3050 with 3x27" acer monitors - it's working nicely so far - including using the Process Lasso, which works!!! No glitches nor hiccups and watch movies on the 4th 27" acer (4 total). Got to love it. But it pushes the GPU up to as high as 97% and averages about 67 °C for temp. I keep my place cool. Anyway, these videos/movies are awesome. The action can go in any direction and no two are ever alike. I can't say enough how realistic these really play out. Wow! Keep up the good work. Hang in there Oden 7-4, you went to the finish line. I loved it. I did make Colonel and received all 8 medals. Yah!!!
Cool you planned a divert field for flight 4. I suck bad at AAR because I don't practice it regularly. All that jet wash ain't making it easier either. I totally dig the idea of the deep strike. Super cool and fun.
You did great! I loved how you hung in there to the finish line. Someday it will be my turn. I did finally get my first partial refuel of 3500 lbs. before giving up in an AI mission of course. I haven't attempted a PVP mission yet. I don't feel ready. :)
The further north (or south) of the equator, the harder it is to align the INS. IRL anyway, not sure that DCS recreates that, looks like it did. Great video mission!
Fun flight, and cheers to my Frozen 8 buds doing the greatness both in dogfights and formation. Can't wait for the next - When Spud finally will say "Bodø" correctly, and not park his armed MIL aircraft on the CIV side. In return, we'll do a correct overhead. Norse out
As funny it is to hear englishmen pronunciation of "Lakselv", it is better than the translation ("Salmon River"). But also, the airport is named Banak, which should be also easier to say and easier to remember
The Hunt for Red October air version. Just say Iran, nothing wrong with that. Ambitious project, that would be better suited for multiple episodes. Tell a story… well done 👍
i just recently got into dcs and need some help with what pc to get on a small budget because i really want to run it well so would a pc with the specs of MSI RTX 3060 ventura OC 12gb gaming graphics card and the gpu is a intel 15-9400f 6-core cpu unlocked processed up to 4.1Ghz so would this give me a smooth experience? Would really appreciate any responses
Dang I didn't know when I served on CVN65 (USS Enterprise) in 1978 that we were in the Mediterranean. People were awphley Asian and Australian looking and talking. What European country has Perth and Freemantle?
Any tips to make visual on VDI better while using the tpod , i think mine is not as clear as yours , already tried adjusting the vdi brightness and contrast but still doesn’t look good, cheers
As interesting as a video as this is from a singular perspective, it could have been better off cutting the in-flight time with other sorties action. The viggen strikes on air bases would have been particularly interesting to see included. Not sure if its my headset, but there is this clicking sound all the time in left or right ear when anyone uses a microphone in game. Not sure if this is different in game, but IRL only having one ear with this audio disturbance is awful. It's disorienting. Much like vertigo, but only one half of your brain. Not sure if it is a left/right audio issue with youtube or a feature in DCS, which seems unlikely, but man is it tough to listen to.
Jee whizz this map is crap. Lowest of res textures for most of it and airfields shown by orbx in pre-release look nothing like the product we have today. They've used mostly default assets and made area entirely different to the IRL counterparts. I do not understand why someone would buy this in the state it is in ATM.
in another video (you tutoring a subscriber (very well, i might add)) you said that Russia has proven itself to be a 'paper tiger'. i somehow found that comment 'remarkable' in a way (granted, you were not expecting political comments in that F-16 [virtual] cockpit) but i would say that 'someone else' has proven itself to be a 'paper tiger' (if one looks beyond the media propaganda). this channel is all about aviation so it is ok if you don't want to respond, no hard feelings. just thought i would mention it
China is providing most of the western world with consumer electronic doo-dads. I had 'someone else' on my mind (how often do you think about the Roman Empire)

Great video very professional. Well done the junior pilot 4, you really kept calm and hung in there - awesome stuff.

Haha well that’s my bad Frozone! I should have told you that jester wasn’t gonna track map objects haha 🤣

Awesome video Spudknocker! Good stuff - thank you.

The dhimar storyline is cool, but some more traditional nato/russia missions would be nice
That’s what this mission is! It’s all NATO vs the Soviet Union.
Loving this.! Keep it coming, your all great .. salut from south of Sweden (VIGGEN ally)
Not technically Operation Burning Sands, but still AWESOME👍 job Spud!
Haha thanks dude! I’m glad you enjoyed it
