I had bought my Peak as "refurbished" from Novation's Reverb store and wow it seems like it has never been touched and appears to be in perfect condition. Sounds great.
I‘m so stoked that you’re doing Summit videos now! Please continue doing this. 😊 Maybe you already know this: If you press both layer buttons simultaneously, every change you make (filter cutoff, for example) applies to both layers. Oh, also, the animate buttons have envelopes, too. So you can gradually fade in (and/or out) a modulation. When you get the TEO-5, route the TEO-5‘s stereo OUT to Summit‘s stereo IN to add the Summit‘s reverb to the TEO-5’s sound.
@@IndividualName Go to the Envelopes menu by pressing the „Env“-button. Go to page 7 for the Animate 1 button and to page 8 for the Animate 2 button. On both pages you can set the attack and release values.
Love the Novation Summit, one of the best features is that so many professional sound designers build patches for this synth (and the Peak), so there are literally 10's of thousands of patches available for this flagship polysynth. Also the onboard effects are amazing, 16 voices, bi-timbral, all the synth bells & whistles.
Regarding the split point: you can define where it is. When holding down SPLIT and then pressing any key, that key is now where patch B starts. Sometimes it can be handy to just have a small part A for let’s say entering arps and having more space for what the right hand is playing. Have fun!
Great content, as usual, Yuki! I always learn a lot about sound design from your detailed explanations of your processes! Sorry to hear about the Take 5. I hope the replacement is good! Looking forward to the next video!
I’ve owned both and found the Peak/Summit better in nearly every regard (and I say that as a total Sequential fanboy) - they are fairly similar synths, but being newer the Peak just has more, and in a good way. Don’t get me wrong, the Prophet 12 doesn’t suck but mine just made me miss my Summit, so I sold it and got a Peak (the Summit was sweet, but the keybed wasn’t great - at least not enough to justify the space).
@@swid_swid_swid Nice to hear your experience of the two machines. I guess I made the most optimal choice then since back in the days I bought a Pro 2 which is like a paraphonic machine of the prophet 12 but with much more extra :). For me It was an oposite travel I started with a peak I guess 6 years ago and sold it. And when they announced the summit I knew I just wanted to have it in my gear collection.
Yes I have used a super nova way back in the past. The summit and peak are way different and can nail much less digital : trance focused sounds. The effects aren’t even close which the summit and peak being miles above pretty much everything. Take 5 and teo 5 are my favorite analog synths to date but they do things very different sonically and have only passable internal effects.
I've just sold my subsequent 37. Thinking of now getting the summit to replace it... Do you think that's a good decision? Or a Waldorf m is on my radar too
@@YukiTheSynthDragon its was mentioned by another review that the noise floor is pretty high. and it being quite dark, eqing it means raising the noise. how do you find these issues?
Summit is great. To bad Novation is stubborn with regards to doing something about moving from active patch in single mode to moving to bi-timbral mode while keeping that patch active in either A/B. Plus kinda sucks that filter gain and arp sync rate don't have interface knobs.
The Summit sounds great! What’s the issue with your new Take 5? BTW, my TEO-5 came finally, and WOW. It’s amazing so far. No flaws either, other than the bottom key “feeling” different due to the Fatar aftertouch strip, which isn’t a showstopper for sure. It was even in tune out of the box. Your next Take 5 will hopefully be perfect.
I had about 4 pots that were bent front the metal shaft. 2 of which were so bad the bottom part of the knob cap made scraping noises. Never had that exact issue before. Also the 2 most bent ones had very very low turning resistance to the point of barely bumping them changes values. I ah e only had a good take 5 and teo 5 so this ain’t a common issue.
This has been a synth on my radar for years. Every time someone gushes about how awesome it is, another says it's a little bit plasticky in tone, not super lush analog, so to speak. A little bland or sometimes they say it's tone is dark. Everyone raves about the FX section though. I've ALMOST pulled the trigger on this a couple of times, but the part of me that is looking for a "big boy poly" to be a centerpiece hardware poly in my studio thinks that maybe I'd be better off saving to get something more luxurious.
The Summit is awesome. That reverb man. So good. I’ve played guitar through it.

Great setup! It is so nice to have your character above the synth, and also see what knobs you are turning.

That sounds interesting , I hardly use the animate buttons because the changes are too quick for my taste, how can I change their envelopes?

I love the novation Summit, another synth I hope to get into the market again is the Prophet 12!

How does the keybed compare to a korg triton extreme, if you know ?
Have you tried any of their older products like the supernova? I wonder how it compares. I'm thinking about getting the Summit or the take 5.
