I can understand not giving him the main lead but not even giving him a singing role after THAT incredible audition!? I seriously will never forgive neither the writers nor the characters
i mean the main issue was really there isn’t a countertenor role in west side story, and there wasn’t quite a role that would fit him, but it’d be a CRIME to give him literally nothing at all sooo… krupke, I guess, even if he is the BEST singer in the show (or atleast the top 5)
I still think that Baby John would've been a better role for Kurt than Officer Krupke. For one thing, Baby John has more lines and is in more scenes. 2nd, if all the jets and sharks are played by jocks and they all either hate or laugh at Officer Krupke, then it's only reinforcing Kurts relationship with the jocks, ie the bullied victim. 3rd, Baby John is a kid who's always trying to act like he's older and tougher than he really is, and we actually see a heart-touching/breaking moment when he isn't hiding the fact that he's terrified - I mean can't you see Kurt giving us the big teary eyes and breaking our hearts. 4th, all we need to do is mess up his hair, get him in casual street clothes smear a little dirt on his face in some scene, maybe paint a bruise or two on his face in act 2, and he'd be perfect for the role! But mostly because the role of someone trying to be tough and masculine seems to be what he's trying to do in these episodes and because I think Kurt would appreciate playing a character who's in more than literally 4 scenes.
*Directors:* We'd like you to sing 'I'm The Greatest Star' for this number. *Chris Colfer:* Sounds great! Can I bring my sai swords? *Directors:* ...Ok! 😀
Why didn't they do the smart thing and cast Kurt and Rachel as the leads and hell if the double cast had gon the way it should have then all for of them would have gotten a bite of the apple so to speak.
Because Kurt isn't right for Tony yet...and to be perfectly Frank I don't think that either Rachel or Mercedes can really play Maria. Not unless they can do a ballad like 'Somewhere' without belting, try being dramatic in a quiet, more vulnerable way
