    If I took 4 units of insulin on a bG of 130 mg/dl I'd see bG drop of around 200 pts in about 1hr. Either this inhaled insulin is very ineffective orelse you ate half a pizza before inhaling it???

      Insulin sensitivity factors vary wildly. Some people take 1 unit and it drops them 150 points, others take 1 unit and it drops them 25 points. Very individualized, for instance when my blood sugar is 200, I take around 6 units to get me down to around 100. Also inhaled insulin compared to injectable requires about 1.5x more for the same impact.

    In a follow-up video please tell us if you use Afrezza in conjunction with an insulin pump. If you do do you foresee "dumping the pump" and all of its rigmarole?

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  2 роки тому +1

      I do not currently use a pump. I use Afrezza in addition to my daily injections. I find its a good option for corrections when I'm running higher for rapid correction. Afrezza unfortunately could never replace a pump or multiple daily injection therapy because it is only rapid acting insulin, and could not replace the basal/long acting insulin.

    Hi Good day!, would you mind telling which pharmacy your getting your afreeza, ive tried every major pharmacy around but everyone says they dont carry it. Would really appreciate it thank you!

      Most CVS's and Walgreen's in my area carry it. Although they did have to special order it, you may need to request this.

    In your reply to James Brandt 4 months ago you stated you use Afrezza in addition to your daily injections as an option for corrections when bs is running high. I use the Tandem Pump (which I love) and wanted to know if you would recommend using Afrezza as an option for corrections for pump users? When I go HIGH sometimes it takes hours (4-6) to bring my bs down and by the time it's finally down I have taken 8-12 units of insulin and that is a lot for me.

      If you're looking for something to work faster for your corrections, this is about as fast as it gets and might be a good option for you. Definitely talk to your endo first though as any insulin given outside of the pump you can wind up stacking since the pump wont calculate any insulin given outside of the pump into its bolus.

    I’m curious about what you do if you need less than 4 afrezza units.. or what if you need an amount that’s in between multiples/sums of 4, 8, or 12? Like what if I need 10 units? What would I do?

    Do you refrigerate the cartridges?

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  Рік тому

      They should be kept in the refrigerator until they are being used. In the refrigerator they don’t expire until the date listed on the packaging. Once at room temperature, they expire after 10 days.

    So, someone can stop to taking insulin needle and inhaling this? Please someone help me

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  Рік тому +1

      If you’re a type 1 diabetic you would still need to take a long acting (basal) insulin. This insulin is only fast acting so it could only be used for meals and correction doses.

    Is this insulin available in Bangladesh? Are 12-year-old children of type-1 diabetes eligible to use inhaled insulin?

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  2 роки тому

      They were running a fda trial for 8-12 year olds for Afrezza here in the USA in 2019 to check the safety of the medication. As of now I still do not see that it has been complete or they have released the results, and the medication package insert still says “has not been tested in patients under 18” so I believe it’s still not indicated for pediatric patients. As far as the availability in Bangladesh, that I am not sure of, you might be able to check on their website though.
