- I gave myself an entire week to just paint stuff from my backlog. No other requirements, just to get some of the Warhammer projects i've been wanting out of the way and to get some creative freedom!

Emil: I need to get through this backlog!
Also Emil: hold on, just gonna paint individual glowing cobblestones on the bases of these 20-odd skeleton minis
its ok haha
@@SquidmarMiniatures Blink twice if you want us to send help.
That one got me laughing here hahahhahahp
he took to Miniacs speed painting class
"If I can get 6 hours of active painting a day..."
So...
No job
No gym
No friends
I can't.
I would definitely watch a series of you just working on your backlog! It gets me right in the mood of painting
I came to the comments to say the same thing.
Yesssss, please I’d love to watch that
The Editing gets better and better and the compositions and effects you guys setup are really cool. Keep on going!
Thanks a ton!
Agreed totally
@@SquidmarMiniatures The invisible primer bottle was gold
Every one of these looks great, keep goin!!! :-)
hi goobertown
Figured a lot of quick paints to get backlog done, but amount of detail you put into each mode, even skeletons/mummies, amazing!. Love the editing style too, makers videos so fun to watch
Shock!! Minis painting content provider actually spends the week doing regular painting! Really enjoyed this, and Emil I think you maybe did too? Great to see you just do some normal painting on normal minis, keep doing this occasionally, amongst the cool out-there stuff of course!
Yea, felt like half my backlog disappeared too. We need a few more of these
Emil: "I havnt finished this commission in over a year"
Miniac: "Pathetic, those are rookie numbers"
Doesn’t the owner of the commission pester you?
Your video about the number of unpainted models you had got me into taking a look around my own collection of unfinished stuff, and yeah too much as well. No whilst i don't have as much time to paint minis since it's a hobby next to my job i did get some work done as well.
- 7 previously half built models are now fully built, comprising over 500 parts (partly due to a largeish gundam) assembled since your overview video
- 1 mini is now fully painted (started at bare plastic)
- 3 mini's are now almost fully painted (started at bare plastic)
Thank you for the videos and the motivation they give me to keep working away at the "pile"
"I should be able to finish him in one day..."
Tzeentch: Thems fightin' words...
hahaha
So much fun. I wonder if the commissioner remembered they were waiting on this 😂
I love these big batch videos - I know it's hard to paint this much but its great to see the variety and progress.
Oh my gosh that advertisement 🤣 You sir, deserve an Oscar!
‘Gimme your money” 😂😂😂
Seeing someone slay through their pile of shame is something id watch every day squidmar! Keep it up dude its inspiring!
That Comission looks Toight!!! very nice job, seeing others slay the Grey is inspiring.
Thanks for everything you're doing, your help is so valuable to new comers to the hobby
Painter holds audience hostage threatening to kill cat.
it's clear that you're having so much more fun making your videos even compared to a month or two ago - I'm so happy to see it and I'm loving this new content! All the best
I really enjoyed seeing that moon piece come together, and the way you started with the colors underneath was really informative. You can really just go hog wild a bit and then draw things together, especially on such a large piece. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could paint as well as you, in time, but I find it really hard to just sit and paint.
Really enjoying all the underpainted colours you are adding to your minis these days! They are popping!
Emil, this video is insane! Not just cos of the painting (that’s always insane) but the noticeable improvements in editing, pace, humour and everything else! Good frickin job man!
I really love this idea, could you do this more often? Seeing you get through your miniatures inspires me to get through my own
Love it! We just had a snap lockdown here in Australia and its finally got me out in to the garage again to work through some stuff for the first time in around 2 years. Thanks for the inspiration.
I would definitely watch more of this kind of content, gets me pumped to paint my backlog!
"Backlog" so nice and professional word for just a "pile of shame" ... :P
One thing in this hobby that you never do, is paint your backlog!
Fantastic work as always )
I was an Undead player back in the 90's. Skeletons were easy. White primer, brown wash all over, dry brush with bleached bone and finish with black for eyes, white for teeth. Then weapons and shields. Individually they looked good but as a massive unit they were great
Dude, it was a joy to watch it. And really inspiring. I need to not be lazy and take time out for my own minis instead of just doing commissions and sculpting! Thanks for the motivation! And I really liked this video!
AR
So satisfying to see someone make progress on their backlog!
My backlog is half of chaos start collecting and the marine side of indomitus.. Its taken nearly a year
Love this kind of video, super inspirational and fun to watch. Keep at it Emil!
This video really motivated me to paint my own unpainted miniatures. Great video Squidmar! I would really enjoy more of these paint log videoes. You Sir are awsome!
Would love if this became a regular series on this channel!!
A very relaxing and cathartic video. Makes inspired to tackle my own pile of plastic. Keep up the good work!
1:51 Really cool effect
You HAVE to make a serie about this! This is amazing🔥🔥
Inspirational...got me going cleaning up an area to start painting....should of watched this a year ago!!
Great video, that motivate to get things done! Your funny interpretation of the sponsor was worth itself to watch the video !
I love the green basing idea for the undead.
Would happily watch more of your backlog busting!
The cobblestone bases fit the models so good
I really enjoy watching a lot of your videos but this one is my favorite just cause of how simple it was just some nice fun painting
You should definitely make this an ongoing series of reducing your backlog, though I would've loved to see a more in-depth video of your Lunar Shrine and that commission piece you finished.
Videos like this are super inspiring, definitely hope to see more just like it!
Make it a monthly event or something! Love stash-busting!
Loved the special effects ya dished out on this one. Hahaha and that news update was to die for you should almost do a skit comedy of jus telling outlandish news! Omg! You could call it “Outlandish News with bill” so funny, my favourite part would be when you where shaking paint then went to the vortex all stone cold. Epic reality shot of the turmoils of mixing miniature paints. So relatable and reliable as always Emil. Please keep it up! I’d wait ten years to get a commission from you it’s worth the wait! Wish you still did them.
Yep. I'll watch this style video weekly 19 more weeks, keep at it!
Would love to see you paint more of your spider army, that army is so cool!
That rattlecan priming-edititng was superb :D
Who am I kidding? The editing is brilliant from start to finish^^
I love getting to throw away a box, I leave it till I finish a model so I can see me pile of shame get smaller and feel the destressing of less clutter.
On the front of a backlog painting video it would be interesting to see another "week through the backlog" style video like this, but using a different speedpainting style each day.
Really nice, please Do more, ive got very inspired to start working on my own pile of shame!
I liked watching these sorts of videos. You should keep making more of these challenge videos.
Do this as a series once a month! I really enjoyed this
I feel Backlog purging videos could become a cool trend for youtube content creators. Smash that backlog and provide some inspiration to others with a big pile of potential.
It's great seeing people with such a huge level of skill also take an inordinate amount of time on miniatures, it makes me feel like I'm not awfully slow and that painting does take time.
I love these skeletons! Great job in such a short time!
This goblin moon destroyed my brain. Amazing!
Really unparalleled in production quality and humor. One of your best videos yet. Please make more videos where your awesome sense of humor and personality shine! I am burnt out on youtube painting videos, accept for your channel kind sir!
So inspirational! Not only for miniature painting but also for my other hobbies. Will definitely try something like a dedicated week or weekend too. Would love to see more of it!
Yeah, do more of these! Very satisfying :)
Love the colors on that shrine 😍
I'd love to see more videos like this. Super inspiring. :D Jette bra, Emil!
more!!! i love it, i want to see the backlog shrink to ZERO :)
Love the Imperial Fists captain/dude. Not too find of the effect on the fabric but all the NMM looks awesome and the yellow is great too!
Backlog painting is the most satisfying painting! More please!!
Normally I hate the plugs but THIS was a great commercial. Keep on the pile you got this!
Thank you Emil - I thought I'd be deeply envious of the huge amount of minis completed - glad to find out you're human too!
Only 8 minutes, Emil you tease. Video quality looking great, hope you guys have fun in the new studio. Oh and well done for putting a dent in the backlog.
The best ad read ever. Magic!
The shooting, editing AND painting in this is superb! One of my fav videos for sure
Please please PLEASE, do another one of these!!!
The green undertone for the skeletons and mummies looks amazing! It really gives them an eerie and deathly vibe!
Your editing in this video was top notch!
Wow! Sure makes me feel better about my backlog of 832! I'm in the habit of buying more when I haven't cleared it. Hope yours has cleared a little more since posting :)
Yup I liked this! Really good inspirational content.
Need moar! This is inspiration for my own grey shamelog (which I can procrastinate towards finishing, because I need to look at inspiring videos on youtube)
Iiiih! I'm so happy to see more heroquest stuff. I'm so inspired to take my parent heroquest minis and paint them.
I would love to see this as a series!
Soo awesome everything looks incredible
bought your element games collab paint starter set... vallejo dark sea blue has not just become my favourite paint (I use it for EVERYTHING) it has literally become my favourite colour. mad props.
Besides the incredible commission and Goblin Totem, the consistency across those skellies and mummies is fascinating. They look copy and pasted!
Loving the new style of videos, keep going!
You should make a series out of this! maybe once every month or every 2 months, dedicating 1 week just to paint your backlog. i would certanly enjoy watching the process and seeing the number slowly going down until you reach 0.
Awesome! I really support videos of people making progress on their backlog! Hopefully it will inspire others to do the same and I look forward to your next video on this subject!
That Loonshrine is sick! Amazing as usual.
Love it Emil, keep them coming. I love the use of green in everything
Wow this was so inspiring to see! Fun to watch too!
I would love to see more videos like this - it inspires me to get my backlog done, too.
Great job, keep working like this!
Outstanding whao Great Job and nice colours i love it all 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Awesome video. Would love to see more in this style.
7:31 Smokey eye on point!
I'm getting tattoo artist vibes from your painting style, love it !
You could do it montly. Like that you won't burn out and you could go through that pile in ~2 years while keeping the good work on your channel!
Really enjoyed this video format.
The editing in this video is absolutely outstanding! So much fun.
Could you try to show the progress in painting a minature by 'timelapsing' the model? Maybe set it on a sheet of paper where camera and base are lined out and take a picture everytime you add a significant step. Maybe with a flash so the lighting stays the same. I think that would really show how your process works and makes for a great looking intermission :)
The best thing about hero quest is batch painting with an airbrush then applying highlights
Do more of these! Very motivating lol
worth watching for the skeletons, amazing!
Extremely impressed with the skeletons and mummies. But overall just at the seemingly low effort of painting those freehand green cobblestones. That would take me as much time as you used on the giant moon shrine, for 1 base.
