another wow. they got more stock than here in small town USA. And those pastries ! look so tasty. Calvados! Gotto drive an hour to get that.... may be I should move to Russia! Not surprised that the stores did not really went away. Why would they? soon it is over, and then they can start doing business again.
Well, I don't think this is the luckiest choice to depict "typical Russia." But I get the point, just as I am familiar with the things you have shown. People who don't live in the west are more informed and less brainwashed. I like your videos, you seem like a nice guy. Thank you. p.s. Also, it's amazing that in addition to hundreds of videos from different hundreds of people on this site that detail every part of Russia; there are still people in the comments who act like they discovered yt existed this morning. The brain that is washed is a f.ucked up thing indeed.
I didn't just discover UA-cam. However, searching for what it's like in Russia doesn't occur to everyone. Not brainwashed, just doing other stuff. Came across these and they're interesting.
interesting video, thank you for sharing and showing your perspective on the field IMO the video's too shallow for its length. you can't tell the stock by how it looks or by "customer activity". I mean, in a sense, if you see it completely empty, yes, you can tell they've no stock, but just by what they display, without asking the employees about their stock, if there's been any changes, etc. you just can't know. I wouldn't say the people running the beautiful but closed Chanel store are happy with the outcome and i'm not sure how long they can sustain paying those rents, etc. Maybe you're right and they're perfectly stocked, maybe because they're luxury brands they can just blame their lack of stock to exclusivity to an undistinguishable degree vs here in the west (Rolex are famous for this here as well, probably the fashion brands as well), or maybe they would just be honest case by case and say that bc of "technical problems" they can't have whatever you're requesting also, without doing a price comparison it's all somewhat meaningless. some people in the US are up in arms screaming about inflation and bidenflation or whatever lol, if the ruble has recovered purchasing power for imports maybe rich people there notice it less but then life is more expensive for the average Джо (lol). If olive oil was $10/l a year ago and now it's $15 people (reasonably) get upset
Where do the people who can afford these luxury items live? Show us the residences of the upper class. All I've ever seen in Russia are very average high-rise apartments. ✅
If your videos were all I had to go on (plus that video of the Russian family 'fleeing' Russia on a plane but change their minds 😂) I might move there, given the dire situation in the US.

"It's true. I do not know when Harrods was built, but GUM was built in the XIX century. GUM Department Store looks really very similar to Harrods, especially at night, when the similar lanterns illuminate the contours of the entire building. Love from Moscow.

What a fool you are to tell me to get out more when I am actually going to these countries whilst you sit watching believing what media tells you but not what people who are actually there show you.
@englishmaninrussia Dude, I've seen their typical tiny apartments. I actually know someone who lives in one of them, okay? The apartment has two tiny rooms, a kitchen, and what they call a water closet. It has no walk-in closets, and their washing machine is in the kitchen because there's no room to put it anywhere else. That's how their "middle class " lives. Go spin your tales somewhere else 👌

It is important to note that all "closed" stores are still paying rent.
Why should they pay taxes to themselves???
Yes true
Добро пожаловать в Россию и самый лучший город - Москва! ❤🇷🇺
Спасибо, я согласен)
Moscow is beautiful! No graffiti!
That's a huge + for Moscow isn't it
There is graffiti but city services clean it or repaint.
Thanks for showing us this.

Calvados is my favourite! So much choice despite what we are told in the west..
At 6:36 a woman passed by and smiled so sweetly :)
Ands people say Russian's never smile at strangers..
Very interesting, thank you for sharing!

Most of our malls stateside have little to no stores or are empty.
Yes, sadly they have collapsed
Thanks again for sharing.
Prices, though....
I will do a video about that, certainly not very high as I have read in Western media.
That mall is huge! Is there a tram to take you from one end to another?
Have to walk :)
great footages , what month was this taken pls ? best month to visit Russia ?
Trust me my brother the sheep you are referring to will not watch this. They are happy to be told what to think by MSM.
It's a museum..
Beautiful isn't it
I agree. The stores appear to be missing customers. Glad my grandparents left.
Russians will be much healthier now that McDonalds have left.
To be honest all were replaced with a similar style fast food chain. However it's rare to see an obese person in Russia.
True

@@englishmaninrussia No bad thing when you're living in Russia 😅😂😊
The truth never lies,
Surprised at all the English signs and labels I see!
All over Moscow
I think GUM is mostly a store for tourists. I'm muscovite and last time I've been there was in childhood when was in communist times lol
Yes, on red square so there are many tourists
Wow, must have been so different then. Maybe you could go now and give us a comparison. That would be interesting.
Plenty of bread now but i remember the long bread lines in the late 80s
Ну, уж очередей за хлебом в 80-90 г. г. не было.
15:15 - арбурзный фонтанчик.

"technical reasons" lol
Yes, interesting wording :)
You have another channel about armwrestling, am i right?
Correct, sports channel and primarily armwrestling
Sanctions come and sanctions go. But the spirits don't stop flowing in old Moscow.
Mmmm…..those high end stores are closed cause the regular Russian cannot afford those brands. Those stores are for the oligarchs of Russia to afford.
Macy in America is not luxury anymore ,just like any other mall store now days
That's a shame it's gone that way
Temporarily closes. They will open again after redeveloping systems
I agree
You've shown me that wealthy Russians are doing just fine in Moscow.
НОРМ
Not seeing a lot of smiling faces, more looks of suspicion and barely concealed fear

Not many shoppers, and of those, I saw only one carrying purchases. Just like our mall in the USA with the 19% inflation we are enduring!
No one goes there except for tourists or people with more money than sense :-)
Can be said for all luxury department stores world wide :)

The best comparison for this store will be Harrods.
Yes agreed, Harrods most similar
