    Nice tree. My friends tiny dog (about 5 #) somehow figured out how to get onto the cat tree. She found the dog there, with the cats, all the time. Maybe your pup has now figured it out. :)

    Awesome video, I have scrap wood and also a rug that I was about to throw away, I'm definitely building a cat tree. Thank you so much for this very helpful video.

      Hope it goes well. Mine needs some repair. I used cheap carpet on the posts and the cat tore it up pretty quickly.

    I love this video and it looks like a nice solid cat tree. Very neat use to older piece of wood. I've been looking to build one myself. Just finished a large catio and want to make some cat trees for inside it. My only tip is that the rope you're using looks like it's synthetic? Can be bad for cats who might lick the fibers out from their claws and ingest them. The synthetic fibres will damage their stomach and digestive tract. For safety reasons, sisal rope is the go-to for scratching posts for cats, generally. :)
    Still love the vid though and your cat looked so happy playing in his(her?) new bed! Awesome stuff.

      @@AlleyPicked I believe the best rope to use is natural sisal rope. I got some on Amazon a few months ago to replace the sisal on our cat trees. Just be sure to read reviews and avoid sisal that's treated with chemicals. Loved your DIY video though it turned out beautifully!!

      Thanks for the info. I made that video awhile back. My cats, now 2, didnt really like the synthetic rope. They mostly avoided it. They tore up the thin carpet I used on the poles. That was my first cat tree so yes, there are some changes I would make next time. Thank you for the feedback. Tom

    Your video is awesome. I was looking for videos on how to replace the carpet on a scratched up cat tree but really couldn't find anything, cat trees are expensive and I thought replacing it myself would be cheaper, then I realized I don't have the tools or experience to do it. You make it look so easy, have you ever thought of starting a business repairing worn out cat furniture? People just end up throwing them out cause there isn't anywhere they can take them to have them repaired which is crazy! someone should of thought of this year's ago.

    Nice simple design but I am concerned by the lack of safety gear when cutting the wood. Splinter in the eye can be extremely disconcerting. Likewise the noise is not crash hot for the older ears. That being, I am still going to nick your design. Thanks. 👍

    Usage of glue or hot glue would be better than using too much nail on it. It might hurt their nails while they're scratching but other than that. That one hell of a cat tree. Congrats.

    Question: what size length to cut 4x4's? And what type of wood is the 3 pieces made of?. Thank you in advance 😀 loved this project going to build one for my cat baby. 🐱

    • @AlleyPicked
      @AlleyPicked  3 роки тому

      The 4x4's can be any length. I'm not sure but I think mine were 2 feet each. I made the 3 flat pieces using some scrap 3/4" plywood. You can change anything to suit your preference. Good Luck.

    Carpet isn't such a good idea. The carpets are woven with a nylon string attached, and the cats can easily scratch that out of the carpet, and in worst case get it around their neck. Use sisal rope or sisal carpet instead.
