First Generation DTS would be 2000-2005.
2006-2011 would be Second Generation, or Last Generation since they were sadly discontinued afterwards.

I owned an '08 Performance DTS that I bought used, and here were my issues: One of the rear brake calipers seized and cause a problem that made the brakes shudder whenever the brakes were applied. It took a lot of looking until finally an independent shop correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. It was not costly, but it was miserable before it was corrected. The Magnetic Ride rear shocks needed to be replaced (they are sold as a pair) and they were really costly. My thermostat stuck and caused a number of problems and like the brakes, it took forever to get it diagnosed and corrected. The engine required a major rebuild that was covered under warranty, but it was caused by stretched timing chains. This was a wonderful car, but it nickle-and-dimed me to death. Lovely ride, quiet and just a joy to own...but it took some time to sort out.

2011 DTS Lux @ 121K issues so far: Transmission 3150, Steering Pump 70, Fuel Pump eBay 60, Fuel Pump Relay 30, FUSE BOX paper clipped it for the gap it cause due to bad fuel pump relay burning only on one PRONG, trans, Cooling Line "like he Mentioned" very true-bypassed it with dual Clamps on each ends-oil leak true unfortunately no matter how much love and attention you give it its simply too many parts to make a V8, now just a few days ago my Rad. The reservoir is leaking no from a crack but from actual FACTORY seals (where both plastics make a seal finish a complete unit) - over all the car is beautiful and when it comes down to it - its fun, POWERFUL, safe, and awesome to drive, I'm staying w/my Cadillac and year after year restoring it

Yeah unfortunately the North Star has a bad reputation, but if you keep up with your coolant flushes every 2years you can definitely help avoid water pump and head gasket issues otherwise it’s a damn good engine in my opinion because by the 03 to ‘10 engine design GM changed the head bolts into a longer and coarser thread pitch design to help with the head gasket issue due to aluminum stress from heat expansion.

Owned a 2007 DTS that I bought special ordered new and owned for 11 years. I put 124,000 miles on it. I special ordered my car to have the adaptive cruise control option, which is rare for this model. My engine started leaking oil after 5 years. The only way to really fix it was to spend $2k+ to remove the engine to replace the leaking seals. I had my mechanic tighten up everything on the engine that he could without removing the engine. I placed mats under the engine to catch the oil and added a quart of oil about every other month. I did this for years. Luckily the car had an accurate low oil indicator sensor that allowed me to monitor this. I also had the problem with rear door latches. The most annoying problem I had with this car was a vibration in the front end at 60-70 MPH. I rebalanced the tires, rotated tires, replaced tires and had the front end aligned and inspected multiple times. After several years I replaced the front wheel bearings and that finally solved the problem. When I went to sell or trade in my car I found that it had virtually no resale value primarily due to the Northstar. GM fixed the head gasket failures in the Northstar by 2006 but the Northstar still leaked oil after 2005. I also owned a 2006 Buick Lucerne with the optional Northstar, which I owned for 10+ years and put 100k miles on it. It also leaked oil. Neither engine failed while I owned them but I will never get the oil stains up from the floor of my garage.

I have a question I just bought a 2007 DTS last month and I'm learning alot about these cars and I been have a issues with the tpms...now I did try the putting it in mode on the dic and the yellow light came on for the front right side first then you deflate till it beats then go to the nex and so on. My problem is when I do the first tire it does beep then I go to the next tire front left and deflate and no beep at all so I took it to the dealer and they fixed it with the tool in like 10 seconds lol but my light is still on and I'm sure it's because of the tire pressure is reading low now here is the issue I go and put air in and the numbers are not moving 2 tires read 27psi 1 reads 27psi and the last reads 38psi but when I put air in the numbers don't go up it's like the tire is not recognizing I'm putting air in.

worst-case scenario try to bypass it with a new switch you can control-but if its a fuse that keeps blowing, check all your wires to ensure there is no opening or damage wires. if you are putting in a new motor and new switch there have to be almost ZERO issues, if you have a dead motor with few hours of new usage....maybe you may have an open wire somewhere for sure, carefully inspect your door hinge areas, your interior panel (deep Door Inspection)... try to do a test on the motor itself to see if it actually works, then the switch and work back to your harness then lastly your fuses. GM is horrible about having the failure modes always in a position where half the car has to be taken apart to repair the car. Oil leaks 75.00 in parts but 1000 or more in labor to fix 😳 Ridiculous. Might as well buy a BMW or a Mercedes and have a top level luxury car. At least then the high cost of repairs would be worth it to have a real premium luxury car. I’m a previous owner of 3 Cadillac’s never again!!!
