I have a sad story about the Rickey Henderson rookie. My best friends uncle stole it from me when i was like 13yrs old. And it was pulled from a pack my papa bought for me. It was a psa 9.5 to 10 also.
Great video. Just a few overlooked...1984 Donruss Strawberry and 1989 Randy Johnson (Topps, Donruss and Fleer). Also, Nolan Ryan in a PSA 10 in any of the early 1980's is pretty valuable. There is not much tolerance however as the PSA 9's are fractions of the PSA 10s for this era.
So enjoyable for someone like me who started collecting when I was 8-9 years old back in the last 60's-early 70's....once the card market picked up again in the early 80's I was hooked once again....My wife was listening along and can't wait for me to throw out all those cards that I have packed away in the closet....that's a different story for sure....over all a lot of fun!!!
Love it! I think the best looking set was 1988 Score, with 1986 Fleer a close second. 1981 Joe Charboneau and Winfield traded. 1982 Righetti rookie. 1984 Sid Fernandez rookie. This guy reminds me of the folks that would host on the Nashville Network.
Hey,what about the Chicken card,ha,ha,a couple of big ones for awhile were Joe Carter and Fred McGriff,Saberhagen was hot for awhile, lots of one year wonders like Joe Charboneau,Wally Joyner, good info for a novice, they need to see this!!!
1980s era cards are tougher to find in high grade than modern cards. 2011 Topps Update Mike Trout there are 5500 PSA 10 examples. The 1989 Upper Deck Griffey there are 4000 PSA 10s. The 1989 Fleer Griffey there are 4800 PSA 10s.
I was buying 84 donruss Mattingly's on ebay for years. Sent 10 to psa got one 10 and 6 9's. When the prices spiked the higher end raw cards got hard to find FAST
1989 Fleer Bill Ripken F Face error and the Randy Johnson Marlboro error versions are some of my favorite 80's baseball cards. If I had to give the 5 most iconic rookie baseball cards from the 1980's it would be 1980 Rickey Henderson, 1982 Topps Update Ripken, 1983 Topps Tony Gwynn, 1984 Fleer Update Kirby Puckett, and 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr.
Would like to hear you thoughts on the 1980"s Topps Tiffany sets and others. I think Fleer had some also. I think 1984 and 1985 Topps Tiffany and 1986 Bonds and 1989 Griffey are valuable cards and sets.
ok a storage shed full of junk wax costs 500$ per year, even in 2000 it was the junk wax, so im gonna store 500$ worth of junk wax pallets for 30 years comes out to 15K and im not including the time value of spending that money elsewhere, so they are still only worth 500$, so why store them, they didnt, junk wax is just what you said not having serial numbers to find fakes, thats it and not authenticating the replicas and further more propagating that situation for essentially nfts for cards of the 2005+ is the problem, its funny if they try to say its an asset after having a friend raise the price or lower the price to take a fishes cards that month, do people really think the have a quarter million of 2005+ cards and not even 100$ of junk wax for the same type of collector, someone has to say it because my stuff is the exact reason your mad at me, is it going to 1$ for really good fun cards. im mad cause you destroyed my cards doing the opposite of what your doing hyping similar produced amount sets, so piss off
I love hearing people these days talk trash on the "junk wax" error cards like they aren't worth anything. Meanwhile, I've made tens of thousands, if not, hundreds of thousands of dollars on this so called "junk." It's all about condition and grade.
Thanks for sharing
Awesome video 🤩
It would have been interesting to bring the Topps TIffany sets into the discussion since their numbers were so limited.

Yes much happier with 86 redux I love that look with mojo refractor

Actually the stars from the 1986 Topps set,Ryan,Rose, etc, in PSA 10s go for good money because that set is so condition sensitive.

Alot of great cards in some sets of the 80s. 50years from know all that 80s junk will be gone.
You should have talked about all Nolan Ryan’s

Awesome job guys going try to make it in one day to say hi
Thanks for watching!
No love for Darryl Strawberry, Fred Mcgriff, at least Eric Davis was mentioned

I still collect PSA 10's of the hall of famers from the 1980's
Still very valuable in PSA 10's
The 84 Mattingly was my “grail” card back in the day. Didn’t own one until I got older

Don't forget the 1986 Donruss Fred Mcgriff who I am sure will get in the hall of fame eventually.
I would say that Randy Johnson's rookies from 1989 should have some value - especially in high grade.
Cards of this era will always have nostalgic value, even if they lack investment value.

Why no more collector and the dealer? I enjoyed that podcast. Last one was the national.
please do the 90's next
That's the plan!
Great review. There are still no PSA 10s of 1981 Topps Fernando. Would also add Strawberry to the 1984 and Larkin to the 1987 lists.

Nice jersey
You forgot Gregg Jeffries in the 88 donruss and fleer . And Jim Abbott in the 89 upper deck.
