Thank you for doing a reaction to this, it gave me the incentive to watch the full movie so I could then watch along with you afterwards.
Smile gave me the feeling of watching Japanese horror movies. Less like horror and more like psychological thrillers. The unsettling sound (like Ringu 1998), the camera movements (like Dark Water 2002), the slow ratcheting up of tension.
I was hoping that if she couldn't defeat the entity she'd pass the curse onto her fiance as he deserved it the most out of all the characters! Sosie Bacon gave a great performance, making me want to see her in other things. I just watched the short Laura Hasn't Slept (2020) by the same director, which led to him making Smile. I can see why he was asked to make this feature length version.

It was a good thriller wasn't it? :)
I don't know that I've seen any Japanese horrors (and not sure if I'd want to). I saw The Ring (which I believe was based off Ringu?), and it freaked me out preetttty bad.
The Ring was a little too horror for me, which is why I've never wanted to see Ringu lol.
I agree, Sosie Bacon was excellent.
I'll have to be on the lookout for Laura Hasn't Slept, I'd be curious to see anything else done by this director.
      Thanks for the comment! :)

@@MoviesMoveMe The Japanese Dark Water veers more into 'ghost story' territory, so an easier watch for non-horror fans. I'm still wary of watching any of their horror films though, as they have a habit of sticking in my mind and making me feel dread for days/weeks afterwards. They get under my skin.

What happened to the guy who posts 40 comments per video? I'm mainly here for him

Ugh, I hope you’d start uploading horror movie reactions again! I really love your editing, it’s kinda very Gen Z in a way. I have few horror reccos if you’d come back!

Thank you for sharing all that, I appreciate it. :)
I've been trying to pick thriller movies to react to, but I'm also trying to start polls (where I put movie suggestions ppl have made and put it on a poll under the community tab on my channel, and ppl vote on it, and I watch whatever wins the poll).
Yeah suggest me some good thrillers and I'll put it on a future poll! :)

@@MoviesMoveMe OHHH, that's a great idea! I could recommend Gone Girl, Till Death, Speak No Evil, Sick, When A Stranger Calls. Those movies lean into more thriller than horror, they have certain horror elements but they don't have like supernatural stuff going on. I assure you those are the great ones I've watched!

Yayyy I LOVE thriller, and I can handle horror "if" the thrill is really good, like in Smile for example (Smile had a lot of horror in it, but the thrill was so good and the filmmaking was so good that, at least for me, it surpassed the horror). But I just don't like it if the horror is bigger than the thriller aspect.
When a Stranger Calls is a GREAT one and I love that movie, that's a perfect example of thrillers I really like. :D
So if I hadn't already seen it that would've been one I'd have loved to react to.
Gone Girl, I haven't seen BUT I know how it ends and I know a lot about it, so I don't know if it'd be a good option since I already know so much about it.
I haven't heard of those others though, so maybe I'll add them to future polls. :)
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions! :)@@rich3drio

Never seen this before, I'll have to watch the full movie. Love what you're doing with your channel. Hey, with Halloween coming up I highly recommend an overlooked gem from 1973, The Legend of Hell House. Thanks for all your hard work.😊

And yeah if you like thrillers, this was a really good one in my book.
