  • This is the Part 2 video of Gem Hunting in an abandoned Quarry. Located in NSW, Australia, anyone whose interested in finding gems themselves can come here and prospect for smoky quartz and also other minerals. Since this area is in a State Forest, you will need to get a fossicking permit from Forestry Corporation. Link to the website below.

How do you know what to look for when you are looking at the raw earth, in order to spot an unclean crystal? Those that you found are really beautiful! Thanks for your videos.

    Its easier to work a pocket of quartz crystals here in newfoundland because everything is so wet here.
    Trouble is finding the pockets at all.

    Hi Liz, when you guys went to lune what kind of agates did you find?

  • @Muuip
    @Muuip 5 років тому

    The use of a small pressure washer would preserve the crystal intact.

      @@LizKreate thanks a lot for that! So hard to get info on dig sites, so many people just like to keep it to themselves and it makes it really hard to find good spots and learn this awesome hobby! Do you need any permit to did there? Thanks again!

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  6 років тому

      It's in a State Forest so you'll need a permit from Forestry Corporation. Link is below the description box of the video. Cheers, Liz

    Why not use a wooden stake or a sharp stick? You'll less likely to damage any tips or shafts

      Try getting in touch with Central Coast Lapidary Club. They usually have field trips and can organize people to go with. Just look them up online. Good luck.

    Hi I’ve been watching your channel for a while and I thought I’d ask, do you think there are or have you ever found geodes in Tasmania?? If so where about? I really spoke love to find one but I can’t find very much information on them here so I’m starting to think they’re too hard to find or they aren’t here 😂 thanks!!

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  5 років тому +1

      We haven't found any whole geode in Tasmania but in saying that, we did find a few broken crystal clusters that might have been from a geode in the Lune River area. Generally your best shot on finding geodes is where you find agates. Good luck and happy hunting. Cheers, Liz

      Hi Belinda, If you google up "Blue hills Quarry NSW," a lot of info would show up for this place. But you'll need a NSW State forest license (available online) to fossick here. Below is a link to more info for you. Happy Hunting. Cheers, Liz
