@@tag_of_frank So just because they have energy means they have velocity? No! A particle at rest has energy in the sense that their mass is equivalent to energy according to E =mc^2. This is Einstein's relativity. The fact that a particle at rest has energy (due to their mass) does not mean the particle is moving or has momentum.

Your lectures are completely mind blowing, i'm binge watching them like some kind of TV show
Thank you Professor Barton Zwiebach for such a delightful lecture. What a treat!
This lecture solved an ever standing mystery for me regarding the term 'electron spin'.. Thank you Sir..
Professor! Thank you for very inspirational lectures!
SIr does this length associated with a given mass at 6:20 is planck's length
love u legend, love u MIT

very amazing good
When do you use (h), and when do you use (h bar)??
h-bar times c = almost 200 Mev.fm ; it's just a convenient number in calculations. Watch the previous video (L3.1).
hbar is equals to h over 2pi
It is better with leaving something here rather than passing by without leaving anything.

R is back when center was earth?
Square brackets means Dimensions rather than units
So if a particle is standing still, it's potential energy = 1/2 m * c^2 ? Where does that come from? (Prof said it is rest energy of particle)
Particle with mass have energy even when they are standing still (E = m c²). The total energy of a particle is this energy plus their kinetic energy.
@@eddyestevez500 So just because they have energy means they have velocity? Why bastardize the notion of momentum?

@@eddyestevez500 Thanks. I'm thinking about de Broglie wavelength lambda = h/p. Its weird to have a wave for a particle at rest.
I'd love to tell you where you lost me..... so specific
And where was that?

You mean dimensions of h

"de Broglie" is pronounced "duh-BROY " (more or less)
I've heard everything from "De-Brolie" over "De Broil" to "De Broggly", I don't think anymore that anybody really knows how to pronounce that name
@@Labroidas Well, it's not so important. I guess nobody pronounces Arabic or Chinese names the way they pronounce it themselves so...
@@Labroidas" broggly'' is better since the guy was French

Not really😋
